The fourth album by the band Kila brings traditional Irish music kicking and screaming into the new millennium with a baroque, theatrical flair. Kila's sound tastefully and energetically combines such traditional instruments as uilleann pipes, tin whistle, fiddle, and bodhrán with Middle Eastern strings, African percussion, and horns to fashion a distinctively Irish approach to world-fusion. Each of the seven musicians--including former Dead Can Dancers Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Lance Hogan--is a talented multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. The jazzy acoustic guitar and flute on "The Compledgegationist" might remind listeners of previous generations of Celtic folk-rock ensembles (early Jethro Tull, Pentangle), while "Rachel's Reel" sounds a bit like David Grisman's "jazzgrass" hybrid. But the Gaelic rap on "Tine Lasta" and the Afro-Celt tribal drumming on "An Tiománaí" are something else again. It's unlikely that there'll be a more fresh and original release to come out of Ireland in 2000.

Lemonade.......2007-06-04
I was turned on to G. Love and this album about a month ago... I heard a few cuts a bought it right away. I can tell you that it's the best album I've purchased in years. Every cut is outstanding. Each with a completely different sound and groove. Rap, blues, funk... it's got it all.
I've turned on about 5 friends to it and all of them love it.
Buy it, you won't be sorry.
Better than I thought..........2007-04-10
I bought this CD for the 1 song I heard on the radio, but it turns out the whole CD is good. I was quite surprised, I am not into rap but this works.
WEAK.......2007-04-10
Almost every song sounds like it could be in a Coca Cola commercial. Instead of "Lemonade" he should have titled it "Yet Another Collection of Insipid Songs For Hippies To Dance To" The first album was great. I've been disappointed by each one since then. Weak.
G Love + Special Sauce; so happy the sound is back..........2007-03-16
Helping a friend get settled in the area - and went flipping through the CD collection that came along. I did a double take when I saw the good ol' "G. Love and Special Sauce" first album, self-titled. What memories that brought back - in high school - of finding this new sound... when I was kind of tired of the same old stuff at the time (read: grunge rock...) G Love with Special Sauce was true feelgood music, true to some jazzy, bluesy, hip-hop roots with a taste of other influences. I didn't need political lyrics or any statements more than the background message in the melody - simmer down or shake your body. G Love catered with something unique and better yet, just fun. (exception in a few songs - how can an artist not have a message? Listen to "This Ain't Livin'" and a few other songs on their other albums. Typically the songs are simple - you'll get the feel that G Love's not out to save the world - he's out to enjoy it).
In between G Love & Special Sauce found greater success with each album released. Not quite in order - Yeah It's that Easy and Philadelphonic were even better - Coast to Coast and Electric Mile both strayed from their sound for me, but I appreciate the experimentation and listen to them equally. The lineup of all their albums is a must have. Their Greatest Hits album is only a handful - picking the low-lying fruit of their sounds.
The Hustle came out in '04 under Jack Johnson's label. The first without Special Sauce and it showed. I liked it, but I missed the groove that Prescott and Clemens brought (the Special Sauce of the band).
Lemonade stands out as a return of Special Sauce to the mix - full circle. Not only that, but accompanied by a really great lineup of guests (check the song list). G Love helped carry the momentum of the genre that I like the most... I'm not going to even label it. But you can visit Brushfire Records, or search for his guest artists, or similiar artists - to get a feel. For a band that formed in '92, this is quite a run - and Lemonade is the perfect sound and feel for any time of day. Front porch lounging... driving... beachfires...
I had the chance of seeing them twice on the Lemonade tour in central coast CA - I'll catch them whenever I can. Bonus album of G Love (Garrett Dutton) is now available with the raw, first recordings before Special Sauce was even in the picture. Listen to that, then listen to this, and buy yourself the spectrum in the middle. These guys are just too damned fun not to have in your collection.
Good chill music........2007-03-08
It's G.Love, what else can I say other than, I really enjoyed this album. It is highly recommended.

