The Sabri Brothers are huge stars in Pakistan, having been part of the Sufi music scene there longer than any other popular artists. They have made forays into the international limelight a few times in the past few decades, bringing both the deep devotion and energy of the music and often a few surprises (like the guitars, something that shocked purists audiences in the '70s!). They are never wildly experimental like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan often was, but they nevertheless do push the boundaries of tradition, presenting four long tracks that incorporate bass and saxophone into the basic qawwal formula of ecstatic voices, percussion, and harmonium (a small pump organ that sits on the floor in front of the seated player). The Sabris are masters of the art, and this record continues their saga with respect and enthusiasm. --Louis Gibson

5 out of 5 stars Delectable blend of Melody and Rythm.......2006-12-25

To profess love for the music of Sabri brothers seems to offend a few of the Nusrat fan club. Beatles Vs Stones sort of ... The Sabri brothers are class acts of their own. To those that do not understand urdu or hindi this album will transport you the state of rapture. However it sure beats listening to Aziz Mian (Ok guys I admit I love Aziz Mian too...and sure would like him to represent me in the court of God)... Anyhoo back to Sabrii Brothers they are incredible and this album is certainly a classic forever as they sing in Balaghal... " yeh jahan sara chamak utta ...". This album will take you the state " ... har ek cheeze chamak utti"

5 out of 5 stars True qawwali.......2004-01-17

The "music fan" who wrote above that the Sabris are copycats of Nusrat is, to put it mildly, an idiot. The Sabris have been singing and moving the masses since the late 60s, when Nusrat (all due respect to him) was a kid. Nusrat himself gave them much respect and recorded their 'Manquta Mawla Ali' as a sign of his love for them. The Sabris' are truly Sufi. I have heard they actually were affiliated with the Chishti order. Everything about their music is sublime, and unlike Nusrat, they didn't stray and start singing secular, Bollywood-aping crap. (None of that was Nusrat's fault - he was surrounded by greedy people trying to make money off him-may God reward him for his sincerity). Anyway, I have this album. I recommend it, like I recommend all Sabri Brother albums, if you are a true lover of qawwali. PEACE.

5 out of 5 stars a great album from the true 'Kings of Qawalli'.......2001-11-28

To mr sindhi man!
This is a truly spiritually uplifting album. The Sabris can be truly considered the 'KIngs of Qawwalli'. While one must at all times respect the contribution made by Ustad Nusrat to qawwalli, we must also recognise that unlike him the Sabri Braadraan have stayed true to their qawwalli roots. they have not decided to venture into pop, or Bollywood/ Lollywood, in a pitiful attempt to makr money. Instead they have produced and performed in the manner of th true qawwals that they are. the love of Allah and their pride in themselves motivates them, not money. A fantastic example of qawwalli in its undiluted form in this album.

1 out of 5 stars Nusret Fateh Ali Khan copycats for money........2001-03-20

Sabri Brothers lack piety, sweetness, and peace in their music. It sounds rather evil and profit-hungry: trying to ape Nusret Fateh Ali Khan.

Real Sufi music does not sound evil. It sounds sweet, mellow, and peaceful. Try Abida Parveen or any other Sufi music from Sindh.

5 out of 5 stars One of their best albums.......2000-11-25

This album is perfect for introducing someone to qawallis and/or Sabri Brothers. The lyrics provided in the jacket are a tremendous help, too, even though the lyrics are in Urdu with English translations. Though the CD has only four tracks, each is well executed and extremely enjoyable. A must-have for all fans of Sabri Brothers and lovers of qawallis.

Personally speaking, most Sabri Brother albums have left me feeling that they have not been able to capture the magic of their live concerts. Blame it on poor recording quality or anything else. But I have no complaints about this one.
