Niño Rivera Y Su Conjunto Orquestal.......2004-08-17

This is a great recording (Havana 1980) and one of the few recordings still available by Cuba's grand tresero (tres guitar player) and composer Andres Echevarria, aka "El Niño Rivera". For this 1980 session, "El Niño" brought to the studio other luminaries of cuban music such as great veteran sonero Miguelito Cuni, "El Guajiro Mirabal" and Jorge Varona, on trumpets, Gustavo Tamayo on "guiro", Emilio del Monte on drums, "El Niño Leon" on conga drums and the great Ruben Gonzalez, on piano. This is a unique album guaranteed to delight all afro-cuban music fans. A must buy and get your copy while you still can.

Nino Rivera [Andres Ecchevarria] has been a standard bearer of the real authentic Cuban ritmo caliente music-recorded in Cuba, for decades. His playing on the guitar "tres" is superb, and altho he has been less well known than the truly famous and influential Arsenio Rodriguez, his hot style tres playing is just as hot. Recorded in Havana on the famous Egrem label, many other old but great musicians are along for the ride, like pianist Ruben Gonzales. Very good!
