    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Brazilian CD's ever recorded!.......2005-04-26

I had only heard Anna julia of los hermanos, when a friend of mine(god bless him) let me borrow this CD from his collection. He wrapped it in bubble plastic... I thought that was strange at first, but when I heard the CD I understood. This CD is awesome! It's such an evolution from Anna Julia, a person listening to it cannot believe it was made by the same band.
Buy this along with Ventura, listen to them a lot, and you'll discover very original and very emotional music!
It's a pity many people won't be able to understand the lyrics, since they are amazingly beautiful... but the incredible sound should grab your attention.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely addictive! transcends the language barrier!.......2004-02-20

This is just really, really good music. Los Hermanos know what they're doing and they do it well. The music is catchy, distinct--full of personality. And granted, I don't understand Portugese, but the lyrics are so rhythmic I wish I could make sense of them and sing along. Bloco do eu sozinho is a mainstay in my CD player.

    1 out of 5 stars A Bad Bad Album.......2004-01-16

Sorry, 'cos I really love Brazil, but this is a bad album. Too pretensious, to planned. Sounds fake like a plastic heart. Sorry to say this, you all Los Hermanos' fans, but this band makes my lung hurts, and these "difficult" sounds are only for laughs. For good brazilian music, try Jorge Ben, Tim Maia and the sincere - 'cos this is important - rockers of Charlie Brown Jr.

5 out of 5 stars The best brazillian CD ever!.......2003-03-08

After selling 300.000 copies of their wonderful debut, mainly because of the huge success of "Anna Júlia" (re-recorded in English by Jim Capaldi, George Harrison, Paul Weller amonst others), the "Los Hermanos" made a complex, inovative and unexpected second album. Considered "difficult" by their label, the band had to struggle to release the CD the way they wanted. No easy hit-singles and almost no promotion (not to mention the decision not to make "playback" appearences at the TV) lead the album to a lower selling patamar compared to their anterior effort.
    These are my comments:

1 - Todo Carnaval tem seu fim - The first single. It has a kind of hynm feeling to it. The metal section at the end is unforgettable. (10/10)

2- A flor - A fan's favorite. Great live. Marcelo and Rodrigo share the vocals. The keyboard introduction and the heavy ending are amazing. (10/10)

3- Retrato para Iaiá - Brilliant vocals by Rodrigo, filled with passion. Great lyrics. (10/10)

4- Assim será - Camelo and his influences...If not for Barba's drumming, this would easily be a samba. And there's nothig wrong with it... At the end, the band call themselves "Trio Vai fundo" and play a great interlude. (9/10)

    5- Casa pré-fabricada - It's almost a brazillian britpop song. Very 90's and very good! (10/10)

6 - Cadê teu suin? - Clever lyrics and a great pop tune. Who could ask for more? (10/10)

7- Sentimental- Rodrigo at his best. A deep ballad with meaninful lyrics and an amazing videoclip. Second single. (10/10)

8- Cher Antoine - The result of Amarante's french lessons... A good song, especially the last part. (9/10)

9- Deixa estar - An introductory guitar riff leading to a more conventional pop/rock song. The lyrics are not as good as the rest of the album. Still, it rocks live. (9/10)

10 - Mais uma canção - A circence song, lead by an acousic guitar. The lyrics are not so good... (8/10)

11- Fingi na hora rir - Third single with a strange and somewhat bizarre videoclip. It's definetely my favorite song, along with "Adeus você". (10/10)

12- Veja bem meu bem - A ballad with a great metal section. The lyrics are one of their best. (9.5/10)

13- Tão sozinho - Reminiscent of the first album, it's meant to be a joke, but not a funny one. "Bom dia" should had taken its place. (2/10)

14- Adeus você- One of my favorites. It's a perfect final song, especially the strings section. "P'ra que minha vida siga adiante..." (10/10)

At the moment I'm writing this review the band is mixing their third album, due to be released in April, 2003. If they continue their musical journey, we can expect another masterpiece just like this one.
