I Grandi Successi Originali as sung by Claudio Villa are great . This singer has a natural ability of interpreting these songs in a unique manner , so pleasing to the ear , also so sentimental . His diction and his style are perfection . I own CDs and records sung by this artist , and they never lose their ability to enchant me . His rendering of Neapolitan songs is musical perfection . I own over 300 songs sung by this artist ,for me they never lose their magic.

I CAN'T SAY THAT I PERSONALLY LISTENED TO AND LOVED THIS ALBUM, BUT IT DID COMPLETE MY FATHER'S CHRISTMAS VERY DELIGHTFULLY. HE IS IN HIS MID-SIXTIES AND MOVED TO AMERICA FROM SICILY IN THE 1950'S. I COULD SWEAR I ALMOST SAW A TEAR IN HIS EYE WHEN HE SAW WHAT SONGS WERE ON THIS CD! FOR THE LAST 2 DAYS IT HAS BEEN NON-STOP CLAUDIO VILLA, HE'S SUNG ALONG TO EVERY SONG ON THIS ALBUM! I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT ITALIAN MUSIC, ESPECIALLY FROM THE ERA THESE RECORDINGS WERE MADE, BUT IF YOU ARE A BIG FAN OF CLAUDIO VILLA'S MUSIC, I THINK THIS MAY BE THE ONE YOU WANT TO PICK UP!

A beautiful voice from Italy with a beautiful repertoire which includes some classics, featuring at least three ones I recomnmend enthusiastically as if I were an Italian:
- her extraordinary rendition of 'Senza Fine', the original one with that delicious accordion;
- the theme from film 'Anonimo Veneziano' ("Anonimous Venetian"), titled 'Cuore Cosa Fa'; and
- the beautiful song 'Che Cosa Ce'.

Though I am not a fan of compilations, I recommend this one because it is very hard to find Ms. Vanoni's original albums from Italy.

Sensual al Italiano.......2005-04-09

If you are looking for the sensual voice that kicked off Ocean's 12...you have found her. L'appuntamento is actually a Brazilian song that was immortalized in Latin America by Roberto Carlos. Italian is a beautiful language and this is a groovy, sensual way to immerse in it....don't get me wrong I am sure Pavarotti appeals to some people? If you like it, I also recommend Roberto Carlos who has a few bang up hits like Detalhes & Un Gato en la Oscuridad.

Si esta buscando la voz sensual que abrio la cinta "Ocean's Twelve"....ya la encontro. Si se fijan bien se daran cuenta que L'appuntamento es la version italiana de la cancion "A la Vera del Camino" imortalizada por el brasileiro Roberto Carlos, y cantada por todo mundo y su abuela.

El idioma italiano es muy bello y este album is una forma muy divertida pare compartirlo y admirarlo.

The universe Italian of female singers in the sixties was impressive . There were literally a real supermarket choice of pleasant voices. From the far incursion of american female singers captivated by the Mediterranean Muses such as the greatest Connie Francis the best American singer who made unforgettable and overwhelming works with that special and beauty cantabile voice to Petula Clark (Ciao, ciao) you also should remember those names : Rita Pavone , Orieta Berti , Patty Bravo , Mina , Milva , Nada , Iva Zanicchi , Catherine Caselli, Vilma Goichi , and obviously Ornella Vanoni .
She had a special charm , personality, charisma , presence and a clinical eye and a special taste to choose the right and heartfelt song and best inspired from the bottom of her heart ; more than singing she seemed to live every song .
Io ti daro'di piu ,Casa Bianca , Mi piaci , mi piaci , Cercami , Abbracciami forte , Tuuta la gente del mondo , but the her most immortal themes in ascendent order were to my mind : Una ragione di piu and curiously it doesn't appear in this album this giant theme : Un'ora sola ti vorrei .
Please my appreciated reader , acquire this CD and get close to one of the most prominent and expressive voices of the Italian canzone ever .

Italian great night club songs and american standards tunes.......2003-12-16

Bruno Martino has been one of the greatest songwriter in italian "pop" music history. His masterpiece Estate has become an international recognized Jazz standard played buy such greats as Michel Petrucciani and many more. His tunes are always extremely melodical and very well written from a musical standpoint. He sung very well too with a tender and warm attitude. The music contained here has been the soundtrack of the italian economic boom of the sixties, the theme of many summers. A really nice period for the country and you can breathe its atmosphere listening to this double album. This double cd contains almost all the best songs from this night club hero, tunes written together with few other italian legends, Umberto Bindi, Franco Califano (Il califfo) and so on. Arrivederci, Estate, E la chiamano estate, Baciami per domani, Cos'hai trovato in lui are all songs which deserve to be considered Jazz standards .. The album contains also nice renditions of popular "real" Jazz standards such as Smoke gets in your eyes, Girl from Ipanema, Love is a many splendor thing and few more. The overall quality of the compilation is fine, few tracks are taken from one of those legendary night shows, one of the million nights Bruno spent at the piano in a night club, others are studio takes. Bruno Martino is considered a legend today in Italy with few other artists (Luigi Tenco, Mina, Gino Paoli, Battisti ... Morricone): a legend of the italian music history and rightly so. Suddenly Bruno died a couple of years ago. Another legend, another man with a lot of stories to tell is gone. Ciao Bruno thanxs for the music and the wonderful songs.

they should tell me why they didn't include "Crapa pelada" (this is a 2 cd set, guys, you could!!), replacing it with more low-key songs. But these guys are just great, and the whole record is enjoyable as hell.

OUTSTANDING CD OF HITS WITH SAX AND ORCHESTRA.......2007-07-09

Living in Italy during the early 70's, I so enjoy this set of 2 CD's, which bring back many memories of hearing Fausto Papetti on SAX. This CD crosses over many years of hits, and 3 I remember the most while living near Rimini are "Harmony", "Rock Your Baby", and Forever and Ever".

Santo Farina's wonderful touch and tone on non pedal steel guitar is here, but these seventies era S+J records have no swinging small combo work like their earlier album versions of material like Caravan , Canadian Sunset, All Night Diner etc. Just like the cover photo where the artists are pictured a fair distance from the camera, the sound of the recordings seems a little pushed to the background and wider . Where's Johnny ? I can hardly hear his nicely comped block chord work on a lot of these songs. There's some nice ballad things here , especially the song Ruby , which Santo really shines on . A fan of the Farinas will want this ...but casual listeners will want to stick to the import CD best of's . Better yet are the original Canadian-American label vinyl albums from the fifties and early sixties as the original masters have been lost and the best of collections are mastered from the vinyl anyway

If you are interested in hearing some of Santo & Johnny's later work, this is a good place to hear some. This cd has some older cuts, but is mostly filled with nice later era pieces. "Ruby" is one of the greatest songs on this Italian imported collection, which cannot be found on any other cd. Actually, most lot of these songs can't be found on cd, which is a good reason to pick it up. The sound quality is real nice and clean too. A good cd for that long drive out to nowhere. Brooklyn's finest!
