Deva ("Deva" is a Hindu title for divine) Premal has attracted a following by framing ancient Hindu mantras within atmospheric, contemporary settings. The result on Embrace, her third release, is at times flavorful, at other times undistinguished, but it produces more intriguing moments than duds. On occasion, Premal aspires to Enya-like reverence (e.g., tracks 2 and 4), then elsewhere coos her ancient text atop gentle grooves and jazzy flutes (tracks 3 and 6) in a manner suggestive of Deep Forest. Some might describe it as "smooth chant." Highlights include "Shree Ram Jai Ram," a beautifully realized cross-pollination of East and West (highlighted by Kit Walker's free-floating piano and Premal's resonant choir of voices) that hints at what Joni Mitchell might create if she tried her hand at Eastern music. --Terry Wood
Album Description
EMBRACE, the long awaited new album from Deva Premal, finds this best-selling singer at the height of her art, expressing the ancient wisdom of mantra through a contemporary musical vision. Her radiant voice, richer and more assured than ever before, floats above a cool, sensual groove provided by some of today's finest world fusion artists and producers Miten and Kit Walker (Walela, Kitaro, Neal Schon).
Deva Premal enthralled audiences worldwide with THE ESSENCE and LOVE IS SPACE. That phenomenal success continues with EMBRACE. Its relaxed, uplifting feel and elegant sense of space can only heighten the spell already cast by this mantra enchantress.
"Majestic, deep and full of love," Deva Premal's EMBRACE is a lovely and moving next chapter from an artist whose incredible potential is only beginning to unfold.
Album Description
Deva Premal's Embrace expands on the Eastern Indian fusion and ethereal vocals of her previous work, combining timeless mantras with contemporary arrangements. Innocent, soothing and laid-back. Features 8 tracks of sensual music for yoga, packaged in a slipcase. White Swan. 2004.

Ony one world.......2007-07-17
If I have only one world for this CD, that world would be:
GREAT
I love this woman, her voice is so perfect, strong and clear...
sublime.......2006-11-12
Being Indian I started on this CD with trepidation, expecting a western pop version of indian chants. But Deva produces an authentic bhakti experience and dissolved my fear. Her music, though somewhat different from my past Indian experience, blissfully conveys the Spirit that are the words themselves. In India it is said that if one has bhakti in the heart then the singing of and about the Names will convey the inhernt bliss, irrespective of all else.
Listen to this CD and feel the bliss.
Uplifting, absolutely beautiful!!.......2006-09-02
I think this is one of Deva's best...her voice, the music are all deeply moving and wonderful...there are solemm pieces and also joyful ones that literally make me dance! Lots of drumming and even a little jazzy at times...I could listen to this CD over and over again and I never tire of it!!
Disappointing.......2006-06-08
I found this disc disappointing compared to Deva's brilliant first CD entitled The Essence - which is a must have. What seems strange to me is that she is on the inside cover touching Buddha's chest, while the first track sounds like make-out music. Hmmmm.... For what it's worth, an Indian Brahmin confirmed that some of the mantras are concoctions, too, which does not really set a good precedent. People copy Deva's chanting in their kirtans and in this respect her work is influential. Although being innovative can be commendable, spiritual traditional chants are, in my opinion, off limits for whimsical changes. I wish she would get her mantras from reliable sources in the future.
Hard core Deva fans won't notice, of course, and will love this.
Deva Premal Embrace.......2006-03-20
I really like this choice of music for practicing yoga at home. It makes the time fly by when during my yoga workout and the music is appropriate and calming.

1989's Sensual World remains Kate Bush's most mature, entrancing album. Expectations ran high for the long-awaited follow-up to her 1986 breakthrough The Hounds of Love, and she met them with this sometimes breathtaking, often introspective work. On songs like the erotic title track and the dramatic "Love and Anger," Bush charts the many rhythms of relationships with a keen eye for detail and less frilly bluster than usual. Elsewhere, with the tense "Between a Man and a Woman" and the lush "This Woman's Work" she virtually lays the foundation for Tori Amos's future success. Musically, Bush broadens her palette with the smart additions of Irish piper Davey Spillane, Balkan singers The Trio Bulgarka, and jazz bassist Eberhard Weber. --Michael Ruby

So-So..........2007-05-29
Only purchased this CD for one song...but it was worth it. No problems overall, fasssst delivery.
