Beautiful in a different way..........2004-07-01

When I first listened to this CD, I was disappointed that it had a different feel from Tibet. At first listen, it seemed very 80s popish with too much electronica. But it has definitely grown on me. One of the things I like about Waterbone is that it is so beautiful to me I often become overwhelmed with emotion. While at first I didn't think that would happen with this CD, I now find it just as inspiring as Tibet.

The first reviewer said that Tibet had no skip songs, but there were two on that CD that I almost always skipped and none on this that I feel compelled to skip. In my opinion, the best tracks on this CD are Vision of Maati, Keepers of the Gates of Mars and Waterchild.

It's good,...but not nearly as good as Tibet!.......2003-08-30

In my review of Waterbone's first album (Tibet) back in November of 2001 I echoed the sentiments of my fellow-reviewers by praising this talented duo's debut release. I ended the review by appealing to Waterbone to cut another album soon, with great expectations of another unique and soul-satisfying musical experience. I am sorry to say that I can't join in with the other reviewers in their praise of Orion Prophecy, for I was sadly disappointed with this new release. I am not saying it has no merit, for there are a few standout tracks (such as "Hymn to Isis," "Sky Gods," and "Waterchild"), but it did not keep me mesmerized from beginning to end as Tibet did.

I really tried to love this album. Sometimes I listen to an album for the first time and it doesn't do anything for me, but with repeated listenings it grows on me and I end up loving it. This has not been the case with Orion Prophecy, for after listening to it many times all the way through, I am left feeling empty, with plans to only play about half of the tracks the next time I do listen to it. With Tibet there were no "skippers," for I absolutely loved each track.

In the final analysis, I guess it was mainly the vocals that made the difference between the 2 albums. The voices of Tibet were much more likeable and were not so pervasive. They allowed the exquisite instrumentation to be heard and enjoyed. But on Orion Prophecy I found many of the vocals (not all, but many) to be distracting, so much so that one of my favorites on the album is "Keeper of the Gates of Mars" because it is all instrumental.

I should add that Tibet also offered brighter melodies and sweet synthesizers (with a Tangerine Dream sound on many tracks) that blended in perfectly with the vocals.

Am I seeking, in this review, to dissuade you from buying this album? No, for you may very well like the Egyptian vocals and instrumentation, and thus enjoy the album throughout. You know the old saying, "Different strokes for different folks." But I would encourage you to listen seriously to some samples (preferably at a site that gives you longer samples than here) before laying down your hard-earned cash for an album that, in my opinion, doesn't hold a candle to the charming and seductive sounds of Tibet.

Natasha Atlas meets Enigma.......2003-07-29

I loved Tibet and waterbone once more wrapped me in the blamket of the worlds sounds and magicall voices. Its a wonderful combo of Trance meets the the world sound, as I said it's Natasha Atlis meets Enigma in the full moon of an Egyptian night.

Ethereal beat.......2003-04-04

Just bought this CD as it was on sale, and found that the music is hypnotic, exotic.. you sort of lose yourself in the varied beat. There is some influence to club/techno but its not redundant styles, in fact, quite the opposite. Each song is unique and engaging. Some are slow and seductive, while others are very lively and danceable! I highly recommend this CD!!

World wide tour.......2003-03-09

I bought this CD tonight, and just finished listening to it. There is something magical about hearing the rhythms of languages from around the world. Add the pulsing beats and skilled mixes, and you have an aural treat. Listen to the samples on this page, and enjoy.

I love Christopher Franke's Babylon 5 music, so I was expecting this to be good. I bought this CD based on other buyers' reviews. The music on this CD sounds like a soundtrack to a Hollywood movie, rather than something like peaceful music. I felt nothing particularly uplifting about this music.

Never heard of the book but this CD is a real treasure!.......2006-03-09

Already having enjoyed "Enchanting Nature" for many years I finally searched and successfully bought a copy of "The Celestine Prophecy" on December 1, 2005 after years of searching for it and I want to say that the long search paid off. "The Celestine Prophecy" is a stunningly beautiful, soulful collection of twelve songs, all of which are gorgeous in their own right.

