Miles Of Skye

Editorial Reviews

From the Artist
and the band played on Miles of Skye features… Uileann pipes musician Eric Rigler, Celtic music’s most sought-after recording session artist, (well known for his contributions on Titanic and Braveheart); John Tesh’s former music director Charlie Bisharat on strings; Brian Kilgore, who has played on or with Aerosmith, Linda Ronstadt, John Tesh, and on Robbie Williams CD The Ego Has Landed, and whose work can be heard on various movies including The Perfect Storm, and A Bug’s Life. Miles of Skye also features Celtic vocalists Steve McDonald (whose Sons of Somerled has sold in excess of 175,000 units) and up-and-comer Darby DeVon. Lyrics on Miles of Skye were co-written with fellow Emmy nominee Ron Boustead who has also had songs recorded by Denise Williams, Greg Karukas (on almost every album) and Jonathan Butler.

Product Description
Emmy nominated composer/songwriter Matt Ender soared onto the Celtic music scene with rave reviews, critical acclaim, and two award nominations. His debut album, Ancient Isle, was a finalist for “Celtic Album of the Year“ in the New Age Voice Awards, and “World Album of the Year“ in the Visionary Awards. He appeared on the New Age Retailer, NewSound, and Music Design Top-Seller charts, in addition to earning a Top 20 appearance in the New Age Voice Radio charts. Now with his second album, Miles of Skye, Ender is positioned for much bigger things. The album is instrumentally divine, and two complementary vocal tracks add fire to an already hot flame. Brace yourself for a significant and riveting musical journey through Miles of Skye and beyond.

    5 out of 5 stars Matt Ender...Only gets better.......2002-03-08

"Ancient Isle" was great...."Miles of Skye" is even better. The true Irish hospitality and friendliness comes thru in each piece. Sitting by a warm fireplace, on a mid January eve, with the warm glow of the ambers, watching the snowflakes outside, gliding down to the earth...with scotch in hand, and loved one next to you, listening to "Miles of Skye"...it doesn't get better than this. Looking forward to Matt's next cd.

    5 out of 5 stars A fantastic album.......2002-02-26

I enjoyed Matt Ender's first album, "Ancient Isle", but "Miles of Skye" is just incredible. He assembled a team of veteran musicians and a great body of original and traditional music to really capture the spirit of Ireland. The title track, "Miles of Skye", "Miss Monaghans" and "False Fly" are my favorites. Anyone who enjoys good celtic music would love this album.

5 out of 5 stars "Miles of Skye" make me sigh..........2002-02-26

This CD makes me long for the Ireland of John Wayne's "The Quiet Man" or "Titanic". In fact, if the movie Titanic was twice as long (G-d help us) they'd have had to turn to Matt Ender for the extra music. His original songs and the arrangements of folk standards remind me of the soundtrack from everybody's favorite romantic epic. Only no Celine Dion. For me the music was a major ingredient in the magic of "Titanic". "Miles of Skye" has capatured the same feel but bests it in melody and sophisticated rythms. I especially like the title song sung by "Steve McDonald", and the ethereal vocal treatment of "My Wild Irish Rose". His "Hymn for My Father" is worthy of being a anthem for all mankind. Ender's album is strangely comforting and familiar, in spite of my semetic backgound. He touches a primal chord in me, and I cannot believe I am so different from everyone else. His music says "There, there Andy. Everything will be all right. "Miles of Skye" by Matt Ender is more than all right. It's terrific.

5 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the CD so much, I am ordering 3 more as gifts!.......2002-02-22

Matt Ender has really outdone himself with this follow-up to Ancient Isle. His talents come shining through on all tracks!
