This is just fantastic entertainment!.......2006-07-06
This is a joy to watch on laserdisc - ear candy as far as the music goes! The band is incredibly tight. Takanaka plays with grace, style, and precision. I own the laserdisc, but also the album. While I enjoy watching the laserdisc, I like the way the music is presented better on the album.
I cannot figure out why this has not been released on DVD???? It's just a great show for everyone-adults and children would enjoy it. If you like music that is fun, uplifting, and enjoyable to listen to over and over again, consider this purchase.
I have listened to this album for 20 years and watched the video multiple times - I never have tired of the story told or the music. As an aside, Takanaka is an excellent musician and his music has always been enjoyable to play and watch.
Take a listen - you'll be hooked!

This was a historic recording as it was one of the first done exclusively for laserdisc by Pioneer. I have that laserdisc but would love a DVD of it if you have a lead. If you have heard the albim....you should see it being done on stage. I have never ever seen a band like this that was so tight and inspiring.
We used it for years at a hifi store I worked at to sell Kloss projection TV's and high end audio. That good.
A Joy to the Ears.......2004-04-25
It amazes that the recordings I stumble upon are the ones that turn out to be my all-time favorites. Like accidentally ordering the wrong stock number and getting the 90125 album from Yes (whose title was ironically taken from a .... stock number). Anyway, I found this album lying alongside the road while I was stationed with the Air Force in Okinawa. It only took one listen to know this was going to be one of my "classics". Light, breezy, jazzy -- fun. You can tell Takanaka had a blast recording this - there is not a bad track anywhere. I put the album onto a cassette and used to take it on my walks through the Okinawan forests, wondering if any "rainbow goblins" would appear. It is definitely worth a listen.

masayoshi takanaka.......2005-04-26
I haven't recieved this cd yet but....about 20 or so years ago I was in a local mall electronics store and on the the new """"Laser Disc""" machine was Rainbow Goblins.I was impressed enough by the guitarist that to this day I can remember his name...Masayoshi...well I finally am getting around to buyin the cd. Can't wait to put it in the cd player and kick back with it!
Rainbow Goblins is worth the search effort.......1998-10-20
This is an amazing CD, something along the lines of Pink Floyd, but Japanese style. The lyrics are all in flawless English, and the musical fantasy tale of the rainbow goblins is a wonderful kick-back-and-let-your-mind-wander CD. I wish I still had this CD, because now it's out of print.