Gorgeous, erotic, evocative, if you only get one KB album, get this one.......2007-04-04
I have played this album then CD over 100 times, and it is better richer more gorgeous and perfect each time. Put on your earphones and let this magical mystical album take you places deep in your soul. I love it, if you can not tell. Kate is an underappreciated genius, lost in the shuffle of marketing ploys and teeny girl hyper sexuality... this is sexuality on a different level. A level beyond age time gender. Get it and be enriched, I mean it.
SENSUAL Woman.......2006-10-26
It's nice to see that Kate Bush devotees have found so much to admire in this release. For me, this was the one I could not quite connect with. I had bought it on vinyl when it first came out (one of the last of my vinyl purchases, actually) and had been looking forward to it. But it seemed less tuneful and less well developed than anything she had done up to that time, and I wound up shelving it for another day. That other day never came for my vinyl copy: I did, however, borrow a library copy of the CD recently to see if my initial impressions were well founded or not.
After all, "tunefulness" isn't everything, and I have long been a champion of any artist's right to grow and develop as s/he sees fit. But the other side of that coin is that individual fans may or may not decide ultimately to accompany that artist on the journey. This point was driven home to me all the more clearly recently when I played THE KICK INSIDE and SENSUAL WORLD back to back and found myself grinning like 60 the whole time to the former. I loved every track on that record. But to be frank, my reaction to the latter release was a bit, I dunno, on the tepid side. Does that me less of a true Kate Bush fan? I don't think so, although I imagine that other fans might want to dismiss me from the club for not embracing THE SENSUAL WORLD fully.
But there you are. Fandom is like friendship, in a way. There are people whose friendship you cherish forever. And then there are those with whom (if you'll forgive my sticking with the somewhat tired and tiresome "journey" metaphor) you only walk your path with for a short time. But I'm just enough of an old hippieh to think that it's all valid and that it's all OK. For the most part, anyway.
And I have to take the admirers of this record at their word. It really is true that giving it a second go 'round did yield some new insights into what Kate was up to back in '89. There are some gorgeous moments here, but I would have to say that they are more in terms of "soundscapes" rather than as actual songs. It almost seems that the mature Kate was distancing herself from what was actually the strong suit of her adolescent and early adult oeuvre. All those engaging early SONGS were now replaced by "interesting" compositions.
And the language became more and more prosaic. Listening to "Love And Anger" or "Between A Man And A Woman" you have to wonder if Kate hadn't been reading too many self-help books. Sure the the lyricism of the early Kate Bush had its schoolgirlish quality, but it was at least intriguing and fanciful. By the time of THE DREAMING, her lyrics started to lean more toward lyrical "prose" and was all the more difficult and abstract. But THE SENSUAL WORLD was the first release where I found myself putting away the lyric sheet. The prose, at least in places was becoming almost plodding, and I found I was better off just listening to the music as music. Reading the lyrics was actually disappointing.
If you listen to a track like "A Deeper Understanding" just as a piece of music, it's quite lovely. As a lyric about people seeking high tech alternatives to real intimacy, it's neither original nor profound. We know all that--and yes, we knew it back in '89 too. And "All the Love" from THE DREAMING actually covered much the same ground and did it better. (OK, so maybe it was gate buzzers and answering machines and not computer programs--but it was technology creeping in and altering one's personal and psychic life...)
The high points of THE SENSUAL WORLD are nonetheless pretty high. Kate is and remains the first "rock" star since Grace Slick to give props to James Joyce--and to do so (yes!)appropriately and engagingly. And as many reviewers have noted, "This Woman's Work" is quite lovely, if a little vague. What starts out seemingly as a song about pregnancy turns out to be more about problems and stresses in a relationship--but then complaining about Kate Bush being "vague" seems a little silly, I guess. We don't come to her music for straightforward narratives after all.
