Pais e Filhos.......2004-08-23
The cd "As Quatro Estacoes" is one of my favorite cds in my collection. The Pais e Filhos track tells it how it is. My favorite line in the song talks about you blame your parents for everything this is wrong their children like yourself and what will you be when grow up? I think that Renato Russo was saying here that we all are learning and it's not easy being a parent and we all know it's not easy growing up.
The best album of Legiao Urbana.......2004-07-21
The most sucessful rock band of Brazil, and their album "As Quatro Estacoes", "The Four Season" in english. Comparing to the three albums that they had prevously made, this CD shows a complete change of style, with songs with words about love and feelings of the human being. Well, many disliked the changes, mainly the punks, but is still their most sucessful album, and, most of all, their best.
All the songs there turned in big hits when the album made its debut, mainly "Ha Tempos", "Monte Castelo", "Pais e Filhos" and "Meninos e Meninas". And is good to see how much talent Renato Russo had (he was the composer of 90/95% of the songs of the band, and also the vocalist and far away the main character inside the band). His voice was incredible and his words expressed the true feelings of the teens.
Of course that all the other albums of the band are very good, mainly "Legiao Urbana", "Dois", "Que Pais e Esse" and "V". Although Renato is dead since 1996 and the band does not exist anymore, is incredible the fact that they still sell 350000 per year. But the fact that all the songs (no exceptions) are very well made, and turned in very big hits that continue to be listened in most radios of Brazil (the album made its debut in 1989) is sufficient to make this album the best that Legiao Urbana could have made in its career. Simply amazing.
International music doesn't get better any then this !.......2003-04-21
I truly love and belive that Legiao urbana is by far the best brazilian band todate... Not only are they original but also very talented.I mean we have other great bands out there such as "Engenheiros do hawaii" , "titas" , "Beto guedez" , "Milton nascimento" , " 14 biz" ,"cazuza" im realy not trying to take those amazing braziliam arist out but legiao had something that made them stand out more and that was being truly deep "profundo" with Renato's lirycs that was so intense in every song! I own albums like " as quatro astecoas" , "legiao urbana" ,"dois" , "tempestade" , " o descobrimento do brasil" , "5" and i have to say that this album " as quatro estacoa" is their best! Fav songs ? Well, i love " pais e filhos" , "quando o sol bater no janale do sel cuarto" , "monte castelo" , meninos e mininas" etc... Over-all ?Worth your money. Tchau !
Legião at its best!.......2002-03-14
This is a wonderful CD from the late Legião Urbana, with very catchy and moody songs. Just listen to "Pais e Filhos", where Renato Russo tells us about what he feels about father and son relationships, weaving a soulful and broad panel of all kinds of situations: divorced parents kids, abandoned children and spoiled, selfish and ungrateful ones.
"Ha Tempos" reminds us of the rough times we're living, with AIDS taking its toll and desperation driving the more tender souls into taking their own lives.
"Monte Castelo" was originally a poem by St. Thomas Aquino, beautifully enhanced by Renato's music and very soulfully sang.
Monte Castelo.......2001-10-21
This CD is very very good. Each music is a music, each one make me remember many things. I love "Eu Era Um Lobisomem Juvenil", "Monte Castelo" and "Há Tempos". They wrote "Feedback Song For a Dying Friend" for their friend, Cazuza, other great brazillian singer, who died some years ago.

Keep Listening.......2000-08-25
If you have no idea who these Legião Urbana guys are, don't buy this particular album. The curious should seek out something like "As Quatro Estaçoes" or "5." I am a big fan and even I didn't like this album the first time I listened to it. But after giving it a second chance, I rate it as highly as any other album of theirs.
The jacket states that this album is the history of the lives of the band members. I feel bad for them, as the album is full of sorrow and broken dreams. But it also resonates with hope and the purity of love. In my opinion Mr. Russo and his (unfortunately) almost anonymous bandmates are true artists. They managed to share what was in their hearts with their listeners.
the best.......1999-10-16
Legião Urbana was one of the most importants bands of Brazil. The lyrics are so full of true... Everyone love then...
The Best Brazilian Band Ever!!!.......1998-11-27
Legião Urbana is one of those bands that can't die. Their CDs are being sold a lot, ever after Renato Russo's death. He was the best poet of brazilian rock, and this title made him one of the most important musicians in our music. His albuns inspire poets and musicians (like me) to try to do what he did. This album, "Uma Outra Estação", is one of the most varied albuns from Legião. Very good pop songs ("As Flores do Mal", "Comédia Romântica"), very emotional ballads ("Clarisse", "Antes das Seis") and also a very good song in English ("Mariane"). If you can, buy all of their CDs, because each one is better than the other. Renato Russo has also two solo albums, one in English ("The Stonewall Celebration Concert" - oh yes, he was bissexual) and one in Italian ("Equilíbrio Distante"). I think there is also a solo in Portuguese, called "O Último Solo" ("The Last Solo"). Even if you don't speak Portuguese, buy it!
The Leader of all Teens.......1998-11-18
Legião Urbana, such an old band, with such young fans. It's incredible how the lyrics of R. Russo can express love itself so well. "The lyrics talk about a love that Russo could never have." This album in a CD full of unreleased tracks from the band, some that even doesn't have R.R.'s vocals in it. Just think of it, some of the songs of this guys used to have Bible passages with passages from a poem from the fifteenth century, and it made incredible success. He was a guy with a open and unique mind, that could make songs like angels would like to, in a young rhythm, leading the teens to his shows and thoughts. Anyone can enjoy it. URBANA LEGIO OMNIA VINCIT.
They are the best !.......1998-11-12
Legião Urbana is an unique band, their songs are strong and meaningful. This particular album brings great songs, even for those who don't understand portuguese. Enjoy it !

