Okay, but I've heard this before.......2003-08-01

First, the price is a little rough.. for 4 songs. The songs are good, though. Matt Sharp seems to be going for a more mature and introspective sound since his days with the Rentals and Weezer. The songs are very dark. No light pop songs here. To describe what the songs sound like brings to mind one band - Wilco. The songs are incredibly similar to the sound of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Not that it is a bad comparison. Its just not cutting any "new ground".

This is a great listen, Good Bye West Coast is the best listen so far but if you know Matt Sharps music that always seems to change as you listen to the album more times. I am looking forward to more new material, so hurry up Mr. Sharp.

Ever wondered what would have happened if Hillbillies and Hayseeds put down their fiddles and banjos and got their hands on some Space-Age technology? Wonder no more. In 1971 academic and experimental music composer Gil Trythall was commissioned by Athena Records and Studio boss Rick Powell to record a Switched On Bach for "country folk". Trythall dutifully ran country and bluegrass standards, and the hits of the day, through the valves and circuits of a battery of Moog synthesizers and related hardware. The resulting 1972 album, Country Moog (Switched On Nashville) is certainly unlike anything ever heard before (or since, for that matter). Equal parts virtuosic musicianship, bizarre musiqueconcrete effects and just plain enter taining, the original album was popular enough to spawn a sequel, 1973's Nashville Gold (Switched On Moog). Cited by Bob Moog as one of his favourite "Moog" recordings, both albums are included here for their first appearance on CD with a number of rare or previously unreleased tracks, exclusive liner notes, historical photos and recollections from Gil Trythall himself! Hillbillies in space!!! Country and Bluegrass hits as played on the Moog Synthesizer in 1972!! Rare and previously unreleased tracks! First time on CD! WOW, got this today and it's terrific! Great sound,liner notes.... quality reissue all around. Hat's off to Mr.Thrussell and Omni!! I hope this is just the tip of the iceberg for this company cause i love everything they have put out so far.

1970's country moog!.......2005-04-26

I loved this album when I was a little kid in the 1970's. I used to play it at 16 speed instead of 33, though, because it sounded more bluesy at a slower tempo. Can't do that with a cd.
Although I loved the album, I gave it 4 stars here because of the OUTRAGEOUS PRICE!!! Over $40!! Why does it cost so much? Are you just begging people with the vinyl to spread it all over the internet???? Come on!! $15 is too much, this is why people download music for free in the first place. If the cd's were reasonably priced, no one would bother with getting it off the internet. Try $8. If cds cost $8, sales would go up astronomically. Stop trying to get over a dollar a song for every song from every person. GREEDY PEOPLE.
Anyhow, this is a GREAT ALBUM but not worth $40.
