If it's sheer musical power and blinding tempos you seek, then as far as zydeco goes, no one drives as hard or whips up a dance floor quicker than accordionist Beau Jocque and his band, the aptly named Zydeco Hi-Rollers. A relative newcomer to the south Louisiana music scene, Beau Jocque has developed a style that includes lots of heavy, funky bass, shown here in tunes like "'Gardez donc! (Look at That!)" and "Comin' In." Although it's the only cover on this disc, the selection of Clifton Chenier's "Do Right Sometime" was a sweet choice. --Robert Baird

Our daughter is a 4th year teacher who puts her whole heart into teaching, but dreads being observed. The song on this CD made her cry because it expressed just how she feels- observers tell her she is a remarkable teacher, but she is sure they will say she's no good!
We knew she would like this CD as she raved over the first one.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A TEACHER.......2006-02-19

You don't have to be a teacher to enjoy this album. We all have classroom memories that will be stirred by the selections. We have teachers than have inspired us; we perhaps have even known our own "Bill, the janitor." The vocal quality is superb; the sound quality is excellent. This is probably the best gift you could give to a teacher, or to anyone who loves kids. If you buy one as a gift for your favorite teacher, just make sure you have one to keep for yourself.

In the 80s, harsh market forces confronted Local Authorities and Independent record labels alike. Industrial Evolution juxtaposes Britain's leader Margaret Thatcher's stringent initiatives to privatise Local Government, with Cabaret Voltaire's rise to Indie stardom. On the one hand the Government went head-to-head with the Trades Unions, on the other Cabaret Voltaire's fiercely independent ethics met head on with major record labels, A&R men and the business of "shifting units". Industrial Evolution is a cautionary tale, of rampant Conservatism running roughshod over industrial England.

About the Author
Mick Fish was the author of Cabaret Voltaire - The Art Of The Sixth Sense, a book of interviews and history about the pioneering Sheffield band. First published in 1984 and updated in 1992, this is a sequel to his original book and contains the original interviews as an appendix.

Once again I have to say, if you want good zydeco dance music, this CD is a must have. You'll play it over and over again while enjoying every minute of it. This artist definately deserves recognition. Young or old I assure you, you will not regret this purchase. This is Zydeco Music at its finest.

A strange experience..........2003-11-03

They're both brilliant violinists but in very different genres, and Menuhin by his own admission never learned to improvise (unlike many of today's classical performers): he was trained in the post-Liszt, pre-jazz window when improvisation had died out in classical music and even cadenzas followed the score strictly (if Beethoven didn't write one, play Kreisler's). And it shows, rather painfully. He achieves a brilliant tone but that's about it: he plays these Broadway tunes completely "straight", and any student could do that equally well.

The CD is worthwhile for its curiosity value, but you'd get much better musical value buying Grappelli's jazz and Menuhin's classical recordings separately.

You simply can't go wrong with a combination of two of the most talented violinists of our time. This cd is a wonderful showcase for them both and the choice of music is the greatest classics. It's a fun, winner of a cd.