Amadurecimento.......2006-06-08
Most people here in Brazil, consider Dois or V as the best Legião Urbana albuns. Of course they are very good works. But, O Descobrimento do Brasil, in music and lyrics, show a more mature Legião Urbana! For me, the best of the band.
Engaging lyrics provide for an exploration into love.......1999-06-17
I wouldn't consider myself a fan of Legiao Urbana, but this cd is great. Love in the Afternoon is a haunting treatise on the effects of love found and lost. While there are echoes of sadness and regret, the song also talks about how to deal with loss. It is my favorite song on the album. Perfeicao is a very pointed criticism of the problems in Brazil. I applaud Legiao for including a political song that doesn't overshadow the beauty of the other songs.

Customer Reviews:
The album is very good, but its not the best of Legiao.......2004-07-23
Legiao Urbana and their second album, Dois. Perhaps one of the most memorable albuns ever made in Brazil. But I don't think that this album is the best of the band's career. Indeed, "Indios" is an awesome song and others like "Eduardo and Monica", "Fabrica" and "Andrea Doria" mantain in a high level the level of the CD, but the rest of songs does not have the same quality of these four. Of course, you can say to me that I am asking too much but first in all I am a great fan of the band, and I already heard ALL albuns of the band, so let me just say, their first album, "Legiao Urbana", with "Sera", "Geracao Coca-Cola", "Ainda e Cedo" "Soldados", "Por Enquanto" and "Baader-Meinhof Blues" is far better. And sure that I could not miss their best album, "as Quatro Estacoes", where ALL songs are very good and turned in hits in the brazilian radios.
I am not saying that this album is bad. Not at all, the album is just well-made like all the others of the band. But if you look for a Legiao Urbana with songs of impact, look for "Legiao Urbana" (their first album) or even "Que Pais e Este", their third albuns full of songs vith really heavy words, or if you look for a more soft and calm style, go ahead with "As Quatro Estacoes". Do not miss this CD, however, if you really like the band. Otherwise, think two times before buying it.
The best Brazilian rock album of all time.......2002-05-26
I first heard Legiao Urbana while I was living in Brazil in 1987 and immediately became a fan. 15 years later, Dois is still one of my favorite albums of all time. The music is timeless and the lyrics are unparalleled (if you don't speak Portuguese, you're missing out). I also strongly recommend the band's self-titled album, but "Dois" is their best effort.
saudades -- a kind of longing of (and for) a heart.......2001-08-25
It's a bit of a cliche to say that there is no word for saudade in the English language -- but it's true. And it's also true that no other band compares to Legiao Urbana. This, their second release, is not an incredibly slick production; studio effects are kept to a minimum. What is on this CD is a raw energy and feeling that lives in every note played, in every lyric sung. This band took Brasilian pop beyond tradition, yet at the same time breathed new vibrancy into the spontaneous and organic creativity that is at the very heart of Brasilian musical traditions. Even it you don't speak Portuguese, singer/poet Renato Russo's mastery of his powerfully emotive voice will surely impress. And the songs on this CD sound as fresh and original today as they did in '86. Looking back on the bands of the past 15 years, with so many rip-off artists and pop-schlock regurgitators, this band's contribution to the world of music is obviously, totally and beautifully unique[....]
Best brazilian 80's album!!.......2001-04-05
(Sorry, my english is horrible.)- Worshipped by thousands of brazilians fans, Legião Urbana's DOIS is considered by the critics as the best rock album ever released in Brazil. From soft ballads as "Eduardo e Mônica" to blues stuff like "Música Urbana", pop poet Renato Russo has created a collection of little masterpieces, eventually going into fields like politics ("Fábrica"). There's no way to understand brazilian rock whitout listening to this album, believe me.
A beautiful and emotional album........2000-06-04
I bought this record when I was an exchange student in Brazil, in 1986. Fourteen years later, I'm still listening to it and marveling at the incredible lyricism of Renato Russo. His songs and storytelling give me a reason to keep my Portuguese skills up to par!

Superb.......2006-09-14
This was one of Legiao Urbana's first releases, recorded in the early 1980s. With gritty, yet poetic lyrics that delve into subjects of spirituality, sexuality and the difficulty of living in Brazil, Legiao Urbana really set the thematic mood for nearly all of their subsequent works.
If Brazilian music is generally known for being vivacious and carefree, "Que Pais E Este?" (What Country Is This?) is something of a musical journey into Brazilian rage. The title track was for a generation of college students in the early 1980s (and persists to this day), a rallying cry of indignation against Brazilian society's decadence as well as politicians' corruption. Track #7, 'Faroeste Caboclo' is an allegorical narrative that tells the fictional story of a poor man from the Northeast who goes to find a better life outside his village. The antihero is soon faced with a stifling life as a carpenter or the lure of crime.
Musically, the listener detects a distinct crudeness in the sound of this CD that one doesn't find in subsequent works by Legiao Urbana. That said, any lover of Brazilian rock who enjoys depth in lyrics and passion on the part of a singer should get this.
