5 out of 5 stars all in all its worth a listen.......2006-04-26

this is a pretty good album, ive had it since it came out, its really neat to hear all three together as if' hank sr was still with us... but i do agree i think its just ok... but then again some of these songs can give me chills at times. just thinking the what if's ya know what i mean... i like it fine. and hand me down is one of the best, on here and men with broken hearts is my favorite by any hank williams, and for sure by hirman hank williams sr. a fan of the williams family

1 out of 5 stars I am being gererous giving this one star!!.......2003-09-21

What you have here it the single most worst cd ever made.

How someone thought it was a good idea to take Hank Sr.'s low-fi mono recordings, peel off his voice and put it in modern, digital stereo surrounding is beyond me.

Imagine Hank Jr. singing a line, then a great guitar solo, then Hank III taking a vocal turn, then a guitar solo, then Hank Sr. coming in with vocals that seem to come off an lp that was found lying in the gravel somewhere at a flea market.

It is beyond bad. Not a good idea, and nothing like "There's a Tear in My Beer."

5 out of 5 stars Gimmicky, but good, better than one might have expected.......2003-06-19

Obviously one can tell right from the start that this is nothing more than a marketing ploy. Hank, Jr. fans will get exposure to III, Hank, Sr. fans will get exposure to not only Hank III, but they will also learn that Jr. has calmed down and became the quintessential country legend that George Jones has became down through the years. But, if nothing else, fans of each diverse artist will want this, so it's almost a guaranteed sale!

Many fans familiar with the Sr. LP's of the 60's may not know what to expect. MGM released two LP's in that decade heralding a "recording miracle" of father and son singing together. Well, what you wound up with was something similar to Liberty's "Visual Sound" stereo with Hank, Sr. in one channel and Hank, Jr. in the other. The Drifting Cowboys faded out with Hank and then Hank, Jr. came into the other channel with his "band" and then eventually, Sr. was brought back w/ the Drifting Cowboys for Jr. to harmonize-and harmonize he DID NOT!! It was awful-Jr. was so out of key!

Of course, by 1989, recording technologies had improved and the "collaboration" of Sr. and Jr. on "There's A Tear In My Beer" (what an awful title for a song!) was not distinguishable that it WAS NOT recorded totally in 1989. So, due to improved technologies, this was put forth as a new effort at updating the classic Hank, Sr. style.

Hank, Sr. shines through on anything done on here as does Jr. Hank III in many cases seems as if though he's trying to be a cross between Sr. and Tim McGraw and his stuff doesn't always work well. "Moanin' The Blues" comes off as a Western Swing type number, "Move It On Over" and "Honky Tonk Blues" come off as rockabilly numbers as they have lended themselves to so well ever since they were recorded. As a matter of fact, rumor has it that "Move It On Over" was the complete inspiration for "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley and his Comets.

Hank, Jr's solo's work very well and leave no hint of the once wild Southern rocker inflected country/rock singer. Hank III's one solo, a re-working of Hank, Sr.'s demo "'Neath A Cold Grey Tomb of Stone", works very well, though III is a bit nasal in his performance.

The standout is the group gospel number complete with Audrey and (uncredited) "Health and Happiness Show" announcer Grant Turner. The song that does not work is "Men With Broken Hearts". It becomes painfully obvious that the recording technology of 1949 doesn't equal that of today's. It would sound as if Hank, Sr. phoned in his part over a bad connection (he must've been using my phone company-BPS communications!) and plus the fact that Hank III butchers this one to no end-you'll be glad when it's over.

The edited take of "Lost Highway" is somewhat non-sensical. I would have preferred to have had a whole overdubbed version of it myself, but so it goes.

If you like any of the three, this is a must have. It offers a perspective on Hank differently than any other compilation and is quite entertaining. You won't be disappointed.

2 out of 5 stars Uninspired.......2003-02-28

I picked this up back in '98 after seeing Hank III for the first time. Perhaps for the Hank Jr. fans it is worth your time but for me a Hank Sr. & Hank III fan it is disappointing. I'm aware of the family lineage but I don't need to hear this blend of voices to appreciate the songwriting talent of Hank Williams.
I did talk to Hank III about this recording and it sounded like his dad's idea not his. Out of the dozens of recordings of all three of the artists, this is my least favorite for all of them.

