About the Artist
"Essential" founder, Buck Giles, was once a student of the renowned Steel Guitarist, Jerry Byrd. Today his mission is to perpetuate the greatness of the music of Hawaii's true renaissance era. The steamship era of the 1920's and '30's began to connect musicians from here and abroad, in the States. There sprung fusions with Jazz and Country that still permeate those genres and others of more recent incarnation.

The Essential Resophonics reintroduce the dream-like style of Nahe Nahe '"sweet" Hawaiian steel guitar in this collection of drifting instrumentals. Tropical inspirations abound in the gentle rolling of the kika kila (steel guitar), 'ukulele, spanish guitar and upright bass. This all-acoustic quartet gently transports the listener through idyllic melodies of a Hawaiian moonlight jam on "Song of the Islands', 'Aloha 'Oe' and 'Sweet Lei Leihua'. Their one original track, 'Easy', seems to reminisce a meandering ride on the horseback through the ranch lands of the Hawaiian cowboy or "paniolo."
