Endless Greatest Hits.......2007-03-09

Another greatest hits CD by Puffy (6 thus far and counting)... largely all the same songs as every other one... for a completist it is a must, but I have the feelign Sony is gouging the market... particularly as this one has no extras.

Best place to start listening to Puffy..........2005-10-11

Puffy must be one of the most fun bands to ever spin in a CD player. They don't take themselves seriously, and neither should their fans. Some of their riffs get borrowed from classic rock songs, but they put them to their own use. Just listen for familiar themes from The Beatles or The Who. Some people in the west may accuse Puffy of plagarism. Don't bother. This music exists for pure pleasure. And this collection includes songs from Puffy's early albums before the year 2000 ("Amiyumi", "SoloSolo", "Jet CD", and "Fever Fever"). So it doesn't include anything from recent albums like "Spike" or "Nice". Regardless, it includes so much fun, catchy, and danceable J-Pop that no one will care. Puffy have since expanded into the US market with their theme song for "Teen Titans", a Cartoon Network show, and concert tours. And they consequently also have started singing more in English. This CD only contains songs sungs in Japanese. Not only that, nearly none of the liner notes or lyrics in the CD book appear in English translation. This is the real thing (which also comes with a "real" import price).

Though this CD contains the "very best" of Puffy, it still misses a lot of great tracks. Songs like "Cake Is Love" and quite a few from "Solo Solo" don't appear. Still, this CD probably represents the best place to start an exploration of one of Japan's most popular bands. It must be fun being them.

Puffy did good but when I saw their own solo their were good!
But I like when they sing together.I like both solo's but I like Ami's more.They did good on that album.The girl's did fine on that album.SoloSolo was made in 1997;I thought they do solo's when they are over.But I hope their never over.I wish they can go on forever.But they might go on forever!

Incredibly catchy.......2001-04-27

If I thought "Fever Fever" was awesome, Puffy's "The Very Best of Puffy" cd is simply incredible. The melodies are even catchier, there is a lot more variety of sounds on the cd, and overall spews out nothing more than fun. What fascinates me about this talented duo is their mixture of various music genres and successfully blending them with pop music. Language barrier aside, I find myself becoming a diehard fan of the Japanese duo. I think the fact that I don't understand a lick of Japanese makes listening to Puffy's music much more fun. I almost wish there was an American version of Puffy but considering this country's current pop market it is probably better that there isn't. Puffy is truly one of a kind. Who else would think of experimenting with tropical music? I can understand why Puffy is a cult favorite for fans of Japanese pop music. They are fabulous.