5 out of 5 stars Began as a gimmick, turned out to be great..........2002-02-28

This project began as a way to get Hank III "on record" by pairing him with his father, Hank Jr. and his long-dead granddad, Hank Sr. Cute idea, and would not have meant much except that Hank III is a budding artist of exceptional promise, and Hank Jr. still has what it takes, and Hank Sr. is well, Hank Sr., and his songs are still great no matter who does what to them, and the producer, Chuck Howard, must be a genius. This album is so much fun to hear, and holds up well after repeated exposure. Wisely, the younger Hanks left Senior's greatest songs alone...they don't take a stab at "You Win Again" or "Cold Cold Heart" or "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." They instead select "I Won't Be Home No More" and nail it in the best version I've ever heard. They also perform "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive" and "Men With Broken Hearts", "Lost Highway" and "Never Again Will I Knock on Your Door" in killer renditions. Hank Jr. sings "Hand Me Down", a poignant song of his own about a note his father left him that he didn't discover until he was grown. Even if the song is not literally true, it is wonderfully done. This turned out to be a nice mixture of moods and tempos, and the voices of the three Hanks are just different enough. Don't pay the extra-high price for the IMPORT version, but if you can find this at the cost of a normal U.S. CD, you won't regret it.

4 out of 5 stars Keep driving.......2007-02-24

...through the Ataris catalog. This their first professionally recorded opus; chock full of amusing and well played songs. It might not be your thing, but how can you not like it?

1 out of 5 stars What? Pt. 2.......2005-12-11

I didn't listen to this because I'm too young to die. I heard some Ataris music a while ago and I was in the hospital for 3 weeks with a broken eardrum. The doctor said something about the lack of talent and/or the lack of good music in general. So I'm playing it safe and letting you try it out.

BUY EVERY ALBUM THESE GUYS MADE/YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NOT BE LET DOWN IF YOUR INTO THIS TYPE OF MUSIC.I DONT KNOW HOW ITS POSSIBLE TO BE SO HAPPY YET SO SAD AFTER HEARING ONE OF THEIR ALBUMS.

4 out of 5 stars In my opinion their best work.......2005-07-02

This is their best album after this they started getting extremely emo and lost a lot of the energy that this album has. you can hear the angst in his voice when he sings SDHS football rules. They put out ok music now but its far removed from their best.

5 out of 5 stars A Foundation Album.......2005-04-21

Well after reading the last review on here saying how So Long, Astoria was much better than this one and how anyone who disagreed doesn't know what good music is, I decided to add my two cents. This album was clearly The Ataris' stepping stone album. Anywhere But Here was great, but it blended in with many other bands at the time. Here, Kris Roe and the Ataris beautifully flex their story-telling, song writing muscle here. So Long, Astoria is their fourth full length, and most mature album to date. But without Blue Skies, it would be nothing. It is here where they adopted their style and built onto it with experience and the improving benefits of time. This is very heartfelt album with great stories to tell. Lyrically, Roe took from the usual "things were great, she broke my heart - life sucks" idea, incorporated it into his own experiences and wrote great relateable, not cliche, lyrics to it. Musically, the chord progressions and melodies are superb and un-matchable for the time, and even today. Just listen and read into songs like 1*15*96, the infamous San Dimas Highschool Football Rules, In Spite of the World and ESPECIALLY My Hotel Year, you'll get what I mean (and also read the book it was based on, Coupland's Life After God).

So for those who think this album sucks and So Long, Astoria is much better - you're entitled to your opinion. But respect the fact that this album was a foundation with which they would be nothing without.

5 out of 5 stars The picture.......2006-12-11

I haven't purchased the CD but the picture of the inside of a church on the cover is not of a British church, like one would assume since it says its a recording of British choirs. This picture is of Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Just thought i'd let you know. I'll be honest; I'm one to judge things by it's cover and if the company took such care to choose a 'British' church for their British choir CD, I'm willing to bet the music is equally well selected... I'm being sarcastic. But I gave the product 5 stars because I didn't want to hurt its ratings just because i'm cynical. But check out the church if you're ever in Montreal, it's truly beautiful... here I'm not being sarcastic.

4 out of 5 stars Good collection but missing some essentials........2005-09-26

So close, but no cigar. Where are "Hold On," "It Hasn't Happened Yet," "Second To no One" and "Couldn't Do Nothin' Right?" They were all big hits for Ms. Cash. Non-hit songs like "Dance with the Tiger" are here, but not those hits. How bizarre.

