5 out of 5 stars A magical-musical experience!!!.......2004-11-23

The deep vocals of Alex Veljanov accompanied by Ernst Horn's smooth and cool keyboards create a truly magical-musical experience. Having heard of Deine Lakaien in 2002, I've been transformed in terms of appreciating musical excellence, thus leading me to conclude that in fact Deine Lakaien is a gem among today's 'limited' talent in the musical sphere. This particular album 'KASMODIAH' blends a 'light' electronic-style music along with rarely heard instruments, mostly those from the Middle Ages. Describing in exact words the style of Deine Lakaien presents in itself a challenge since they've managed to virtually distance themselves from any style considered to be 'mainstream'. It is also a challenge for me to pick out particular songs from this album that stand out the most. Clearly, this album will grow on you and will make you come back to it again and again...(just like sex, Kasmodiah is always a pleasure.. haha). Yet in all honesty, 'Into My Arms' was a piece that made a great impression on me with its 'nostalgic-romantic' theme. There you have it. With my biased opinion I have thrown out my fav' out of this album. Always a step ahead, Deine Lakaien has managed to create an album like 'Kasmodiah' that surpasses any other band or musician in terms of creativity 'till this day. The result, remarkably beautiful music. Its genius is only the first layer behind the many intricate components of Deine Lakaien. Get it, and enjoy!!!

3 out of 5 stars intriguing dark wave band.......2001-01-29

One of the most interesting aspects of Deine Lakaien is the singer's deep voice wich makes a perfect dark atmosphere. 'Return' and 'Into My arms' are some of those kind of songs you have to listen one houndred times... A feel of loneliness, desperation, hope or just a dark nightmare.. This is not a 'danceable' album, although some people thinks it's a 'modern' album, wich probably is a valid opinion considering Deine Lakaien past albums. Nice style, but stills too dark....

2 out of 5 stars The end of the road..........2000-01-09

There was quite a number of questions to be answered after three years without a new release of Deine Lakaien. Would they manage to create a chilling darkwave masterpiece like 'Forest Enter Exit' again? Or would the new record sound like the melancholic, irritating and comfortably poppy 'Winter Fish Testosterone'? Or would they create an entire new sound like they used to with every new release? The answer, sadly, is: nothing of all this. Their 'new' sound is pretty much 80's, reminds me even a bit of their first album from 1986 ('Kiss the Future'). There are some songs which I would never have expected because they are absolutely of no use, e.g. 'Venus Man'. Is there something new at all on this record? Yes, surprise, surprise, there is. Deine Lakaien try to be funny with the Pop/EBM song 'Lass mich'. Well, it isn't funny, it nearly brought tears to my eyes because it's so absolutely useless. I'm afraid 'Kasmodiah' is the biggest disappointment of 1999. 2 stars for the good songs 'Return', 'Into my Arms' and 'The Game'.

5 out of 5 stars Easily Deine Lakaien's best album to date..........1999-12-15

Though I do prefer a few tracks from Dark Star to any one track on this album, Kasmodiah maintains a high standard through the whole album, there isn't a single song on here that I don't dig.

Darkwave, Goth it may be these things, but it is down right poppy in places. Somehow they manage to do this without loosing any of the impact or beauty that I've come to expect.

Kasmodiah is for the masses as well as the fans.

5 out of 5 stars Without a doubt their best CD.......1999-11-25

Now that the band has added 2 extra members to play violin and medieval instrumentation, I wasn't sure how much if at all it would change their sound. This however has given them a much fuller sound, and altogether more melodic and appealing. Even though they are considered darkwave or gothic, they frequently do faster paced songs, and all of the ones on this CD are among their best ever. Particularly "My Shadows", "Kiss the Future", and "Lass Mich". Some of the dark, slower tracks which are favorites include "The Game", "Return", and "Try". All press reviews have stated that this is their best work, and I totally agree 100%.