SEXIEST COVER ART EVER !!!!!!.......2006-11-09
I rate this cd on its artwork (the photo of that extremely sexy chic). I wanna stick my **** right in her.
The way they were........2006-08-23
This is the album that got me into Sugar Ray. I bought this album way before "Fly" came out. I was into the heavy punk hard-core guitar. This album is awesome if you like heavier stuff and is one of my favorite. It isn't a big seller because of the wussed out songs that the mainstream liked of them and the expectation of that is the way they roll. Speaking of expectations. I saw them live when they first came out on the Floored tour. All these non-metal and non-mosh pitters were expecting the happy band that most of Floored shows. I thought it was funny when they opened the concert with "Mic Stealer" from this album and they all backed up and had looks of confusion on their faces. I think after their initial shock they realized that this is the good Sugar Ray and rocked out. Get this album! Most every song will make your head bob.
The Good Old Days, How Come This Seems New?.......2006-07-17
I have always loved this band, "Fly was the song that got me into them, but when i bought this with "floored" I was so happy that everything else was pretty much hard rock. When 14:59 came out, I was happy with it, but i still missed the hard rock/metal outfit. I miss this band, because they havent put out a strong album since S/T 5 years ago. Bottom Line, Buy it. And why is everyone so surprised about this, I knew it from the beginning, thats why i loved this band! so buy it and check out what used to be...
People, this cd is insane!.......2005-12-26
I've actually known about their "black sheep" album, L&B for awhile now but was never really too motivated to check it out
until recently. The catalyst for me buying it was mainly hearing other people say, "they used to be a metal band" and being the diehard metalhead I am it intrigued me enough to actually interrupt my metal cd purshasing bonanza to buy this.
The results? Well I was pretty damn pleased! Especially with the song Mean Machine which is indeed the highlight of this funky off-beat album with it's amusing lyrics and catchy music. Mark McGrath sounds awesome on this album, he yells, speaks in funny voices it's awesome, he really mixes it up here. THEY EVEN CURSE! I know cursing hasn't been a big deal since middle school but when Sugar Ray does it then it is. I mean imagine if you found out N'Stink and the like starting cursing and going crazy, it would be a tad shocking don't you think? What's also cool about this album is that it seems to blend some funk, rap, hard rock, and a little bit of humor. Yes, it even has a skit... but don't worry it's not like the asinine skits that take up half of modern rap cds disc space (they're bad enough with the music alone) but a damn good one with music in the background to boot! I won't ruin it by telling ya what it is, buy the cd and find out yourself!
I have to be honest that I've always liked Sugar Ray, yes even their soft stuff. That's probably especially shocking to my fellow metalheads out there (keep in mind that's coming from a guy who listens to Slayer, Pantera, etc most of the time) but it's true. What can I say, it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Now I will do what others have done, show my friends the craziness that is old school Sugar Ray! By the way, yes I recommend this to basically everyone, I mean everyone at least likes some rock right? Anyone who doesn't like any rock is obviously inhuman and doesn't matter.
What happened to Sugar Ray?.......2005-08-03
I never really cared much for Sugar Ray. I remember getting 14:59 as a present a few years ago, and I wasn't too interested in most of the tracks. But then again, that's because most of the tracks were the annoying, cheesy teenybopper drama movie-esque acoustic pop filler. Although I must admit I enjoyed Someday, for the most part the only tracks on the CD I enjoyed were the songs that were more influenced by either funk-metal or heavy alternative rock (with all due respect to the open-minded musical variety on the album that I admired). Thus, I would usually skip to the songs Personal Space Invader, Aim for Me, Burning Dog and Glory. On rare occassion I'd listen to the track Someday, but I was very conservative about listening to the song, because at the time it would be played so many times on the radio. For the most part, I'd find myself popping in 14:59 on occassion to this day just to listen to those specific tracks, and it still sits on my shelf to this day.
Well, one night I was with a friend and I popped in 14:59 and skipped to Personal Space Invader. While we were listening intently, my friend said "That reminds me, I just found out something really awesome about this band." I asked what it was, and he told me "I know this may sound weird, but Sugar Ray actually used to be a heavy metal band." Then he told me about Lemonade and Brownies. So I finally bought it and popped it into my CD drive.
I was extremely blown away! Not a single track on the album was intolerable (well, the actual music tracks anyway). Nice, basic, crunching, straight from the soul grunge/metal aggression.
Just the other day I invited a different friend over, and we decided we'd want to listen to some music. So I showed him this album. He laughed upon first seeing it, saying "Sugar Ray? Ha! This cover looks just like what you might find on some American female pop singer's album." He only looked at me like I was a dolt when I told him the whole early Sugar Ray story.
So I popped the CD in and had him listen to it. BOY, did that make a believer out of him!
What puzzles me to this very day is why Sugar Ray don't ever produce albums like this anymore. I'd have to disagree with what someone here said, that this can't compare to their other albums and that they should have abandoned this awesome sound. I suppose I won't get into why I think their progression to other types of sound blew, but come on Sugar Ray, look at your fanbase now. None of these blowhard teenybopper valley dopes you have now would have DARED have anything to with the raw power of old school Sugar Ray.