However, it is nice to have Cash's sublime version of Joni Mitchell's "River" included. Fans who don't already know this gem will be in heaven after hearing it.

Remastered CD has great sound quality. Definitely the best Rosanne cash "hits" collection yet available! Highly recommended, even though it's not perfect.

5 out of 5 stars Strongest hits collection yet of Roseanne's music.......2005-08-03

For a few years in the eighties, Rosanne was quite successful but, like her stepsister Carlene Carter, she was determined to do things her way and this may have prevented her from becoming an even bigger star. Generally, Rosanne's music could be described as country with a soft rock edge, as you would expect from somebody whose husband and record producer during her most successful years was the great Rodney Crowell.

This compilation includes every track that I regard as essential in a collection of Rosanne Cash's hits is here. Committed fans will note the absence of a few other country hits including Couldn't do nothing right, Take me take me and It hasn't happened yet, but they aren't essential in a collection like this and all can be found elsewhere. Rosanne's first four country albums have been paired in twofers while her fifth, King's record shop (generally regarded as her finest album) is available separately, as are some of her later albums.

Rosanne had eleven number one hits on the American country charts (all included here, of course), the first of them being Seven year ache, which became her signature song, and the last being It's such a small world, a duet with then-husband Rodney Crowell that originally appeared on his highly-acclaimed album, Diamonds and dirt. Rosanne also became the first (and perhaps only) artist to take a Beatles cover to the top of the country charts, which she did with one of their album tracks (I don't want to spoil the party). Another great cover that Rosanne took to number one is Tennessee flat top box, originally recorded by her father in the early sixties. Other highlights of this collection include No memories hanging round (an excellent duet with Bobby Bare), My baby thinks he's a train, Blue moon with heartache, I don't know why you don't want me and The way me make a broken heart - however, there are so many great songs here that it's possible I haven't mentioned your favorite.

If you only want one collection of Rosanne's music, make it this one.

5 out of 5 stars The best hits package available.......2005-07-13

I first became a big fan of Rosanne Cash with her "Rhythm And Romance" album, an album that is still a big favorite of mine. Her "King's Record Shop" is also a big fav. Several years ago Columbia put out a Hits collection for Rosanne, it was good, but was missing one song in particular that I really love, her #4 hit from 1982, "Ain't No Money". This new import collection includes that song along with 20 others, including all of her #1 country hits. I'm surprised that Sony hasn't issued an "Essential" album for Rosanne yet, perhaps this album will give them the boost they need. This set is missing a track or two that should have made the cut, "Hold On" from 1986, but for the most part it's a nice upgrade from the previous "Greatest Hits" collection. It is the best collection of Rosanne's work out there right now however. It also has a 12 page booklet full of photos and info about Rosanne and each track.
The track listing is as follows:
Right or Wrong, No Memories Hangin''Round, Anybody's Darlin', Seven Year Ache, My Baby Thinks He's A Train, Blue Moon With Heartache, Ain't No Money, I Wonder, I Don't Know Why You Don't Want Me, Never Be You, The Way We Make A Broken Heart, Tennessee Flat Top Box, Runaway Train, I Don't Want To Spoil The Party, If You Change Your Mind, It's Such A Small World, Dance With The Tiger, What We Really Want, Sleeping In Paris, River, I Count The Tears

4 out of 5 stars So Close to 5 Stars!.......2005-07-13

I've followed Rosanne Cash since "Seven Year Ache" and this collection does a good job of covering her time at Columbia Records. What's missing? "Hold On" from "Rhythm and Romance", more songs from "The Wheel" and her contribution to the Yoko Ono tribute album "Nobody Sees Me Like You Do". This is the best hits compilation out there and if you don't have any of the others, definitely pick this one up.

NOTE TO SONY/BMG: Now that you've done "Essentials" with most of your artists, how about giving Rosanne a double disc treatment? And now that the two of you are one company, how about releasing Rosanne's German Ariola release from the late 70s?

This is one of the best, IF NOT THE BEST, rock groups in the last fifteen years. I never got to see them live in person but have seen numerous videos and regret not seeing them every time I listen to any of their albums or dead low tides albums. Buy any of Murder City Devils albums and you have purchased one of the most under rated rock bands of all time. I only wish that they hadn't of called it quits.........

