This is defintely a very fine soundtrack of a classic television series.

BUT..... Aaaargh I'm looking for the opening theme not of Masterpiece Theater but of MOUSEterpiece Theater, the Disney show from the 80s, you know?

If ANYBODY has info on the name/composer of the theme plase let me know!!!

It is very similar to the opening theme of this cd, but its not the same...

A Phenomenal Journey from Rio Bravo to Rio de la Plata.......2004-01-31

Yolanda and Enrique offer us this true Latin American musical embrace. Although I knew of Enrique Coria's masterful guitar style, this lyrical duo with Yolanda Aranda really exceeded everything I expected. The trained voice of Yolanda takes us through zambas and huapangos with passion and subtleties. My favorite tunes are La Malagüeña (where Yolanda shows the real pitch of her voice) and La Canción Mixteca. Chava Flores' Mi México de Ayer is also really moving. In La Pucha con el Hombre (a great escondido in the tradition of Los Carabajal), Yolanda may not compete with my paisana Mercedes Sosa, yet her voice really shines. In summary, this is one of the best Latin American musical partnerships I heard in the last years: an homage to the everlasting Latin American musical tradition.

This isn't everyday music (at least not for most people). It's a bit eccentric. But if you're familiar with Arnold's style and other work and enjoy it, then you'll likely enjoy this collection.

Rich and sentimental.......2007-05-14

Traditional Ukrainian songs are very loving and unabashedly sentimental. The 3/4 rhythims found in many is perfect for a swooning Romantic approach to love, history and family. A good, rich Baritone, which Gerello most definitely is, is the best medium for this song tradition, as it conveys power and masculinity, while still wearing its heart on its sleeve. It sounds much more natural than a tenor voice, which can somtimes be brassy. The arrangements are perfect. This CD is a great homage to the traditional Ukrainian songbook, although not for those that think operatic voices to be faitly ridiculous or for those who do not appreciate deeper emotive content. I would recommend

The music, diction, and vocal mastery on this cd. is outstanding. Being a Ukrainian I was brought to tears listening to this beautiful Operatic Baritone revive our songs into vocally velvet poetry. Anyone that understands the Ukrainian heart and soul will agree, I'm sure. Bravissimo Vassilly Gerello. You are a true talent with the voice of a Kozak.

John Langstaff, now 83 years of age, is the founder and director emeritus of Revels, the non-profit performing arts company that produces Revels Records as well as 'The Christmas Revels' annual winter solstice celebrations in 12 cities across the country. This is the complete collection of Langstaff's disc, featuring all four acclaimed previously re-released CDs originally recorded in England. The recordings have been digitally re-mastered at London's famed Abbey Road Studios. Included are many traditional British and American folk songs and ballads, most with simple, art song settings. Legendary pianists Sir Gerald Moore, Sam Mason and John Powell, as well as guitarist Martin Best, are featured.

Instrumental, improvisational, technically, jazz. The music on this CD is essentially a song cycle. Some of the ideas, sketches, themes, if you will, were written at different times, but they all came into focus as realized pieces between 1998 and 1999 with the birth of my daughter, Ella. The emotional range is broad, encompassing many of the feelings I experienced around her birth and early development. The graphics on the cover are two trees drawn by Ella around the time of the recording. In my mind, the music has kind of an off-white-and-purple quality to it (the colors Ella used in her drawing). Please take that for what you will.

Worth waiting for!.......2001-11-30

I've mixed live sound for Paul for the last two years, and I was blown away with how much talent he shows on this cd. The cover features his adorable daughter, Ella, and the music is filled with the wonder and joy that fills the room when Ella walks in. But this ain't just kiddie music. I'm a rocker from way back, and even I love spinning this disc of delightful jazz. I don't care what type of music you like, this cd belongs in your collection.