Still, it seemed as though some of the richness of THE DREAMING and HOUNDS OF LOVE was missing on this album and that, if anything, Kate was in something of a holding pattern. The same could be said of its follow-up THE RED SHOES, although I came to like that album quite a bit over time. With the recent release of AERIAL, it seems that the "mature, experimental Kate seems to be recovering some of her lyrical and melodic sense. There are gorgeous "soundscapes" galore, but they seem integrated with actual songs.
But I've really only begun grappling with that one. One thing is clear: Kate Bush is not an artist one can easily write off. That's one reason, I remain qualified in my reaction to SENSUAL WORLD--lukewarm for now, but who knows if I won't go back to it again at some future date and find that I've changed my mind yet again and that's really a masterpiece. I don't see that happening, but Kate Bush is full of surprises. Could happen.
The Magnificent Kate Bush.......2006-09-15
Kate is such an Original, and this C.D. is just superb from Beginning to end!!!!With Dave Gilmore helping out...and the Trio Bulgarka!!!I especially Love"Never be Mine","Rockets Tail","Love and Anger"and the title track...."Sensual World"Wonderful Music!!!
SO ECCENTRIC!.......2006-08-31
I do not know if people are crazy about Kate Bush b/c of her looks, her mystery, or unavailability or b/c they really think her music is so great.
I think that she is a fascinating artist but also very over rated. Some of her material seems very self indulgent. Also, there are way too many sounds and instruments being played. I would love to see an "unplugged" cd. What makes Kate Bush is her voice, not all the weird sounds that go along with it!
This cd is worth it simply b/c "this womans' work" is one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard.

Nice music.......2007-06-26
Great "mood" music, although there's quite a bit of variety in the tracks, so be prepared to "change tempo"
Really Good Stuff.......2006-10-04
I havent heard any of their other albums at all, so i cannot comment on a comparison between this album and their others.
Personally i dislike the Enigma type Native american (sounding) male vocals used in this genre and in this album. Thats the only reason this only gets 4 stars. Not to say its as badly composed as the vocals in Enigma! Sometimes it does have a good effect if not over used!
The musical composition in fantastic ... Really well done and as other reviewers say, its something emotionally moving.
So if you like the moans of a guy in some language that you might not understand this album is definately for you. But to me , the vocals do spoil otherwise almost perfect music.
Not disappointed.......2006-07-17
If you are a true fan of BTribe, this CD will not disappoint you. The usual bends of tribal music, the mystical tones, will make you eager to hear more. A nice way to spend an hour listening to this group.
One good track is not enough.......2006-03-18
B-Tribe's Sensual Sensual is a disappointment especially compared with their exceptionally excellent CD Spiritual Spiritual. Only track 1 really stands out as comparable and pleasing (tracks 3 and 10 are marginally ok). The rest is not just forgettable but at times grating, mostly due to the annoying vocals.
feel the music? hmmm!?.......2006-01-26
Ok.Granted, this is probably not one of the tribe's best cds and it probably has to "grow" on you, there seems to be a method to their madness. I've found that the titles of these cds ("Spritual, spirtual", et al.) were meant to make a point. Unlike some cds where you have to ask your self, "where in the H#*!! did they get this title?, The "B" titles are meant to reflect the mood you should be in to enjoy the ambiance of the instrumentation. Hence, "Sensual, Sensual" is best ingested during those more...uh..."intimate" times. Feel the music! Enjoy! (Caution: Please listen responsibly.)

Remixers, DJs, and Bands from all over the world lend their passion and inspiration to further expand on the already diverse soumd of Collide. From chunky guitar versions, to slithering lounge stylings to delirium-esq versions that are sure to hit the dance floor. This CD also contains three new covers, including the very poinant "The Lunantics are taking over the Asylum" by Funboy 3.
