Very deep....................2007-05-25

Black Heaven is now the group that emerged from the German, now legendary band Mantus. Fronted by Martin Schindler with Thalia supplying some of the vocal duties. Black Heaven, on this album, weave a a beautiful techno web with bright and sometimes somber melodies that never sound grim. In fact, you'll find yourself wanting to dance to some of the melodies. But, the surprise is hidden within. Sung in German, Martin and Thalia switch vocal duties and duet, and weave a mezmerizing techno masterpiece. But if you translate the lyrics into English, that is where the real surprise lays. The opening song, sung by Thalia, "In Deinen Augen" [In Your Eyes],

translates as :
I wander through the streets
And looks blind forwards
In which direction does the sea lie?
So many foreign people
They pass me
Because I, nevertheless, do not belong to them
The stars shine points
Are so infinitely quiet
And donate to me a little light
I will sit down
Where there is still future
The night a new day promises

Once I will find you
And if I myself completely remain
I know I get closer always
And finds what I search
So purely and wonderfully

But later in the album, the words take and even darker tone

Pain comes quietly and does not stop
He penetrates by me through, during the moment
He shows to me that I something else can feel

Am forgotten past, and alone
If just pain for me is then a proof

Schmerz is a slower paced song, with a plucky guitar type sound and a full bass bottom sung by Martin and Thalia supplying some background vocals. A truly moving piece...but disturbing once you understand the topic.

I highly reccomend this work. It is different sounding than the other Black Heaven releases. If you like Dust Of Basement, or the techno side of L'ame Immortelle, then I reccomend you check this out.