Such fabulous fun! Makes us want to DANCE!.......2005-01-26
I saw this cd at the library today and decided to check it out even though I had never heard of Peter Himmelman. Fast forward to two hours later, when I'm on Amazon ordering all three of his children's cd's. This music is so much fun! My 2 year old and I just had to dance, dance, dance! "Theo" and "Murray Malone" are our favorites but "Love Can Travel" was outstanding and almost made me weepy--then we played "Theo" again and it was all better. :>) You just can't go wrong with this cd. It's an album that is just as much fun for parents as kids. The music and lyrics are just outstanding and made me feel so energetic!

Wonderful musical energy, and a devastatingly beautiful ballad extra!.......2006-10-23
Other comments have spoken about the great musical energy of this album. Indeed, Kìla makes inspiring music!
The only thing I really feel to add here, is the necessary attention for the final song. The reason why I personally cherish this Kila album especially.
"Ce Tu Fein" is an utterly beautiful and touching melancholic ballad, as I ever heard! About homeless people apparently. (Not sung by their main singer).
they are in their own world.......2004-09-04
Kíla seriously, is leaps and bounds above all the pop monotony of today. Throwing together a rich assortment of instruments from around the world while still retaining a beautiful irish vibe. I saw these guys live last year and the show was completely electrifying even without Dee Armstrong a pivotal part of the band who I believe stayed in Ireland with her children. Rónán Ó Snodaigh the lead vocalist and king of the bodhrán, is an amazing character to watch on stage. Eoin Dillon the Uileann piper, made his own pipes which he plays as if he has been attached to them since in the womb. This band of legitimate geniuses (music and otherwise) are a perfect fit for one another. This cd is simply brilliant, I highly recommend it to those who have an appreciation for great music.
Absolutely Incredible.......2001-05-30
This CD has quickly become my favorite with its celtic/african beat. The combination is very cool. I first heard it last spring in a music store at the airport in Dublin. It was the perfect gift to myself to top off my trip. It is not surprising to hear such great music come out of such a great country. I listen to it all the time.
Blown Away.......2001-01-27
When I first heard this CD (on the listening board at Borders) I was completely blown away. It has become my all time favorite CD, which I listen to all day at my desk at work, at home, in the car. Buy this CD -- you won't be sorry!
Another Great Album by Kila.......2000-11-20
I first heard Kila on a cut on Gaelic Voices. From that I purchased Tog E Go Bog E. It just blew me away. I eagerly awaited Lemonade & Buns and it didn't disappoint. If you're looking for just plain good music that doesn't easily fall into any category I'd check it out. It'll rock you, haunt you, put a grin on your face and set your toes tapping. If you're looking for "new age" fare with celtic lite trimmings and angelic soaring vocals then look elsewhere.

This album seems to be one of the cheapest Mucky Pup albums in the used market. I have yet to figure out why. Mucky Pup is a metal-esque band which made a name for itself with Boy in a Man's World, which featured silly (or offensive, depending on how sensitive you are) song lyrics mated with music that is a talented parody of the metal genre in general. These guys aren't quite as creative with the lyrical adventures on this album as compared to Boy in a Man's World, but the music is very solid and worth listening to. Amazon and E-bay both seem to have a regular supply of inexpensive copies.

In a paralel universe Baby Lemonade rules the world with their big hooks, buzzing guitars and brilliant writing. These guys are truly great rockers born outta time and doing all they can to educate and irradicate preconcieved notions of pop music. Baby Lemonade continues upon the path set forth by the likes of Love, the doors, Cheap Trick and the monkies. Baby Lemonade is where the sour turns to sweet.

it wasn't very good..........2005-05-14
I personally didn't like it, just my opinion. I don't usually buy soundtracks but the music on this one wasn't very good!
TERRIBLE!.......2005-05-14
OMG, this is really not a very good CD... why would you want to buy a soundtrack for a horror movie anyway? and listen to people talk on it... honestly! It's really a pointless CD and a waste of money!
David Hess is NOT on this CD!.......2005-01-28
A search for David Hess turned up this CD, which he is NOT on. David contributed SIX songs to the Cabin Fever Soundtrack, including the closing credits. Do not buy this CD if you are expecting to hear David Hess music from the film, those songs are available separately from David Hess at his own .com
Awesom Stuff.......2003-09-19
The Cabin Fever soundtrack captures all the fun and insanity that makes the movie such a riot to watch. The soundtrack features a few cool songs from the movie (The Turtleneck's song is hilarious) as well as some well placed dialogue cuts, but for the most part this soundtrack is a show piece for Nathan Barr and Angeleo Badalamenti. Nathan's tracks are great mood pieces that work great with the film and would make great Holloween music if you need some for a haunted house. As far as Angelo's work goes...it's awesome. His stuff is more subtle than Nathan's work and its adds a nice contrast to the other tracks. Some tracks feel like they came straight out of Twin Peaks. Great stuff! I highly recommend this soundtrack!!