Some very special guests including Charlie Clouser formally of NIN, Rhys Fulber of Conjure One/Delerium and Mike Fisher of Machines and Loving Grace/Amish Rake Fight, lend their talents to "VORTEX". Customer Reviews:
Best remix collection I've heard.......2007-05-18
Simply put, this collection of remixes, and a few artfully selected covers, is the highest quality collection of its kind I've heard.
Most remix collections seem to have a few good tracks among a bunch of tracks that aren't worth listening to more than once. This two-disc set is the exception to that rule; nearly every song included is tasty aural bliss.
I would have expected Collide's layered organic and electronic sound to be hard to do justice while taking in new directions for remixing, but each of these artists have succeeded, often spectacularly so. Only one track is difficult for me to enjoy: Somewhere/Orchestral Mix; I find it an interesting attempt but it's not for me. The rest range from very enjoyable to music I might never want to take out of my CD player.
Get this album for The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum (see also the DVD Like the Hunted), and enjoy the rest of the sweet and sultry gems from Slither Thing/Amish Rake Fight Mix to the delightfully sad Crushed/Out of Control Mix, plus plenty more.
To Collide fans, even those skeptical of remixes, this is a must-own. To those not yet a fan of Collide, you might start with Some Kind of Strange or Chasing the Ghost and then pick this up - though I'm not sure it matters, and this would still make a great listen without any prior knowledge of Collide.
Amazingly Brilliant!!! .......2007-04-12
Collide must be one of the greatest bands ever to hit the gothic scene. The combination of Karin and Statik are explosive; indeed, Vortex is definitely their masterpiece of Remixes done right! As well as new songs that will demand your attention, highly note worthy!! Some of the best out there!
Listen to the samples on this site just so you can say "Yeah, I'm a smart consumer." If you like any combination of Collide, you're gonna end up buying Vortex, it is most certainly a treat for the ears and the imagination.
Get lost in the Vortex.......2006-10-10
I really liked this album, while some of the songs are remixed more than once they're still able to keep a semblance of uniqueness. Then there are the little gems added to the mix "The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum" and "Feed Me to the Lions" are really fun songs that quickly moved their way into my top 10 lists.
These two disks hold a variety of moods from the frantic to the meditative, there is a remix for almost all occasions and then some. If you're just starting out with your Collide obsession this is a great album to showcase their diversity and complexity; and if you're deep into your Collide wall to wall shrine then this album is hard to beat and will surely earn a coveted spot on your shrine to Collide.
What an awesome find!.......2006-08-20
You will all think I'm crazy, but I was looking for new music one day at work, came across Collide because it was "similar" to other music I like, and bought it without even hearing it! I wasn't somewhere that I could listen to the samples, so I trusted other user reviews, and couldn't be more pleased. This CD has become a staple in my collection, and frankly, hasn't left my CD changer yet! My boyfriend even added it to his iPod. My personal favorite is "The Lunatics...", don't ask me why. I always play it on my way to the gym...and sometimes before work...perhaps it's something Freudian. :)
I absolutely adore Collide, and plan to try out their other CDs. It's amazing the feeling the music gives you. It's very ethereal, and makes you feel like you're somewhere else. Definitely a great buy, even if you're not into this type of music.
Others I would recommend in this genre are Claire Voyant (Time and the Maiden), Delerium (Karma), Hungry Lucy (To Kill a King), and Lamb (any of them, especially Lamb and Fear of Fours).
remixed to perfection.......2006-07-06
before picking up this two-disc package, i was not familiar with the works of Collide. i bought this item on a whim, and am very glad i did. the variety of style approach is refreshing, you really don't hear the same song twice, though there are a few mixes of a few songs. these are good cds to put in on a trip or chill at the house, and i've had the album for a few weeks now and am not tired of it. enjoy the haunting effects of a great band rearranged by great artistic minds.

Underated artist.......2005-05-16
This is one of his best cd's. You really have to listen to the words on the cd, he takes you to whole another level. He is one of the best r&b singers ever, just close your eyes and listen to the song "maybe" and think of that special place for you and your lady.
