Well. I have the CD's and is great, Specially I love the song El destino, and Me refugie en tu Juventud, I will give anything to see rocio sing that song. But I have a question How and where can I buy the VHS of this concert of Juntos otra vez. I will really be happy to get it. It will really make my day. I being looking for it but I couldn't find it. Excelent Cd.

An historical and magical night to remember!.......2001-11-03

This fabulous double CD captures a magical reunion of Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal, a performance from June 24, 1999 at Teatro Degalado de Guadalajara Jalisco. And the ONLY thing BETTER is to see the performance available on VHS. It, too, is just too wonderful!

It's no wonder these two have done so well, and to reunite combining their voices again, for an historic night to remember is magical! Superstar, songwriter Juan Gabriel performs with the beautiful velvety voice of Rocio Durcal. No one can ever sound like Juan Gabriel; it must be that nasal throaty sound that only he projects. His partner again, Rocio Durcal also has an enjoyed a career in movies and in 1977 she recorded 10 compositions written by Juan Gabriel, as he was her influence. So beautiful is their duet hit "El Destino" (The Destiny.) It is a soothing love ballad brilliantly composed by Gabriel.

Enjoy the musical exuberance of "Mariachi Vargas" and "Mariachi de Mi Tierra". I have a taste for a variety of musical styles, but nothing can beat the sounds of mariachi! Listen to mariachi magic in "El Principio" and "Verdadero Amor." Various slower songs are enhanced with that orchestral ambiance to bring dimension to the music. Hear the calming instrumental "El Final". The duets "Juntos" and "Que Bonito Es Santa Fe" are both lively and danceable favorites.

Gabriel and Durcal exude this emotional chemistry when they duet on a love song "Dos Favores". This double CD offers a variety of their solos and duets! But, what is better is the VHS performance, go one step beyond and see the magic. I can't ever get tired of either. .....MzRizz

A couple years ago I saw a phenomenal "Que Bonito es Santa Fe" music video with Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal (had never heard of her before seeing the video) and went in search of the song. I nearly didn't buy this CD set because it lists only Gabriel as the singer on "Que Bonito . . ." and I thought it wouldn't be the same as what I had seen. It surely sounds like the Gabriel/Durcal duet of the video, wild and wonderful. The whole double set is good, actually. The first disc has Gabriel and duets; the second Durcal and duets. The king and queen of Mexican music, together again. There's also a complete video out that includes most of the songs from the CD. It too is excellent.

Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal have done it again. I started listening to Juan Gabriel since 1986, and when my mother bought the previous 2 tapes (Frente A Frente Vol 1 & 2) I thought I had herd some of the most beautiful songs ever song by a duet. But with this CD, they have surpassed the old ones (don't get me wrong, the old ones are also great but this is is better). If you like Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal, don't think twice about getting this CD. Just do it!

A great introduction to one of Puerto Rico's most prolific combos.......2005-08-27

Cortijo, the combo leader of this Puerto Rican band, reunites with singer Ismael Rivera to sing some of their classics. This album sizzles with tremendous sounds, thundering horns and classic old school purely improvised Soneos by none other than Ismael Rivera, the best sonero in history.

Ismael Rivera is one of those singers who had more influence in Latin music than he is given credit for. Often overlooked, Maelo was called "El Sonero Mayor" by many people, including Celia Cruz.

The album features the best of the styles of music that would be merged in the late 1970's into Salsa. This is salsa's roots at it's best, played with passion and flavor. Music styles present here include Bomba, Plena, and Son.

This album features the original version of "el Negro bembon", a song that discusses the racism that has continued to plague what is an otherwise egalitarian island.

El Bombon de Elena is a tasty morsel of classic old style sexual innuendo, a plena filled with several rhyming soneos.


Those seeking a connection between Puerto Rican music and it's afrocentric roots will love the plays on call and response on this album. This is a true classic album performed by the best of the best.

worth buying old or new.......2004-06-12

I grew up listening to this album since my mom played it all the time and my siblings and I couldn't get enough of it. These were the real legends of salsa and well as all the singers from the Fania Allstar label. They are right up there with great legends such as Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Willie Colon and the list goes on and on. I say: "buy it, old or new". You will dance all night.
