Chente's new corridas.......2007-03-23

Chente has an extensive discography so it is hard to say where to begin if you are new to Chente; this recent release is as good as any place to begin your musical quest.Gone is the jet black dye in his hair but his pipes show no age.The ageless wonder delivers some of his best work in recent years on this disc. His heartfelt and emotional voice has magnificent range even at his advanced age. This collection of corridos(stories in song about individuals)is his first new release in 25years and the material is fantastic; he made his mark recording corridas early on in his career. The beauty is that each song tells a different story about life in Mexico, from different time periods and distinct locations. The themes are as varied as the culture. The stories of gun fights and other fights, drinking and carrousing, horses and historical dates is like a colorful musical travelogue across the little pueblitos(towns) of Mexico. Each and every song is strong and stands alone on it's own merit. If I had to pick a favorite I'd choose "Le Pusieron 7 Leguas." The bonus track is a hilarious cartoon or animated number entitled "Al Mayor De Los Fernandez" featuring his boys Alejandro and Vicente Jr. Don't miss this one. For old and new fans of Chente. La musica es cultura (The music is culture).

Chente is the best.......2005-05-13

His voice is as powerful and beautiful as ever. His voice is ageless. this recording has the best selection of corridos, some of them he recorded before. I really enjoyed them and this is a must for any Vicente Fernandez fan or anyone who loves corridos. There is not many out there with a voice like him and if you have the chance to see him live, it's really worth it. His concerts are almost 3 hours and he sings continuously. His voice is the same live, beautiful and powerful. Chente is the best !

This is a great cd. It has many good "corridos." If your a fan of Vicente, you'll really enjoy this cd.

There are no corridos revolucionarios nortenos like the ones in this album and no singer norteno like Antonio Aguilar to sing them. An era ended when he died 19 June 2007.

Wonderful songs by Mexico's finest .......2005-10-17

The genre of Mexican music, corridos from the revolutionary period is best done by Mexico's favorite singer, actor, and cowboy, Antonio Aguilar. This CD is excellent, the sound is revitalized, crisp and clear!

The corrido is also known as folk music and it is the means of telling the story of this historic and cultural war experience from the 1800s, and probably the most famous was Mexico's hero, Francisco (Pancho) Villa. You will hear the stories of other battles, famous soldiers, leaders, political movements and assassinations about Zapata, General Benjamin Argumendo, and more.

One important aspect about corridos is to understand what the story is about. If you don't understand the language, you are missing out on a lot. Search for corridos of the revolution to find the translation of some of the songs and a deeper understanding of the time period.......MzRizz

METAL MANIACS!!!.......2006-11-03

Asesino's music make most of current death and black metal bands look like babies. Emilio, Enrique and Dino are some of the best musicians performing live. Emilio's performance on drums is remarkable. Do not pay too much attention on their lyrics (don't waste your time in translating them) I think they're aware themselves of the junk lyrics they sing. Anyway don't miss the chance to get this disc.

If I could give this album higher than 5 stars I would. It deserves it. This album (and band) are brutal, at some points technical, interesting and unique. I've been looking for something like this for a while and finally found it. Believe it or not, I actually found out about these guys on Headbangers Ball a couple of weeks back. I never really payed much attention to Dino's involvement in side projects since Brujeria and RR United. I didnt even KNOW he had formed this band WAY back in 2002! What a pleasant surprise. Its nice to see guys from respected Metal bands such as Sepultura, Brujeria, Static-X and (although not Metal) Hatebreed come together and form something so awesome! I cant wait until their release of "Cristo Satanico" on the 13th of this month!

Buy this album if you like bands like Cannibal Corpse, Skinless, Dying Fetus, Pig Destroyer, and The Red Chord (especially their "Fused Together in Revolving Doors" album).

Amazing.......2006-04-20

Ive always enjoyed Static X, and always dug the backing vocals of Tony. This cd is very brutual and the singing is outstanding. I dont know Brujeria yet but I cant say it is a copycat. I mean Rammstein sings in German; So if some other band sings in German, will they be ripping off Rammstein? I highly recommend this cd, even if you dont know what the heck they are saying.

Pure extreme metal.......2006-01-04

This band is in the line of brujeria but with more brutal vocals and sound.There's no much things of hardcore here is just pure extreme metal.if you like death/grind with shure this is one of the best release of the style in the year.

excelent corridos.......2007-05-16

Nothing like Ignacio Lopez Tarso's corridos to give you an insight of what the Revolution was all about. You wont see this type of culture being made nowadays, this cd's come from a time when the music was giving a chance to culture, tradition, history and folklore.

Now thay just dont make real culture. They just repeat pop and sex and sell it.

So this is definately something worthwhile, specially if youre mexican so you wont forget that people died so you could have more rights and be a good citizen.

Life has more meaning when you know more about your own culture.
