I love this bos set, especially the second one Edelweiss is simply great, it's filled with passion and truly shows the beauty of music.But if you had already bought Ave Maria and Edelweiss please don't buy this one, they are the same, this CD is just perfect!

Wow...That was my first word when I listend to this CD.

I like classical numbers more than like traditional songs of
other countries, so the 1st one was wonderful
(Of course as well as the second one.)

When you want to relax, you may choose the 1st one, but
if you want to be excited, choose 2nd one!!

You will feel as if you were out of this world.

When I received this album, I found that it was much, much more than I had expected. The angelic, pure, innocent yet DEFINED voices of these boys add the spark to your day. (at least to mine!)

The first CD is absolutely beautiful choral music which is really relaxing. I DO prefer boys' singing to adults, because it just sounds so much better.
When I bought the CD, I wasn't expecting much out of the second CD because I bought it for the first CD's sake, but the second CD turned out to be my real favorite.
Not that I don't adore the first one, but the second one is SO IRRESISTABLY CUTE!! whenever I listen to it, I keep on smiling and going "awww. isn't this cute!"
It is REALLY sweet and fun to listen to. I just LOVE this CDs and want to give 10 stars out of 5, but obviously there are limitations, so..

Well, if you like choral music, you won't regret getting this one.

Vienna Boys do it again.......2001-08-18

Their performance is just superb. If you like classical music. I find this elevating my spirits.

What can really be said about this two CD set except "Wow." The tone quality and emotion contained in the music is incredible, and I don't think there's another boys' choir out there who can match it. The rendition of Schubert's "Ave Maria" alone is worth buying the CD. Amazing. Between the two CD's there is a great variety of music as well, ranging from the soft, sad "Locus Iste," to Johann Strauss' polkas. There is a piece for every mood. These CDs are more than worth the money and rank among the favorites in my collection.

Mantovani's Eighth Million Seller Arrives on CD!.......2003-08-20

Italia Mia was the great maestro Mantovani's eighth, million selling recording in 1961. It stayed in the US charts for 50 weeks! This is not surprising because the Italian melodies enhanced by Mantovani's gifted arrangements are still attracting listeners today who may hear some of the renditions by the current day orchestra bearing the Mantovani name. These original recordings are even more spectacular to hear, and we are indebted to the producers at Vocalion for starting the process of re-releasing Mantovani's music on CD. Some of the CD's selections have not heard for decades, such as the hauntingly beautiful "Come Back to Sorrento," the stunning "Mattinata," the ever popular Dean Martin classic, "Return to Me": a heart tugging "Vissi D'Arte," and a very lively and clever arrangement of the "Bersagieri March," among many other Italian classics. As a special bonus, Vocalion added a scarce recording from 1969 Germany, never before issued in any format in the US, Japan or UK. Perhaps for the very first time, avid fans will hear Mantovani's distinctive strings playing many beautiful German melodies. To sum up, this two CD set is a glorious treat for those who can never get enough of the Mantovani sound, or who have difficulty finding the original master recordings on CD.
The meliorating music of Mantovani makes its marvelous return.

How could someone like the late opera diva Lucia Popp take kiddy folk tunes from Germany and make them sound so divinely simple, yet utterly charming? Well, that happened to be one of Popp's unique abilities. She sang the Fourth Movement of Mahler's Fourth Symphony with the same child-like tone that the song, a child's view of heavenly delights, requires. Popp takes that same deceptively simple ability to sing in a childlike way with great clarity and puts it to use here in these ever-popular German folk tunes.

"Alle Voegel Sind Schon Da" is a classic that many kids who study German as a second language learn to sing. If your kids are taking German in school, this is a great tool to assist in studying the language. And by the way, may I point out that Spanish, though a beautiful language, is not necessarily the easiest one. A local German teacher in our town here in Delaware laments the fact that most students won't consider anything but Spanish. She thinks German has a lot to offer students of a second language and they are missing a lot if they don't give it a try.

Really Great Moments.......2000-12-30

How refreshing it is to hear an operatic diva sing these songs with such simple sincerity! The children's songs she enjoys with such gusto and glee; the lullabies are so tender and moving (I particularly liked the echo of 'schlafe' in 'Sandmunchen'). Her diction should make many an opera 'star' take note. Wouldn't it be lovely if all children's songs were presented to them by such an artist, and not trotted out in pianola style?

It takes a singer of Lucia Popp's caliber to turn these slight but charming children's songs into little Lieder jewels. Her singing is heavenly in its simplicity and warmth, no prima donna postures here. Do try this very well produced recital, 100% chances you will love it.

This was actually a gift to my sister in Michigan; I live in Arizona. She received the CD asap, which was great. It was close to Christmas, so I was concerend that it would be late. In short, I am very pleased with the speed in which the product was delivered.

I have been listening to Heintje since I was a child and I have yet to hear anyone with as crystal clear and pure a voice as he. His voice and emotional translation of his songs are amazing. Heintje's collection is a must have for anyone who appreciates a great voice.

Disappointing.......2006-11-03

I wanted a tape of songs that would help me teach a variety of foreign languages in song to my children. While this is a pleasant listening tape, it is not a tape of songs sung by native speakers; rather, it is sung by one singer who sings like an opera singer, not like a singer with whom you can sing along. I know some of these songs well, and the words are not sung clearly enough by the singer that I could make out the words I did know.
If you want to become familiar with the melodies of some foreign songs, this is a nice tape, but you won't learn much from it otherwise. I gave it three stars.
