Great Music, Super Ukelele.......2002-06-04

We picked up this disc on a visit to Hawaii, and wish we had bought more of there titles. We had heard Honolulu Baby on the radio and had to find the album. Luckily, we found a small record and gift store on Kauai. The clerk didn't know the song, but called friends until she found one that did. And they had the disc! Since then, we have fallen in love with the rest of the album, particulalry Hey Ono. Buy it if you can!

Excellent introduction to Hawaiian music.......1998-06-16

A variety of songs and tempos that are melodic, uplifting, finger snappin', and moving. Fun music, yet deeply stirring if you like soaring harmonies and clean music. It has a 50's sound with a country blend, but is wrapped in Hawaiian style all the way. The two principals are a couple of the most noted and respected musicians on the islands. Buy it. I am now buying my second CD by them.

Album Description

Dave Tucker has produced a fine recording of classic ragtime piano solos authored by Scott Joplin and Joe Lamb. In addition, the early days of American Novelty Piano Music are presented here with piano solos by Zez Confrey, including the smashing "Coaxing the Piano" and the everlasting "Kitten on the Keys". You'll find a fine mix of classic joplin rags and piano novelty solos, with a few standards thrown in as well. This recording was Dave's first CD and predates his newest recording "Meadow Lark" issued in 2005. Both CD's have received high praise at ragtime festivals around the United States. Dave's piano playing is often described using the terms "passion", "expressive", "emotional", "amazing touch" and "exciting".

Excellent ragtime.......2005-08-24

This is the first album put out by this performer. I find his technique excellent. He is one of the few performers of ragtime, stride, jazz who demonstrates an amazing emotional connection to his music through his dynamics.

Great ragtime and novelty tunes........2003-01-20

I was very impressed with Dave Tucker and his first cd. The selections were interesting, and the playing was "top notch." I did lose interest towards the end with the traditional jazz pieces, but overall the recording was strong.Ragtime is alive and well. I am looking forward to the "new release in 03."
