Even though all the vocalist featured on this album are equally talented, I especially enjoyed the songs that featured Teresa Salgueiro (of Madredeus) and Nina Miranda (of Smoke City & Shrift). To be honest, the main reason I bought this cd was because of Nina Miranda, not to hold anything against any of the other vocalists, but I am more familiar with her previous works. All the songs featured on this cd are quite exquisite, Antonio Chainho's work featured on this cd is a true masterpiece, in all senses of the word. Never having been familiar with his work before, I came away loving this entire album. Of the 12 songs on this cd 5 of them are instrumentals, and they are just as beautifully executed as the songs with vocals. Of all the songs, my favorites are "A Sombra" (Fado Nocturno) which features Teresa Salgueiro and "Nossa Musica" ,especially, which features the talented Nina Miranda. Needless to say, Antonio Chainho's skill with the guitar is beyond description and as a musician he is a true master of the art, those are reasons alone to buy this cd.

The GREAT Portuguese Guitar.......2001-06-19

For many years, Antonio Chainho played for some of Portugal's best Fado singers. Now it was his turn to shine. Many beautiful interpretations of Fado's most beautiful songs and voices are heard here. Teresa Salgueiro, of Madredeus fame, is wonderful and the new voices of Filipa Pais and Sofia Varela are really beautiful. Some Brazilian voices are also well accompanied by Chainho's Portuguese guitar. I highly recommend this CD.
