The debut effort from stylishly scruffy trio Camila has all the elements of a Latin-pop smash: slick production, sensitive-guy lyrics and choruses designed for arena sing-alongs. It's a glossy, gorgeous package that should incite some serious girl-swooning. Such careful planning, however, leaves little room for genuine excitement. The carefully coiffed threesome veers from pseudo-falsetto stylings to earnest intensity among 12 tracks, including "Abrazame" and "Va Para Ti." It all goes down easy, but none of it makes much of an impact. Only "Sin Tu Amor" manages to generate some real sparkle. English-language track "U Got My Love" hints at a crossover possibility but plays like the B-side to a late '90s Enrique Iglesias hit. --Joey Guerra

Cuando ordene el CD, sabia por la cancion que estan pasando en la radio "Todo Cambio" que por lo menos una cancion buena tenia, pero cuando lo escuche completo...me impresiono que es uno de los pocos CD's que no tiene cancion mala; todas las canciones son espectaculares, las letras y la variedad de ritmos, hacen que sea un MUST HAVE!! Sencillamente ESPECTACULAR!!

If i were given the chance to get all of the music in this album for free or to purchase it. I would definitely not think twice about buying it also. It is worth every penny. and that's what i did.

My friend gave me mp3 file copies of all of the songs in this album. They are absolutely divine. I had to buy my own original copy.

que onda gente, bueno llo primero escuche la cancion de "Abrazame" y me gusto mucho y luego escuche la de "Coleccionista de canciones" entonces luego baje la cancion le les mensione al principio, y pues la escuche todos los dias, y despues, baje todo el cd, y me incontre con una joya de cd, todas las canciones estas bien chidas, especialmente la de "Todo cambio" bueno compren este cd esta de pelos, nada parecido a esto, bueno reik pero este cd es 10 mejor que el de reik, ok gracias leer,

I usually don't do this - type up reviews, but this CD is worth taking the time to rave about and going out and purchasing! It is worth every single dollar!!! You can listen to it over and over and over and not get tired of it. Beautiful lyrics, great music, an overall hit! I have officially become a CAMILA fan!!!

When I first heard "abrazame" i laughed because it sounded like girls singing softly...but anyways i liked the song, and when I downloaded it, I also downloaded "Coleccionista de canciones" Wow that song really shocked me since I first heard it! Beautiful lyrics! Then, I decided to download the whole album, WOW, is the only thing I can say...beautiful songs like Sin tu amor, Me basto, Todo cambio,Me da igual, and my personal favorite, perderte de nuevo, show a group that can really sing. Lovely lyrics in those songs. In "va para ti" you hear a very rock but cool Camila. The songs that I think are no that great are No quiero, u got my love and nanga ti feo, the rest are all future radio hitss!!! I was really surprise with this group, and I am now a big Fan.

Even their harshest critics can't accuse Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops of not trying to have fun. On The Latin Album, they tackle a repertoire that includes big-band favorites and compositions from Piazzolla, Perez Prado, and Aaron Copland (in the form of El Salon México). These are mostly dance tunes, filled with crashing percussion, Latin rhythms, and familiar melodies. To their credit, the Boston Pops get this fiesta right about half the time--opening with Alberto Ginastera's "Malambo," they set a furious, rollicking mood that's heavy on the percussion. They shine on Jacob Gade's "Jalousie" (an early hit for Lockhart predecessor Arthur Fiedler) and on the more atmospheric "Mi Cambio" by César Villalobos. Unfortunately, their arrangement of Piazzolla's "Oblivion" is about as subtle as the music found in soap operas (and about as exciting) and "Perfidia" is a disappointment, "smooth" but hardly sultry. Still, the Pops know how to play their brassy, rhythmic showpieces, and the recorded sound here is excellent. --Jason Verlinde

Don't Bother!.......2002-04-15

I bought this CD at a stoop sale for one dollar, and then sold it at a stoop sale for a dollar or two. I am very glad that I did not pay full price (or even half price) for it. I did not think it was a bad CD, but a bland CD. Every track on it I have heard performed better elsewhere. They are like Muzak versions of great Latin works.

A mood-lifter!.......2001-03-29

Keith Lockhart, the Boston Pops, and the guest artists have a hit in this one! I can almost forget the snow outside when I listen to it. I loved "Jalousie!" And Mariachi Cobre stands out on "Granada" and "Son de la Negra." Five star tracks, both of them, with Steve Carrillo's great vocal work on "Granada" and the spirited interchange between the Pops and Mariachi Cobre's brass sections in "Son de la Negra." Purists may object to the combination of Latin music and an orchestra, but I think it's a treat!

The Boston Pops due a great job on this CD. I really like Batuque. If you are looking for a great CD that will really make you dance this is the one.

Unbelievable talent! National Public Radio gave an interview about this group and their album. After hearing a sample of "Vocal Sampling" I stopped at the music store on my way home from work and purchased it. Their vocal instrumentation is superb! You've gotta check it out for yourself.

Un buen cambio.......2003-04-19

Alejandra da un giro en lo musical, reduciendo el numero de instrumentos y creando un sonido mas natural en esta produccion. Las letras de algunas canciones son muy buenas a mi parecer, como "Toda la mitad", "Cuenta conmigo", "Quema despacio", "Ven" entre otras. Hay para todos los gustos: desde temas lentos hasta rock movido ("Buscando tu amor" es una de mis canciones favoritas). No obstante no le doy 5 estrellas porque hay canciones como "Tocarte" que segun mi punto de vista salen sobrando. Ademas la Guzman siempre ha sido conocida por sus letras despechadas y sus melodias energicas, y este disco no es uno de los mejores exponentes de ese estilo. Sin embargo, como experimento en su carrera, quedo bastante bien, pero la prefiero mas rockera como en otras de sus producciones.

When some Mexican friends of mine gave me this CD I didn't know exactly what to expect, since Alejandra's previous album 'Enorme' was a bit of a disappointment. But on this disc she has changed her usual team of collaborators, this time mainly working with Spanish musicians and songwriters, and to say the least 'Cambio de Piel' blew my socks off! It's by far her most consistent effort - there is not one poor track to be found. Ace drummer Pedro Barceló's dynamic playing and the raw guitar and bass parts are a pure pleasure, and Ale herself sounds as if she's been reborn. The highlights (hard to choose!) are the uptempo 'Guerra Fría', 'Toda La Mitad', and 'Buscando Tu Amor' and the slower songs 'Ven' and 'Como Las Nueces'. This album didn't leave my CD player for days after my first listen. It's so uplifting and full of energy. Simply brilliant.
