I wasn't expecting to have 4 discs for this price, and the music is a quality selection of film music, giving a good scope of the genre, and a very listenable transfer.

For the price, this CD is a great bargain. The musical selections, as you might expect, are mixed in quality ranging from extraordinary to so so, the balance being worthwhile and interesting. Sonically the CD is excellent.

On the soundtrack to a PBS TV Special that coincided with the Christmas Season of 1992, this set reached the the Top 10 that Christmas in several European countries. La Ross, ever able to meld her voice around difficult arrangements and changing styles,once again holds her own with two opera stars.

The novel "Upside Down" seemed challenging enough; Ross was able to hit the notes, while all the while adjusting the speed of her soft and airy voice to adjust to the tempo of the track. Even Ross' critics who contend her voice is too light and airy, or that she is one to emphasize style over substance in her pop work would have to concede that neither is sacrificed for the other here. Both elements are at play in a presentation full of grace and finnesse-which is what such a degree of a great performance would require.

Here, she shines on solos "Amazing Grace" and "Ave Maria". "Ave Maria" is notoriously difficult to deliver-especially in a dead language. Ostensibly, "Ave Maria" is in Latin. Thrown in for good measure is her then-current British chart entry-that is, "If We Hold On Together" from "The Land Before Time", a huge hit in Japan years earlier that contains all the majestic power of an opera.

Speaking of scaling majestic heights, the cut spent two years in the top-twenty in Japan and subsequently was certified quadruple-platinum and was at the time of its pinnacle the best-selling single by a foreign artist in Japan.

Excellent Music Collection.......2005-12-05

I purchased this CD on iTunes and I love it. Martha's CD collection is very tasteful and the music is great background music. I'm not a big fan of Christmas music sung by pop stars, and so I avoid most modern releases, but this CD is all classical. Particularly love the song sung by II Divo and Placido Domingo. This is a classical album sure to please everyone.

When I played it in my car my I got compliments on it. Way to go Martha!!!

Very Nice and Intimate.......2005-11-14

This is a wonderful CD. I agree with Martha Stewart's notes that this music will be great at a social gathering like a dinner party. I feel this music would work well in an intimate shop or restaurant, but would not work well in a larger retail establishment or a busy restaurant. In my opinion, the softer music would be drowned by the surrounding noise. For those people who like their music "traditional" and "straight forward" this album is beautiful. She has put together a perfect holiday CD. If you this collection and the presentation of the music, I highly suggest looking at John Tesh's Christmas CDs. His music follows a similar style.

I remember my class performing the 12 Days of Christmas hawaiian style when I was a little girl. Years of searching and no luck until now! I'm a mainlander now, but this music takes me back to my wonderful childhood in Hawaii. Na Leo is a wonderful compliment to Iz- I highly recommend it!
