Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Whole lotta fun.......2007-01-04

This is partially in response to Nicolas C's negative review. Actually, I guess if you don't like it, that's your right. And it's true that this is not the sort of music that young French people typically listen to, because what they DO listen to is generally cr*p.

So who listens to this kind of music? If you like light-hearted, lively jazz with a (typically French) sense of irony, or if you want something to remind you of a summer night in the 6th arrondissement, you'll like Dany Brillant. No, he is not Jacques Brel or Georges Brassens. He is not Daftpunk or Noir Desir either. Et alors...? If you want to listen to those guys, get THEIR albums. If you want something fun and different, give Dany Brillant a try.

This is my first review for Amazon.com, and I would never have thought it would have been for this album. So this will only be a short review, and its only aim is to give my opinion as well as a music freak than a french person ; so : NO, this is not what young (and others...) people listen to in France, NO this is not great music, NO, if you want to be introduced to french music, this is not the right album (neither the right musician). This is pure commercial stuff, trying to reach a mediocre-"rock-a-billy"-nostalgic public.
If you still want to try channel-France, better look for the following informations : mano negra ; mano solo ; Jean-Louis Murat ; Superflu ; Renaud ; and for the old (but excellent) ones, try : Georges Brassens ; Jacques Brel ; Jean Ferrat (esp. when he sings texts by Louis Aragon) ; Leo Ferré ; Caussimon ; Barbara ; Frehel & Aristide Bruant. This has definitely nothing to do with Dany Brilliant.

5 out of 5 stars A must have French CD.......1999-12-10

Hello French music lovers. If there's ever a French CD you want to own, this is the CD. The music is fantastic and Dany is "Brilliant". There are 20 great songs on this CD, ranging from easy listening, to dance and romantic. I bought this CD in Paris in Aug 99 and have not stopped listening to it since. The CD is also great as backgound music, in cafe bars (for those who are sick of Edith or acordian music) or at home in your own lounge.