Taken as inspiration from a novel by someone named James Redfield, "Celestine Prophecy" is a very exotic album and much more sophisticated than his earlier solo works although it took a lot longer to get into. Some of these pieces have a sort of progressive nature to them due to the morphing changes in melody that make them almost like several songs in one. The opening track is an example which starts with a dramatic, almost serious tone with Central American drums, a frantic rhythm before gradually slowing down at first before becoming a beautiful, peaceful track of almost a totally different mood altogether in the last two-thirds. I at first thought this was actually two tracks but I was wrong but wow, it is a classic!

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE INSTRUMENATAL CD!!!.......2005-03-31

I'm a big fan of meditative music and love Steven Halpern but this is my all time favorite instrumental CD. It is awesome! I swear to God.

The composer of this music, Christopher Franke, obviously took a piece of his soul and sent it coursing through the lilts and chords of various instruments, because this CD is positively inspiring. There is a mystery and beauty about the music that sends you to a whole other place--which makes it the perfect tool for relaxation, or any time when you feel like quieting down all the noise in your life. I'd recommend this CD, because even my boyfriend, who listens to hardcore rap said that he "loves" this music! It really reaches many people, and I'd be hard pressed to find anyone who wouldn't enjoy the soothing sounds (even hardcore rap fans!). No track becomes monotonous or a carbon copy of a previous track. It's simply amazing; trust me!

Look dis guy below me is ridiculous....he must be one of them new reggaeton heads....your a hispanic probably just gettin into this. This album is wat baby rasta and gringo should be soundin like. This is Latin hip hop at its best and dis is gangsta to da core. The whole album is like a giant mix of everything they have sung before and up to 99'. If you think this album is whack den my friend u are not a true reggaeton head, at that you dont kno wats good and wats bad. Baby Rasta Y Gringo set a standard jus like everybody else back then about wats different between rappin and reggaeton......if you cant appreciate them rappin then you truely dont have the flow of reggaeton running thru you. Lemme Add that this is how baby rasta should sound instead of wat he did on his Album, "La Ultima Risa", which in my mind was weak listen to him on THE PROPHESY and on his new album and you can tell the difference

I just got this CD today was very excited to listen to it to my dissapointment is not as good as their later stuff so i cant recommend it dosent sound like reggaeton at all.

Heavy Hitter Cd.......2005-09-30

First off i knew the cd would be hot because dj nelson was featured on some tracks. Nelson was also featured in Luny Tunes mas flow album he's one of the best dj's around. Then to add to the mix you got baby rasta who absoulutely kills tracks maybe daddy yankee should learn from him. Gringo is ok but baby rasta's lyrics and nelson's beats keep this album fresh.

No, no, no! All this is are synthesizers (like the previous reviewer stated), re-creating the original album's songs, and not even very well! Its just bad! If you liked the original score from the film, do not waste your money on this!

Shore Synthesized...Again.......2002-07-31

This CD follows hard upon the release of a similar work by the Hollywood Studio Orchestra & Singers. Both CDs share two things in common: they are both performances of Howard Shore's score to "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," and they are both realized on synthesizers. Not terribly exciting. But if you feel you have to subject yourself to one of these CDs, I'd suggest the Hollywood Studio version. At least they use real human voices for the choral parts. The present CD doesn't even do that :(

Featuring Per K of In The Woods fame, Drawn is a band interested in coveying something about ourselves. The lyrics, I have been told, speak of the inticatcy of the human mind, truly the last great frontier. It is suprising how they have attempted to tackle a new kind of progressive metal I would term as 'astral metal'. They are not like typical musicians in their feild who rely simply on string ensembles and baroque choirs or melodic keyboards to make good progression. Their sound is not gothic, its spiritual. The interlude of the song 'Marygold' is just beautiful when played to a starry night backdrop. Still yet, the metal is quite powerful as well. In the song, 'Momento in Slomo', the music screams along at a frightening intensity. Combine this heaviness with the karma-like melodicness, and "A New World?" showcases some very epic music indeed. The band's leader, Alte, says that his personal taste runs outside the metal scene. This surely can be seen in Drawn's surreal yet gratifyingly positive music. Definitely the best track, and one of the best songs I have ever heard, is the last track 'Improzigw' (yes that's spelled correctly). This solemn and VERY moving instumental makes me want to weep and dream of flying away from this cold, wretched earth. Although the recording is a little poor, this music is a fairly good change of pace from normal prog and 'Improzigw' is a completely unique experience altogether. They get four stars, however, because they are in sort of a state of development. They have the sound, but teir only beginning to understand what it is like. I wonder what they will be like when they reach their full scope.
