Thousands of people have been both entertained and touched by Ms. Spielberg’s live concerts. Ms. Spielberg has a natural talent for making audiences immediately comfortable, and it is this element that turns what could easily be an ordinary evening at the concert hall into a very special concert Event. Ms. Spielberg’s gifts have won her a place among the nation’s most respected contemporary pianists, as well as a slot on Steinway’s Artist Roster. Her ten recordings include three albums of original piano solos (Heal of the Hand, Songs of the Spirit, Dreaming of Summer), two recordings for holiday (Spirit of the Holidays, In the Heart of Winter), two recordings of American standards and film songs (With a Song in My Heart, Unchained Melodies), original pieces for solo piano and piano/ensemble (In the Arms of the Wind) , Mother, a collaborative CD containing instrumentals, sung ballads and songs celebrating mother and motherhood, and a recording of lullabies (Beautiful Dreamer). A new holiday collection is in the works for Winter 2002.

Dreaming of Summer is the debut release of original piano solos on her own playMountain Music label, a company she co-founded with her husband Larry Kosson. Ms. Spielberg supported the recording in 2001 with a 25-city concert tour. "This album may be the finest collection of songs she has ever recorded," writes WindandWire.com. "The music has an emotional and musical complexity that is refreshing." "Her playing is so expressive that flowers often seem to bloom through the stereo speakers"(Barnes&Noble.com). The CD earned a "Finalist Award" from New Age Voice Magazine in June 2001 in the ‘Best Acoustic Instrumental’ category. The CD, which has also been released in Thailand, China, Hong-Kong, Korea and Malaysia, received radio play on over 200 stations in the U.S.

Ms. Spielberg began touring the US in 1996. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in a sold-out performance at the Weill Recital Hall in 1997 and has performed there twice since. Other memorable performances include a guest spot on the PBS television special, The Soul of Christmas: A Celtic Music Celebration with Thomas Moore; live performances on CBS Saturday Morning and Good Morning Arizona; a private concert for the factory workers at the Steinway & Sons historic piano factory in New York, and benefits for the Epilepsy Foundation (Carnegie Hall), and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Robin Spielberg’s interest in music and healing grew when she witnessed first-hand, the positive effect music had on her own baby daughter (born prematurely) during her four-month stay in the neo-natal intensive care unit. A CD entitled Beautiful Dreamer was the musical result of this experience, a recording of lullabies and songs for the parent & child on solo piano. Ms. Spielberg’s work with music and healing has been documented in The New York Times and in segments on LifeTime Live and ABC News. Beautiful Dreamer was hailed by Child Magazine as one of "The Best of 2000", and also earned accolades in Parenting and The Washington Post.. Robin Spielberg is now Celebrity Spokesperson for The American Music Therapy Association.

This time out, Baby Einstein shines a light on the Christmas tree and promises peace in the nursery, if not on earth. Familiar carols like "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night," and "Joy to the World" undergo the expected twinkly xylophone treatment, but a clutch of others get swept off to the Caribbean (the steel drum-studded "Twelve Days of Christmas"), the plains of Africa (the earthy, percussive "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"), and additional exotic locales. After yuletide stopoffs in France, Japan, and Germany, the "Holiday Concert" part of the disc takes over, featuring brainier but still festive selections from Bach, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. This mid-CD switchover barely registers--each of the 28 mini-tracks (most average a minute and a half) does its part to stir visions of sugarplums and furthers the possibility of a truly silent night for the Santa's-lap set. --Tammy La Gorce

Not very interesting.......2005-12-02

Purchased for my 1 year old at 6.99 in Target, thought it would be a good deal, but it is putting us all to sleep. Wish I would have read the reviews first. This is not going to be something we play for the holiday.

worst Baby Einstein yet!!!!!!!!.......2005-11-19

Overall very disappointing - when you see the original baby einstein, it is very basic ... but you can see how a baby would find it interesting. The images are constantly changing, the puppets are cute, but everything is relevant. But you also relize that this is a pretty primitive video ... done in someone's basement (practically). The Baby Santa is worse than this.

1. the music is ok ... but there could have been more variety ... perhaps even sung in other languages
2. the puppet shows are ok ... but missing something
3. the stationary images of holiday items are limited and repetitive ... this holiday isn't only made up of wrapped boxes and ornaments
4. the real life images are also limited ... where are the images of people ice skating, some Christmas carolers, some hot chocolate & cookies ... or why not even a palm tree with lights
5. Julie has used her daughters in this dvd again ... and they are getting way too old as well as their friends.

