The Lostprophets CD booklet proclaims: "6 bored kids = melody-aggression-emotion-energy-intelligence." What it doesn't say, but should: "If you like Incubus, you'll like Lostprophets." The British outfit mines much of the same territory as their more thoughtful nu metal, new millennium brethren, mixing an earnest Incubus hippie vibe with Creed-like sincerity and dash a of Faith No More oddity and syncopation for a commercial, if not groundbreaking, sound. Vocalist Ian Watkins has personality and passion and the band's playing is crisp and dynamic. Turntables, loops, and keyboards lend depth and hip-hop flavor to the melodic, tightly wound rock. The 11 songs here are all uniformly strong and intense, if not always deep and unique. --Katherine Turman

Obviously not touching on the greatness of Start Something but still a Great debut from the welsh rockers. You can really hear the evolution from this into Start Something.

   About the Author
   Martha Hilley joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin School of Music in 1982 as Coordinator of Group Piano and Pedagogy. Throughout her career she has been active in piano pedagogy, teaching on the national, state, and local levels, as well as internationally in Italy, Belgium, Australia, Norway, Austria, and Taiwan.
   
   Hilley has been the recipient of numerous awards for excellence in undergraduate teaching throughout her career, including the Texas Excellence Teaching Award, 1983, a Dad's Association Centennial Fellowship,1988, and the Texas Music Teachers Association?s Outstanding Collegiate Teacher,1997. In 1992, Hilley received the prestigious Orpheus Award presented by Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia in recognition of her contributions to the field of music. The first College of Fine Arts faculty member to be awarded the William Blunk Endowed Professorship (1998), in 2002, Professor Hilley was named as the first MTNA Foundation Fellow for the state of Texas.
   
   Hilley is co-author of two college piano texts: PIANO FOR THE DEVELOPING MUSICIAN and PIANO FOR PLEASURE?the first texts to embrace digital sequencer technology through disks and the first to provide web-based computer tutorials.

   The orginal more metal lostprophets.......2004-04-26

   Its seems like forever since lostprophets last made a record, and finally they made 'start something' which has been a fairly large hit in America. The Fake Sound of Progress was done only 3 years ago (2001), and i like it much more then ss. I own both cds, and start something is much more of a 'rock' cd, compaired to fsp which is more metal. Some of my favorites on the cd are Shinobi Vs. Dragon Ninja, The Fake Sound Of Progress, Kobrakai, and Ode To Summer. I highly recommend this cd. If you like start something be sure to grab this one too.