5 out of 5 stars Like a drunk and pissed off cure.......2004-10-10

It should be mandatory for anyone that watches mtv or likes sum 41 to listen to a murder city record, because its seldom you come across something as azaming as this band and if you cant like it or get into it force yourself to because your probably just lame if you cant find a reason to dig this

5 out of 5 stars Good times had by all.......2004-02-14

Every single moment of this album is pure genius, even the less known songs like "Hey Sailor" and "Stars in her Eyes" are great. The best songs on the album are "I want a lot now" and "Dancing Shoes."

5 out of 5 stars Rock n Roll.......2001-02-19

This is the sequal to Murder City Devils first self titled album, and to say the least this album is great. The Lyrics are a little diffrent then the first album but still seem to blow this album away, there are still keyboards like in the last album but this album is a little more rock n rollish with songs like JohnnyThunders and others. If your a fan of rock n roll and you like keyboards and really great vocals you'll love this album.

5 out of 5 stars Oh man, there's just something about this record.......1999-10-07

A few songs on this album in particular are just absolutely perfect. I Want a Lot Now, Dancin' Shoes, 18 Wheels, Ready For More, Dear Hearts, Stars in Her Eyes. They're just flawless. Hard and unrelenting, but at the same time, really swaggery and epic-seeming. Maybe its the brutal organ tone, maybe its Spencer Moody's warthog-whose-intestines-are-on-fire howl, maybe its their steady slow tempo, but these songs just have so much presence and power. This record really invigorates both rock and punk by adding a swagger to both, and then twisting them in the Devils own way. This album is fantastic!

1 out of 5 stars AWFUL AS A PARTY DISC, EVEN WORSE AS A SOUNDTRACK..........2001-11-26

Let's start off by stating that the word SOUNDTRACK should *not* be appearing on the cover of this CD. The term "false advertising" readily comes to mind. There are only four (very) short songs from the movie, one of which --Learn To Love-- is remixed to the point of being unrecognizable. Where are the Sammy Davis and Lou Bega tracks? What happened to "Sing A Song"? Where's "I'll Be There For You" by Solid Harmonie?

I bought this CD so I could have a copy of "Top Of The World" by Shonen Knife, a song that is prominently featured in the film. According to the commentary on the DVD, the director himself stated that he'd always wanted to use "Top Of The World" in a film and that he was especially pleased with the Shonen Knife cover version. SO WHY ISN'T IT ON THIS SOUNDTRACK ALBUM????? Instead, we're subjected to remixed-to-death versions of dance songs that have nothing to do with the movie whatsoever and that have already appeared countless times on so many other compilations. Many of these horrid tracks are presented here in their most tiresome and boring mixes. I'm a huge dance music fan, but this album is one major snorefest! Besides, if I had wanted a dance music mix CD, I would have bought that.

And, for the record, the Giorgio Moroder track is only 3 minutes long...a far cry from the 10-minute version someone else here is claiming.

Avoid this CD. The producers and manufacturer should be ashamed for foisting this garbage on an unsuspecting public. A complete waste of money.

1 out of 5 stars Soundtrack....to what?.......2001-11-21

As another reviewer mentioned, this is one big BAD cliché . Some of these songs aren't even in the picture! As anyone knows, music sets the mood of a film. I bought this soundtrack because I liked that mood, but that's not what I got. Instead its oneTRULY AWFUL dance mix after another. DULL DULL DULL. If you're looking for any of the songs from this film, better to find them somewhere else.

2 out of 5 stars Soundtrack? What soundtrack?.......2001-09-13

Why is this album called a soundtrack? Many of the tracks that were featured in the film were "mixed" to death so as to be unrecognizable and four tracks weren't even heard in the film, but were included in this album. And some of the music from the film never made it onto the album at all ("Such a Lot of Living", the piano music during the softball games, the cover of "Top of the World").
No soundtrack I ever bought was subjected to such a hatchet job. Maybe the producers should have called it "A couple of tunes from 'The Broken Hearts Club'"--that's about right!

5 out of 5 stars Shannon rocks!.......2001-08-30

Let the music play! Thats all I have to say! Worth getting the CD just for that.

3 out of 5 stars A question about the music?.......2001-05-23

Does anyone know what the piano music was during the first baseball scene. I think is was Scarlatti? Anyone? Thanks.