The whole dvd is lackluster .... it seems very obvious that this was rushed out in order to make it for the holiday shoppers. I'd highly suggest checking it out from the library or a video rental store before purchasing.

Baby Einstein disappointment.......2005-11-17

We are Really big fans of the Baby Einstein Collection, and have all the CD's, which are wonderful. So, happily when I bought this one for my 15 month old, I was looking forward to the same quality of songs, but this one is redundant (3 versions of Jingle Bells), and boring. There is so much fantastic Christmas music, and the makers could've done sooo much better. Would return it if I could.

HI ALL! I BOUGHT THIS CD AND THE DISNEY FAMILY CHRISTMAS ALBUM AND I RECOMMEND THAT ONE INSTEAD OF THIS ONE. THIS CD HAS A LOT OF VERY SHORT COMPLIATIONS FROM 20 SECONDS TO A LITTLE OVER MINUTE FOR LIKE EACH SONG. ACCEPT A FEW THAT ARE LITTLE LONGER. THE OTHER ALBUM HAS VERY BEAUTIFUL MUSIC SUNGS KIDS, ADULTS AND ARE THE FULL LENGTH SONGS. I RECOMMEND PEOPLE BUYING THE OTHER CD INSTEAD! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

I loved this new album from Robin. I haven't stopped listening to it since I opened it in my mail, today. I found it very beautiful, spiritual and inspiring. Its "ethnic" feel took me away from my often-times hectic life to a place where I could be "in the world, yet not of it", and reminded me of who I am and why I celebrate this Holiday. Thanks Robin, I needed that.

Several years in the planning stages, Robin Spielberg's collection of Chanukah songs arranged for solo piano is a masterpiece. One of the most elegant and graceful pianists around, Spielberg keeps the arrangements of the traditional pieces simple, letting the melodies sing their messages of hope and peace. With the help of her ninety-nine-year-old grandmother, Jennie Spielberg, Robin researched and arranged songs of Yiddish, Sephardic, Israeli, Ashkenazi , European, and American origin for inclusion in this collection. I'm not Jewish, but love the warmth and beauty of these pieces. Many are rather haunting, but a sense of light and hope prevails throughout. Also included are Spielberg's original "West Bank Serenade", a stunning new piece composed during the weeks of the first suicide bombing attacks in the West Bank, and a fresh new version of "First Night" which first appeared on "In the Heart of Winter" several years ago. Along with the other traditional Chanukah songs are "Sabbath Prayer" from "Fiddler on the Roof", "One" by U2, and the Israeli national anthem which comes from a theme by Smetna. All of the pieces are lovingly arranged and played, and are obviously very close to Spielberg's heart. With the world situation as difficult as it is right now, this album takes on a very special importance and meaning. Very highly recommended!

The Eaken Piano Trio is a glorious combination of terrific talent! They play so well together, it is as if there are six hands, playing three different instruments with one mind. Try any recording you can find of this tremendous trio!

Add a little "class" to your Holiday.......1999-12-16

This CD, like 1996's "Home for the Holidays", has the Eaken Piano Trio providing a wonderful change to the usual holiday musical fare. Here we get some familiar, and some not so familiar, holiday tunes presented in an intimate chamber setting (piano, cello, and violin) with wonderfully inventive arrangements. At times the music is jazzy, at times "classical", at times light and bouncy, at other times quiet and contemplative. But it is always beautiful. In addition to Christmas numbers a number of these selections center on Chanukah as well. This music is perfect for serious listening - the creativity will amaze - also as background music for entertaining during the holidays. Pick this one up and while you're at it grab the Eaken Piano Trio's earlier release, "Home for the Holidays", as well... at this price you can't afford not to.

I hope this talented ensemble releases some non-holiday music as well, to entertain us for the other eleven months of the year.

I was introduced to Chicago a cappella several years ago by a friend and have been a subscription series holder ever since. They are an incredibly talented group of singers. They have a unique combination of humor and artistic talent which they balance very well. When I listen to O Magnum Mysterium, I have to close my eyes to take in all of the blended nuances of the piece. It is absolutely beautiful. It was after hearing them perform this piece live at Christmastime that I quickly purchased this CD during intermission. I cannot recommend this group enough, and of all the CD's I currently own by Chicago a cappella (four in totem), this is truly my favorite and truly demonstrates their diversity and talent. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this CD, and if you're in the Chicago area, come and see them live. They are truly a treasure!