An ultra-smooth CD from a great crooner........2004-11-24
By itself, Will's velvet-smooth and truly superior cover version of Michael Jackson's hit "I Can't Help It" more than justifies the entire CD's price--it's an ever-beautiful gem you'll return to time and again. This gorgeous CD proves that Will is a true crooner in every sense of the word.
The Master of the "re-make".......2004-04-07
Will, Will, Will!!!! I have been his #1 fan for the past 14 years, have met him twice.....got that coveted signed photo, but Will still never stops astounding me with his musical talent! Will is the master of the re-make....from Angela Bofill, Marvin Gaye, and Bonnie Raitt....and now, Michael Jackson, and Average White Band! He has taken these songs and bought a whole new meaning to each of them. I will forever love him for this ability!!!
My favorite on the cd is Bolero Nova....Thank you for bringing it "there", Will.....That voice and Brazilian rhythms at the same time! Ohhh, pure Heaven!!!
Sensual Journey Indeed.......2004-02-27
This CD is the kind of CD you put in the player, get in the tub and soak to. It's just wonderful!!! If you have not seen him live, you really need to do so. He sounds awesome on his recordings, but live he is 1,000 times better.

Amazing Compalation That Takes You Back.......2005-10-18
Smooth Grooves: A Sensual Collection, Vol. 7 is another amazing set of classic slow jams. Volume 7 mainly deals with songs all concering some form of heartbreak. Sukiyaki,Love On A Two Way Street, Tears, Toast To The Fool are all truthfully with heartbreaking harmonies and ever singer is in top form. The song that stands out the most to me to Try Again by Champagin. The song is dire need of a remake by a capable artist like Jon B. or Brian Mcknight. Other stand out tracks include the classic baby maker Love You Down By Ready For The World. So light some candles, burn some inscense and break out the starwberries and go back to a time when love was love.
Nice and Smooth!!!.......2003-10-22
This is a very nice compilation of slow jams and I really enjoy this cd a lot and I would recommend this cd to anyone who enjoys oold school and who likes Rhythm and Blues. Every song on here is solid and this album brings back a lot of memories and I really do enjoy this album and I would truly recommend this album to any old school and Rhythm and Blues lover this is a really great compilation cd. My favorites are: Dreamboy-Don't Go
Champagne'- Try Again and many great other songs so therefore if you like slow music, old school, and rhythm and blues then I would truly reccommend you to buy this album!!!!
Just the right CD for that special date.......2003-08-25
This one has the perfect collection of love songs. I remember Sukiyaki when it was first done in Japanese. They used to play it so frequently on the radio. I thought it was a beautiful song since I didn't know what they were really saying. When Taste Of Honey transalated it back in 1981, I saw it was about a love gone sour. The original singer did not ask for his rights to the translated version even though Taste Of Honey offered it to him. Try Again is also a great song that brings back memories. Yes, the group Champaign is from Champaign, IL.

sooooo soothing.......2007-01-22
When I first played the CD I wasn't sure that I liked all of it. As I continued to play it at work, in the car etc. it seemed to calm my inner
spirit. For a reason I couldn't explain I found myself playing it alot, this music speaks to me on a deep level. I find myself returning to the CD again and again when I am in need of serenity. I have alot of new age/jazz selections. I highly recommend this one, but give it a chance, don't judge it by the first listen. My coworkers request it often.
Diverse and Serene.......2004-11-21
Sequoia Records is shaping out to be one of the finer labels for music that's sure to entrance and relax you. They put together some of the best compilations and 'Cafe De Luna 1' (there's also a volume 2 now available) is an excellent collection of downtempo world-grooves that are just as good, if not better, than anything I've yet to hear from the Buddah-Bar Lounge or the Cafe Del Mar series, which is saying a lot. There's a wide range of musical styles here that are sure to please just about any ambient-chillout seeker but my one and only gripe is, as lovely as all the melodies are, they tend to sound repetitious at times and I enjoy music that is ever-changing and unpredictable so for that I drop a star. However, the album as a whole is very consistent and I don't find myself skipping tracks like a do with other, similar collections. When I listen to this specific genre I prefer to become immersed in a sea of tranquility, if you will, and I want that uninterrupted. 'Cafe De Luna' does that for me and the rhythms blend and interweave practically unnoticed so that is a definite plus.