4 out of 5 stars Left Alone Will Take You Back.......2005-08-16

Review by Rahul Chandiok:

Obviously, the entire punk rock genre has been flooded with a copious amount of bands entering the music scene in an attempt to imitate legendary bands like Operation Ivy, the Addicts, or the Misfits. Left Alone enters the punk rock genre with their Hellcat debut Lonely Stars & Broken Hearts, an explosive punk album that draws influences from the likes of Rancid, Battalion of Saints, and the Specials.

This album tends to have lyrics that strongly emphasize some sort of a love relationship gone wrong. Although there are several songs on this album that deal with these types of situations, musically, the album is quite varied and includes several songs that range from the sounds of heavy-hitting punk rock to mellow and melodic ska. Songs like "Heart Riot" and "My Way" feature the fast-paced punk anthems generated by Left Alone that truly are reminiscent of the times when bands like Pennywise and Sick Of It All ruled the punk rock scene. Songs like "Broke My Heart" and "By My Side" showcase an eclectic ska feel to the band that is an interesting juxtaposition to their otherwise aggressive punk rock attitude.

To say that this is the best punk rock album to come out would be an overstatement, but to say that it were an average punk rock album would serve as an injustice to this band. In the end, Left Alone produce an extremely catchy and aggressive album that caters to all those who love ska and punk fusion from the likes of Tsunami Bomb, Less Than Jake, or Rancid. If you're a bit skeptical about Lonely Stars & Broken Hearts, check out some of Left Alone's work, but if you're someone who goes for traditional punk and ska music, you should definitely make an effort to start listening to this band.

4 out of 5 stars not bad.......2005-07-13

i have heard much hype/press about this album, so when i saw it at the store i took a chance and bought it. it's good ol' fashioned street punk in the vein of rancid. it looks like they love rancid so much that there's even a song that uses "Roots Radical" as a template, which was nice, but i think if they did something more original it would've been a bit more interesting. there are a couple skaish songs that break up the monotony, of which i do enjoy. but overall, there isn't anything new here. left alone is a competent band who play good music. no mas.

With a potent mix of roots rock, roadhouse blues, and goofy asides, Canadian singer-songwriter Fred Eaglesmith knows how to wax poetically about what really matters--cars, trains, and girls (just check out classics "Time to Get a Gun" from Lipstick, Lies & Gasoline and Ralph's Last Show's "Big Hair"). Falling Stars and Broken Hearts may lack some of the comedic charms of his previous albums, but it should still serve the legion of Fredheads just fine. There are plenty of gems here: the creepy Tom Waits-inspired "Pretty Girl," the infectious guitar pop of "Sugarcane," and the sweet samba of "Soft on My Shoulder." Unfortunately, compared to Eaglesmith's anthemic Lipstick, Lies & Gasoline, the slower-paced, more earnest Falling Stars is a bit of a downer. --Jason Verlinde

Solid top to bottom. No dead weight here. Roger Marin's pedal steel licks sweeten the arrangements. A must have!!!

5 out of 5 stars A review for new Fred fans..........2004-08-19

My drummer dragged me kicking and screaming to see Fred here in St. Louis. I am not a big country music fan. But I went anyway. Wow... Fred is an amazing performer live. He connects with the audience in a way that few artists do. My attention was held for the entire show. I have since purchased most of his catelog.

Now Falling Stars and Broken Hearts is the disk that I just can't get out of my CD travel case! Some old "fredheads" are telling you that it's too commercial or that it's not true to his normal style... But this newby has completely fallen in love with this CD. It's true that it is more commercial musically than other works by Fred, but his great storytelling is exactly the same.

"Indian Motorcycles", "Cumberland County", "I Ain't Ever Givin' In", "Dancin' on the Bar", and "I Wanna Buy Your Truck" are just awesome tunes! Without hesitation, I would recommend this disk to anyone new to Fred's stuff. And if you have the chance to see him live, you must!

5 out of 5 stars Fred bounces back.......2003-11-29

I read some reviews that were not too positive about this release before I had a chance to check it out. I thought that maybe Fred had come out with another mediocre effort, like his "50 Odd Dollars". Not a chance. This disc is excellent. He's managed to get back to some of his best songwriting in four years. Some tunes are just plain gorgeous, and the music is quite diverse. I'm glad I listened for myself. This guy's one of the few bright spots in today's music scene.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing..........2002-07-03

Fred at his finest can't be beat, but this isn't Fred at his finest -- which still means it's good stuff. Still, at least half the record's songs aren't worth multiple listens, and it's hard not to crave the beauty of his older stuff, such as "Drive-In Movie" or the stunning "Things Is Changin."

