It's a foregone conclusion that if you have found this page, you had to make some effort and are quite the dedicated fan of Chicane's brilliant musical endeavors. If you are looking for more of Chicane's music to fill your craving for his lush soundscapes and fluid beats you've arrived at the wrong place. The Radio Edit to this song is nothing you haven't already heard on the album version, and the same goes for the superior album version of Halcyon on Chicane's "Behind the Sun". That leaves the Airscape Remix of Halcyon as the sole reason for purchasing this single. Sadly, the remix is yet another example of an artists song being recycled by a label-mate at the behest of the label execs. This is evident by the fact the song is completely unrecognizable as Chicane and with stabbing synths and drab pop-gun like four-on-the-floor beats it sounds like normal fare at any of a thousand dance clubs. It's quite evident that Chicane had no hand in this remix, and if you purchase this album it should be only because (God forbid) you don't have the full album of Behind the Sun and wanted the original mix of Halcyon. Only the most serious of Chicane collectors should touch this one, and then only for bragging rights. You'll never stick this in your CD player if you already have BtS.

The Airscape Remix is Heaven on Earth..........2001-03-26

When I bought Chicane's "Behind the Sun", I noticed this one little song, one that got less attention the other beautifully created tunes on the CD. That song was called "Halcyon". It was a groovy and laid-back dream-trance-ish type song. I liked it, though not as well as some of the other songs. Later on, I saw the No Ordinary Morning/Halcyon single at my local record store. I thought to myself: "Halcyon? HA! No one's gonna buy this at all! Poor Chicane...". I ended up walking out of the record store, the proud new owner of this No Ordinary Morning/Halcyon single. I immediately popped it into my CD player when I got home and laid down on my bed. I immediately switched it onto the Airscape Remix of Halcyon, and listened.

Now, for the fun part...

The Airscape Remix of Halcyon should be your rationale for buying this single. It takes Halcyon, increases the tempo by about four beats per min., and tosses in some dream-trance and club elements. What Halcyon did wrong, "Airscape" makes up for--in spades. Those four bpms I was talking about? Believe me, you'll be able to tell the difference. It sounds more steadily-paced and club-like than its root song, but dreamier all the same. It will lift you into the peaceful upper atmospheres of your subconscious, never looking back. If you dig Chicane, may the Lord take pity on you who do not buy this single. It'll blow your mind. End of story.

Review of Americans in London.......2006-03-09

The recording is excellent and replaces my old 78 recordings which I transferred to tape some years ago. But they have that horrible hissing noise which spoils my enjoyment of them.
It is to be observed that although the cast is American, the orchestras and conductors are British (except for Debroy Sommers). I know qite a bot about Deboy Sommers and Lew Stone, but can anyone fill me in about Reginald Burston?
The CD is great. Thank you to Amazon for this.

BEAUTIFUL TRACK! INCREDIBLE LYRICS!!.......2000-08-13

I saw this single in a store here in New York City and had to buy it. Never heard it before. It's just that I have every Chicane single released since "Offshore" back in 1997. "No Ordinary Morning" is such beautiful track and the lyrics really tug at your heart strings. Tracy Ackerman's amazing voice you might remember from tracks such as "Solace" by SOLAR STONE but, she's probably best known featured on the gorgeous 1999 track "Everytime" by LUSTRAL. The only slight dissapointment with this single is that there are NO REMIXES for this song. Maybe there will be soon. Cuts 2 and 3 on this single are simply remixes of Chicane's recent track Halcyon. They're ok but, I really would like to hear a club remix of "No Ordinary Morning". So, buy this single. It's a beautiful song with INCREDIBLE lyrics and I'm going to go and hunt down some remixes. Bye, for now.
