You don't hear too many bands from Spain, but if this album is any indication, perhaps we should. The group's take on Brazilian music is nothing less than wonderful, thanks in large part to Ana D's vocals, which have to be the most seductive since Astrud Gilberto. She can even take a hokey standard like "More" and turn it into something gorgeous in her native tongue. There's a minimalism about the music that brings the voice to the fore, and there's also a very wry sense of humor--the band's not above turning up the cheese factor with primitive rhythm machines and God-awful keyboard sounds. That they can make it all gel speaks volumes for their prowess, but most of all for Ana herself. An absolute gem. --Chris Nickson
Product Description
An astonishingly original mixture of cinematic electro-disco, casio tones, Brazilian flavors, and elegant cosmic imagery.