Considering how much great work he's done, the songwriting here simply doesn't hold up with those other records. Let's hope Fred hasn't lost his touch, but Harold Wilson and I both miss the quiet mastery of his best songwriting.

4 out of 5 stars Essential Country Roll.......2002-06-10

Fred Eaglesmith is developing one of the most interesting body of works in the fringe country area. From Canada, he rocks like Texas. Delbert McClinton and Joe Ely are musical soulmates in this lunar landscape of falling stars and broken hearts. The top track is classic Fred, as good as "I Like Trains" or "105." Fred starts by downing a preacher's good intentions, a girlfriend's attentions and rocks out "I Ain't Ever Givin' In," and then moans, "anytime soon." Washboard percussion and keyboards that squeak like something from the Outer Limits sound off as Fred sings, "What's a pretty girl like you doing without me?" on the second track. A start & stop tempo punctuates "Indian Motorcycles," "Moonlight over the water, shadows on the proches, sniffing down the alleyway..." "Sugarcane" is great swamp rock. On country weeper, "Ordinary Guy," Fred sings, "A plain old shirt & a plain old tie" about a girl that left the guy and winds up, "doesn't even look a tiny bit like me." "Cumberland County" is a great workingman ballad about a snow plow operator, "She said she was tired of the same old story, tired of the sparks against the snow." "Rev It Up" is a rock out rave while "Soft on My Shoulder" is a slow tune with great electric bass. Pedal steel croons on "Dancin' On the Bar," "I'm not as happy as you are; and I'm just trying to get through to tomorrow." The grass is always greener on the other side in "I Wanna Buy Your Truck," "I'm really stuck in this life of mine." "Cold War" is a folk samba with parades and heroes. "Your Sister Cried" is a graceful stately homespun lament. "Marrianne," the hidden track, is way cool. Fred's world is the workingman's country. He rocks and moans on this outstanding collection.

    Album Description

Connie Smith's rise to superstardom in the sixties was a fairytale come true. Discovered at an amateur contest, her debut single "Once a Day" exploded to #1 on the country charts, where it remained for a remarkable eight weeks. No other female country artist had ever held the top spot longer! Over the next decade, she released a string of over forty chart-busting hits. At the height of her career, she dropped out of the Music City limelight to concentrate on her family and her religion. Queen of the Broken Hearts includes Smith's chart-topping classic "Once a Day," plus seven more Top 5 country hits.

5 out of 5 stars One of my best-loved CD's.......2005-11-03

I've been listening to Robin and Linda Williams since about 1973, so one might say I've heard a lot of their music, and this collection is excellent. I listen to it over and over in the car. It's great for listening or singing along. The tunes really pull a person in...of course, many of their tunes DO...
I recommend this CD for anyone who enjoys country, bluegrass, or old-time music. It's so well done.

    5 out of 5 stars Integrity!.......2005-01-27

All Broken Hearts was my first introduction to Robin & Linda, and I originally owned this on vinyl. Robin & Linda have incredible respect for the music they play, and every song they put out is steeped in the traditions that have gone before them. The word that keeps coming to mind is integrity, and there is no better example than these fine folks. This album is perhaps a little more country tinged than their more recent work. All the songs are beautiful, and I agree that Across the Blue Mountains is probably the most evocative and haunting. All in all a gorgeous album that has stood the test of time.

    5 out of 5 stars Wonderfully listenable-Excellent........1999-04-23

First off, this is NOT Robin Williams of 'Mork' fame, this is a different talented Robin, with his lovely wife Linda. This gifted couple are so vocally evocative that when you listen to them you feel as if you are inside their songs and the milieu they are creating. Particularly pay attention to the telling, nearly heartbreaking geographical contradiction in "Across The Blue Mountains", my personal favorite on this disc. This CD is SO worth your money and time! We can also enjoy them on Garrison Keillors' PHC radio show as half of 'The Hopeful Gospel Quartet'. I have no commercial affiliation with anyone mentiond, I'm just a grateful fan.
