Fun French Music.......2005-10-24

Heard this in an Olive shop on Rue Cler (in Paris) and loved it. Found it on Amazon and like it even better at home. Sounds classically 1940s or 50s to me. Great background music for dinner or cocktail hour.

HERE COMES BIG GEORGES BRASSENS.......2002-06-06

This is where it all started for BRASSENS.His whole universe is allready there.Originally,most of these songs were first released in 78(the lp era had not started yet in FRANCE).It is hard today to imagine the commotion caused by LE GORILLE which was of course intented as a joke.The radios used to say:who is this guy and where does he come from?he doesn't sing,he mumbles.Well know fifty years have gone buy,and this guy from the south of FRANCE has become a legend;dozen of books have been written about him.For the record here,four songs were poetry put to music;3 were by PAUL FORT(BRASSENS'S favorite poet;he actually knew him well).CORNE D'AUROCHS was a friend of the singer.PATACHOU who sings MAMAN,PAPA with him is the woman who gave him his first chance to sing in her cabaret;she actually pushed him on the stage,because she could not sing some of his songs.This is a true story.SETE,the birthplace of BRASSENS is also PAUL VALERY's birthplace.

hi, I am a Brassens fan from West Africa. first of all, I do not think that the reviews I read were about Brassens. In case they were, then something is wrong here. Brassens is or should I say was French, and his music has nothing to do with Brazil, left alone Samba or Rumba. in Addition, you don't dance to Brassens, you listen to him. furthermore, Brassens was a humourist, a great musician, composer, poet and writer.Please do your homework before you write things like this.

THIS IS NOT REAL BRAZILIAN MUSIC!.......2002-01-13

I hope that people don't think this is "brazilian music", it is not, it is JUNK music for young teenagers and adults. It is cute, but what makes this group popular are the dancers. This group mentions their name in every song, the lyrics are brainless and dumb. I don't recommend any records of this group to anyone and once again this is not real brazilian music :(

This is a great album...probably the most played music in Rio Right now! It's not tradional Samba, but 99.9% of Brazilians are listening to this stuff!

Isso nao e musica. Se voce gosta de seus ouvidos, nao compre esse CD. Mas se voce quiser ficar um retardado mental, pode comprar.... A unica coisa boa desse grupo sao as dancarinas. SÓ! Nao vou nem falar do gayzão que dança junto com elas tambem... Por hoje é só, porque nao vou perder meu tempo falando desse grupo terrivelmente horrivel.

THE WORST!!! THE WORST!!! THE WORST!!! I could spend the rest of my lifetime writing "The worst" and you wouldn't have a notion of how bad is this record. If you like brazilian music, look for the right artists: Mutantes, Lenine, Walter Franco, Chico Science. If you love samba, try Cartola, Martinho da Vila, Chico Buarque. But don't throw your money in the garbage can buying this record!!! This group is the real cancer of brazilian music.
