Excellent selection, if somewhat sterile execution.......2007-01-30

Song selection is excellent and contains most of my favorites. The only possible minus to this CD is that while the recordings are very clear and consistent, they do seem just a bit sterile and lack the unbridled dynamism and punch of her live performances. I am still happy I bought this CD, however.

Don't get spelled by the deceiving amateurish cover art of the CD: there's a fantastic collection of songs hidden behind.

Mireille Mathieu is a truly great international star of the last 40 years: she's sung almost in every imaginable language, her records have been released in countries from South Africa to the Soviet Union. In the late 60's she and her manager decided to conquer the prospective German market, which would require singing in German (hey, even the Beatles and the Beach Boys tried to release German versions of their songs). By the mid-70's Mireille Mathieu had been an established star and a very welcomed guest in Germany: countless TV shows, concerts, records made her a German star in her own.

And here we get a collection of Mathieu's German hit-singles released between 1969 and 1977 in collaboration with her German producer, Christian Bruhn.

Highly recommended. To date I still consider this CD her best collection.
