Serenity and beauty.......2002-11-12

Hapa sure didn't miss a beat with this album either. Having grown up in Hawai'i, I was excited to find Hapa's debut album at a local CD shop here on the east coast, and fell in love with it. When I returned home on vacation a few years later, of course, I *had* to pick up their subsequent work. It doesn't disappoint. I also gave a copy to a buddy of mine as a Christmas gift, and he loves it even though he's never even been to the Aloha State.

Barry and Keli'i have put together a wonderful set of tracks that embodies and embraces the beauty of Hawai'i. Pop it in, close your eyes, and relax. You can't possibly still be stressed with this music in the background. I have spent countless nights lulled to sleep with Hapa's mellifluous tones. For Native Sons (by blood or by residence), this CD affords a chance to return to the islands that will probably always be "home." For visitors to the 50th State, this CD (along with Hapa's debut album) is probably the best souvenir you could consider taking back with you.

Hawaii in Your Ears, Your Eyes, Your Heart.......2001-05-24

So you would like to vacation Hawaii, eh? My wife and I just returned from Kauai'i. We rented a Ford Mustang convertible while we were there, one with a CD player. We purchased "Namahana" from an outdoor vendor in Princeville. With the beauty of the Garden Island all around us and Hapa to complete the fantasy ... WOW! This album is terrific! Follow our lead. This CD is a must for those days when you want to get away from everything and just relax. The softness of the rhythm just make you want to forget about all the kine stress you get....

The Best of Hapa.......2001-08-02

I have every Hapa album to date. I have seen Hapa live in Chico, CA. This latest album is a great collection of songs. I think it is their best effort yet. Each album is unique, with outstanding selections, but Namahana is the best 10 together that they have produced. Please get this group back to Norther California soon!!

Another stellar performance.......2000-04-25

Yet again, Hapa has given us a superb album. When I am homesick for Aiea, I just put this on in the car and I am home. Mahalo nui loa guys, you have done it again.

This CD is great! If you like contemporary Hawaiian Music, youwill like this CD. They are awesome live! Keli'i Kaneali'ihas a wonderful voice, and Barry Flanagan is the best guitar player I have ever heard. With Hula dances by Healani Youn and Hawaiian chanting by Charles Ka'upu, this group is loved by all ages. HAPA will be the best Hawaiian concert you will ever go to. So, if you don't have this CD...BUY IT!

Aloha Nui Loa.......2000-03-13

Pehea `oe? Oia mau no. I've had this CD for a while, and I get nothing but compliments from the people that hear me play it. I live in the mainland now so the people that hear me play this CD are from a variety of backgrounds. My friends tell me that the music is so peaceful and soothing, and I agree. I own a large collection of Hawaiian music from contemporary to Jawaiian, and in my collection I have several Hapa CD's. So, I must also agree with some of the earlier reviews, that this CD might be better than the first "Hapa". I love both of them equally. But since this is a review for "Namahana", I'll tell you why I love this CD. The music is soothing and rich with Aloha. But most of all I like the way they were able to bring both their heritages into the mix. My hat goes off to all those who are responsible for this work. My favorite track is the last track "Aloha Namahana" because it represents both of their heritages with the variety of instruments used and the music. If you want a taste of Aloha, then I suggest you purchase this CD. Once you taste the Aloha, check the other titles purchased by people who've purchased this CD. Hawaiian music is definitely No ka `oi. I'm Hawaiian and I grew up on Kaua'i on the westside, WHS Menehune. This CD brings me home, and reminds me of how special the islands and the people in the islands are. Mahalo to Hapa and their ohana. Onipa'a, Hawai`i. Ua mau ke ea o ka `aina i ka pono. Ka`ano`i. Soul soothing music for everyone.......2000-02-20

This is the most beautiful and soul-soothing music I've ever heard. If you're a Hapa fan, and didn't think they could top the first album, you're in for a great surprise! If you don't know who Hapa is, or have never heard Hawaiian music, now would be a good time to get started. This is brilliant and inspired music - the instrumentals even top "Olinda Road" from the first album -- "Stars in the Morning Sky", "Emme's Island Moments Theme", "Debra Anne", "Cavatina". Barry's genius for harmony in diversity continues with the title cut, blending Scottish pipes, Slack Key, and Charles Ka'Upu's ancient and moving chants. Wherever you live, with this music playing you'll be on Maui, near the mist of a waterfall, emraced by the scented island air.

This is an awesome album. She is beautiful as her soothing lovely voice. Listen to this album and you'll fall in love. This kind of voice and music takes you back to the Island of Hawaii or which ever Island you dream.
