Travel back in time to an era when songs were created to enjoy like a rich desert that your mom would make. Howard Keel and his various duet partners have done just this! This CD has a wonderful selection from the great musicals of the 1950's and makes you smile....sigh....and seek to hear them again and again. I would encourage you to add this to your collection as I have. I've even shared it with many of my friends who have come back with the same remarks of great music from one of the great singers of our recent past.

Strong voice from soundboard recording .......2007-06-05

Maybe this show isn't as electrifying as the 1969 Vegas shows, but the polish of a skilled performer in strong voice is here with a humor and a charisma that no performer has ever matched. If one wants to truly enjoy the pure showman who, nonetheless, was human, this is an excellent cd to have because, among other things, this show sounds more relaxed and natural than, say, the "Aloha Show", where Elvis was sometimes nervous.

Energetic Elvis with substandard sonics.......2006-10-23

Another special-interest offer for the EP completist. This concert was from 1974, the year, it's written, that the Presley Show really coalesced. The under-appreciated vinyl live in Memphis from show '74, really brings home that point - Elvis was relaxed, yet vital, and the shows were well-paced.
It's fun to listen to soundboard/mixing board recordings because we get a sense of the kind of sound balance Elvis preferred. Ofcourse much has been written about his dislike of the mixes over the years. Here the background singers are well-balanced and the band has alot of "pop", unlike so many Elvis tracks.
Regarding the tracks, well, maybe he was a bit too relaxed - many tracks break up in pieces - but the good spirits absolutely pervade every song, and four hang together beautifully, namely "If You Love Me...", "Let Me Be There", "Steamroller Blues" and "Big Boss Man" - they certainly could have bolstered the studio albums from the time. I enjoyed hearing "Bridge Over Troubled Waters", associating it mostly with El's '70-'72 period.
There are three additional cuts, one of which might make the pupils dilate - "Alright, Okay, You Win" - done with upfront piano in a jaunty shuffle. It's sounds very unrehearsed, as Elvis seems to be in the wrong key and pitch, and once again the joyful mood comes through. Although, if you're looking for something as "finished" as the Peggy Lee or Louis Prima versions, forget it. "Blue Christmas" is worth hearing but nothing like the original or the '68 TV Special version. The CD closes with a remarkable "Trying To Get To You. Remarkable until it falls apart just before the expected big finish.

Rare Form on this FTD release.......2005-10-17

This is a 1974 soundboard release on the collewctor's label Follow that Dream. From the opening lines of See See Rider it is plain that Elvis is in both good humor and voice for this performance. He sings great versions of See See Rider, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Lawdy Miss Clawdy, Blue Suede Shoes, Fever and many others. On a scale of 1 to ten I rate his performance an eight out of ten. It does not have the raw energy of his 68,69,70 performances or the dramatic flair of the February and June shows of 1977 but it is a great addition to a fan's collection.

A tender side of Jackie.......2003-08-06

I love the soothing sound of Jackie's singing voice. Though the songs are not in English, the emotions come through. It's a very pleasant way to have a part of Jackie with you whether driving in the car or relaxing at home.

Karate chops & soulful ballads.......2003-03-26

I guess it comes as no surprise that someone as graceful as Jackie Chan would have the voice of an angel. No surprise to me, at least.

I've been anxiously awaiting the domestic release of this album for years, so you can imagine how excited I was to add "Dragon's Heart" to my collection.

Chan's singing voice is distinct -- combining the vocal stylings of western singers (think Scott Stapp of Creed), with certain qualities of his native country. While his broken-English sometimes distracts from the true meaning of the song, the tenderness in his voice will make you forget about any questionable lyric translations.

My favorite song on the album is "Japanese", which exposes Chan's most vulnerable side.

There have been a number of Hollywood stars that have attempted a music career and failed (Don Johnson), but there are many more that have succeeded (Eddie Murphy). I'm happy to say that Jackie Chan is part of the latter category.

Chan's songs are a breath of fresh air in a world filled with formulaic, corporate music.

Thsi is a great CD, don't get me wrong, but it's a bit decieving.Though it is called "Heart of The Dragon", it is actually the first 12 tracks of "Kung Fu Meets The Dragon". Other than that, it's good, but I'd suggest seeking out the original "Kung Fu..."
