We had ordered this for "The Dukes of Hazzard" theme song for our 4yr old and our whole family has fallen in love with the cd. It makes me want to share some of the old fun and simple shows with my children. I forgot about some of those shows. It brings back good memories for my husband and me and the songs are new and exciting for our children. It's a nice change from children's cd's, but our children still think it's fun. The sound quality is good and the songs included on the cd are a great mix. I would definately recommend this one.

This is a great CD for people who watch a lot of TV -especially TV LAND and reruns of old shows when shows had actual theme songs. I took the CD to work and everyone loved trying to figure out what show the songs were from.

A must have!!.......2007-01-03

Our daughter loved Barney for quite awhile so we purchased both Volume 1 and 2 of Barney's Favorites. We leave Volume 1 in the Car and Volume 2 in the house. Although she has now moved on to watching Elmo she still loves her Barney CD's and we don't go in the car without it. She is 19 months old now and this is the only thing that will appease her on a long car ride. She even sings along herself now.

Of all the young children's music we've heard, this cd far surpasses all the others in choice of songs, vocals (with both Barney and kids, afterall, kids love to hear other kids sing), and sound quality. It's quite addictive-- you'll find yourself singing those songs. It's worth getting.

Very good CD for preschool children.......2005-01-28

I am a teacher's asst, and my teacher uses this cd everyday for learning days of the week, for clean up time, and for a special "pick-a-song" session everyday. The kids absolutely love every song and they eventually learn to sing the words to them. What makes this invaluable is, some of the kids that I work have speech difficulties, but they try to sing with Barney anyway. It is a great way for them to learn how to start speaking. I highly recommend this cd. In addition, kids are more likely to enjoy cleaning up to a fun song than to their parent's monotonous commands!

Not at all what the cover said.......2007-03-28

I purchased this CD for my daughter (20 months old) who loves Barney.
I got this CD instead of the other Barney CD's because it said that it had the opening song and the "I Love You" song. Which is what Barney is mainly known for, those two songs and I couldnt Find another Barney CD that had both of those songs on one CD.
Anyways, i got the CD, read the back to see the tracks, played it..
And the first song was what the CD cover told me it would be, but from the second song onwards, the songs did not match the CD cover, there was no song at all that matched up. It didnt even have the "I Love You" song at the end! I was extreamly anoyed, My daughter loves the I Love You song, she sings it, she asks for it in the car.. but i cant play the one song that she loves most.
I dont know if it is just my CD, but i would asume that it would be every CD that was sold.. of this particular Barney Album
So yes, my rating is low, but the songs are still good. Im just upset that i cant play the one song my daughter can sing to and loves the most.

Barney lays down some outstanding tracks here with his signature theme, classic covers like John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt (his name just happens to be my name too, yo!), remixes like Pop Goes the Weasel and traditional standards like Do Your Ears Hang Low? & Its Bitsy Spider.

I'm telling you yo, it doesn't get any better than this disc. I think this stuff's da bomb, and my kids dig it as well. You can have your Teletubbies, Wiggles, Cheetah Girls..take 'em. Just give me some old school Barney, and me & my boys will kick it old school. Know what I'm saying?

Speechless..so dark and cold.......2007-01-12

This is 'the' CD to own. If you like Burzum, Darkthrone, Mayhem, or Immortal you will absolutely love this. This is the blackest of the black. Kvlt black metal for corpse paint commandos only. Too bad this band broke up, they had so much potential. I can't even describe this. It captures the emotion of isolation perfectly.

Pure skull shattering Norwegian black metal.......2006-04-21

I came across this gem in a local mom and pop CD store while looking for some good black metal. The bored looking guy behind the desk told me to look no further than this masterpiece, so I bought it. I love the sleeve art, very primitive, yet pure black metal. And the music? Let's not get me started. Alright, I'm started. From the opening gargling-razors roar of "Barney Theme Song" to the moody, atmospheric synths of "Apples And Bananas," this disk delivers on all war-torn fronts. I played "Sally The Camel" for my friend Jeff in the car one day, and he raised his horns in the air and announced allegiance to the Barney underground.

Highly recommended for fans of later Bathory and Graveworm!

