Th anthology is a great selection of the music of Capercaillie - it may be the great voice of Karen Matheson - I just cant stop listening to it!!!

A bit disappointing.......2005-12-31

I've adored Capercaillie ever since I grabbed a handful of their early works in Edingurgh more than 10 years ago. I was hoping this one compilation would be the one I took wherever I went. But it's not. I'll still be hauling around 10 CDs. (Yeah, I need an MP3 player!) A few songs are better than the originals, more are less good. One--the lovely "Oh Mo Dhutaich"--is more than a minute shorter. "Stinging Rain" is torture, with its simple beat replacing the original beautiful orchestration. About a half of the tracks are jigs and reels--great at a ceilidh to dance to, but otherwise, well...The band's virtuosity is far better displayed on their tour de force "Grandfather Mountain." Many of my favorites didn't make the cut, and I sure can't tell why some others did. Now I'm waiting anxiously for the next CD, hoping this trend won't continue.

The seminal Celtic folk supergroup finally get the full retrospective treatment. Album Details

This Double CD Anthology Celebrates the 21st Anniversary of the Formation of Capercaillie, Britain's Leading Celtic Band, in Oban High School in 1983. Grace and Pride features Tracks from Each of Capercaillie's 15 Albums, it Contains Previously Unreleased, Ultra Rare and Long Deleted Tracks. "Grace and Pride" features Tracks from Every Single Album the Band have Released, Including Some Available on CD for the First Time. It Has an Extensive Booklet with Band History, Unseen Photos, Interview Extracts and Commentaries by the Band on the Making of Each Album.

Only if you have no other Capercaille albums.......2005-01-30

This album would only be appropriate for those who would like to have 1 Capercaille album and no more. Those who already have most or all of the albums will only find 2 tracks they probably don't already have, and the CD is not worth the price of those 2 tracks. There is only 1 cut from their almost unobtainable first album (non-CD I believe) as well as 1 or 2 from Glenfinnan, only available through mail-order. But again, those cuts are not worth buying this collection for.

I can't believe this CD has been out of stock for more than a year! It is a superb compilation of pieces by some of the finest artists, all of which are Scottish. There is definitely more to Scotland than highland games and bagpipes. Hopefully volumes 1 and 2 will be available again soon!!

I can't believe I am the first to review this album.......1999-09-03

Honestly, I can't believe it. Well, maybe I can. I discover most of my music through a good friend in Scotland. We exchange music, and I end up loving what I receive and finding it completely unavailable in the States! Sometimes I've lucked out -- I did manage to find Del Amitri and The Lightning Seeds, but this has not been the case for Deacon Blue, Runrig, The Beautiful South, and many others. Sigh...

But, PRIDE, wow -- what a wonderful mixed bag of terrific, quirky songs. Listeners are treated to songs from favorite artists like "Dignity", from Deacon Blue and "Why?" from Annie Lennox, as well as songs from little-known artists (well, little-known in America anyway), like "Perfect", from Fairground Attraction. Each song is fantastic in its own way, and PRIDE is an album you will want to play over and over again for many years. And this album shown here is only ONE volume -- there are TWO.

HEY AMAZON! Get on the ball and get the other volume!