My son loves Barney, so I thought this would be a great way for us to listen to him instead of always watching TV. We liked the song selection on this CD. The only thing different about it, is the songs are re-made. They are not the same voices as on the show. Those are the songs and melodys we know but for a two year old who doesn't really know the difference it wasn't a big deal.
Overall......good CD.

Good CD, but can barely hear Barney.......2004-09-27

My 16 month olddaughter loves this CD. She lit up as soon as she heard the Barney theme song and cried when it was time to get out of the car. The only problem with this CD is that when Barney sings, you can barely hear him. You have to raise the volume really high. If the kids are singing with him, it's not so bad, but on the songs he sings by himself, it's annoying.

The CD itself is good and keeps my daughter happy in the car.

Typical Barney.......2004-06-08

This is one of my son's favorite Barney CDs. He can listen to it over and over and never get bored. He even sings along with the songs and enjoys all of them. I would definetly recommend this CD is your child likes Barney. A lot of the songs teach kids great lessons like everyone is special, we all grow, friends and manners are good, buckle your seat belt etc. The downside of the CD is, like most Barney CDs, the music can get really annoying after a while for the parent. But if your kids like Barney then they will enjoy this CD.

Barney Was Great! So Is This Collection! .......2006-09-13

The late, great Barney Kessel could play guitar with his feet better than Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton----with all of their fuzz boxes, distortion chambers, and inane three chord, twelve barre redundancy----could play with their hands. Listen to Kessel play on "Our Love Is Here To Stay" and "My Old Flame." That's brilliant technique. He was truly a giant among jazz guitarists. I highly recommend this collection of great American standards by a truly great American guitarist.

This is really more on his body of work than this release alone. Get anything you can get your hands on by Barney. Everything he did was great and it was never about what he could do but about the music. I've been reading some webpages about him recently to find out more about him. First off, he may well have been the most recorded guitarist of all time. Like the guitar on the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds?" It's Barney. Elvis' "Return to Sender?" Barney, too. He did work with the Beatles. In fact, "counted among his fans such superstars as the late Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison.

"Barney Kessel is incredible. He's just amazing . . . . Nobody can play guitar like that," Lennon said following a recording session in the 1970s.

Harrison was even more enthused, telling an interviewer in the 1960s: "Barney Kessel is definitely the best guitar player in this world, or any other world."
I'd always heard that he was very friendly to up-and-comers and everybody, really. What I didn't know is that he was a devoted Christian, acc. to his wife. That's really nice to know. There are very few great guitarists left. You have Herb Ellis, Bucky Pizzarelli from the days when there really was jazz. Barney was among the best. Seriously, get anything by him. My particular favorites are this one, "Easy Like," and "Solo." But they're all great. His albums are not your typical guitar as frontman shredding away but real group efforts. Very enjoyable. For Barney, it was always about the music first.

For all of the technique on hand in the 21st century, most of it is empty . Barney Kessel could play whatever was put in front of him, or compose limitless variations on the spot; elite technique, always in the service of the music.

Kessel & Coop Swing Unconventionally.......2000-12-23

I'm generally not a big fan of experimental instrumentation in jazz, especially swing. I like the traditional ensembles with saxes, trumpets, trombones, bass, piano & drums (preferably brushes). But this disc is an exception. It features swing guitarist Barney Kessel with a first rate (if traditional) rhythm section and the unusual addition of west coast tenorman Bob Cooper on (wait for it).....oboe! But what a treat! On the tracks where the oboe is featured it's done really well and counters the guitar in a relaxed and natural way. A big part of it is the careful arranging work - very impressive. Recorded in 54 and 55, this disc features 12 tracks, no alternate takes, and if you didn't guess from the title, they're all standards - both swinging up tempo charts and ballads. Highly recommended swing guitar with a twist.

Much like Kessel's other 1950's recordings for Contemporary, this one swings hard and features great playing by Barney and his associates on this one; Bud Shank, Arnold Ross, Harry Babsin and Shelly Manne. 12 tracks plus 2 alternate takes mostly made up of standards like April in Paris, Tenderly and That's All. A nice combination of up tempo swing and ballads and great, great chemistry between the players here. If you like swing guitar this one is highly recommended.