Elegant and Sophisticated World/Chill-out mood.......2003-08-03
I have a huge collection of chill-out compilations, but this one which is put together by David & Steve Gordon, who also created the wonderful Buddha-Lounge series, is absolutely exceptional. The CD starts out right in the cool downtempo-world groove and stays there throughout, without any inferior tracks to interrupt the mood. You can play this entire CD and rest assured that the atmosphere will stay right where you want it. There are many great exotic world-trance tracks from European artists which stand out from the crowd of the chill-out compilations I have heard. This is world downtempo the way it is meant to be - good to the last track.
Cafe De Luna is a Delight.......2003-06-06
This is the third and latest release from Sequoia records chill-out focussed sub-label, Sequoia Groove, which recently released Buddha Lounge 2, the follow up to the 2002 precursor of the same name, compiled by World Beat music purveryor Steve Gordon. This new downtempo release is a departure from the Buddha-Lounge series offering a distinctively European flair from well known artists from Sequoia Gooves' other releases as well as several new artists I had never heard before. My favorite tracks are from Eroc & Urs Fuchs entitled Aqua Acclivis as well as David & Steve Gordon's inspiring Guardian Spirit (Club Mix) and Opera to Relax's Soul Spaces the last track on the disc. Steve Gordon has done an exceptional job in fusing the downtempo chillout electonica vibe with a distinctive spirtual flavor that blends the best of the Chillout and World Beat genres into a teriffic ecclectic mix. Your ears will savor the great relaxing international flavors. Really unique & exceptional !

Album Description
Vermont's Anais Mitchell write and sings - in English and sometimes Arabic - with redemptive energy, about the challenges of our times.
On "Hymns for the Exiled" Mitchell writes from the perspective of an Iraqi woman; an American child caught between terrifying reality and anti-terrorist rhetoric; of the cynical political use of the survivors of the Quecreek Flood; of the death of an Austin drummer, and her Grandmother's dress.
Raised by a novelist and a community organizer in rural New England, Anais Mitchell grew up listening to Dylan and the Dead, Cohen, Velvet Underground, Joni Mitchell, Ani, Dar Williams and Tori Amos. At 18, she moved to Boston, where she did time at open mikes and the Park St. T station. At twenty, she moved to Austin, where she released her debut album, "The Song They Sang When Rome Fell." The Kerrville Folk Festival honored her work with the prestigious New Folk award in 2003. She graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont in 2004 with a degree in political science. Anais has spent extensive time in Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East, studying languages (Spanish, German, and Arabic) and international politics, bringing a worldly depth to her writing - which she presents to her audience with a graceful presence of spirit.
Customer Reviews:
It may bring you to tears folks-- its that GOOD!.......2005-09-22
I saw Anais at a show in Cambridge, MA a week ago and more than one song literally moved me to tears (in the best possible way.) Tears came to my eyes because truth resonates in her lyrics.
This woman has a way of writing lyrics that are so personal, most of us are afraid to confess such feelings in our journals! Yet Anais also comments on current politics with a refreshing perspective.
The music is so delicate, meaningful and personal. The best tracks are 1, 3 & 9.
Track 1, "Before the Eyes of Storytelling Girls" is a song about an Egyptian woman, recalling her childhood and the changing times. It's clever, adapting a line from t.s. eliot's incredible poem, "The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock." She insightfully sings "The women come and go, talking on their mobile phones." Anyhow who has been to Egypt or the middle east will understand the depth of this song. She is right on the target in capturing the feeling of the modern middle east.
Track 9 is so beautiful, you will listen to it on repeat. It is the title track "Hymn for the Exiled." It seems to have something to do with God and Adam: "The word came down to him from heaven/ and naked as an animal, he knew / everything of flesh and bone/ he could call it all his own / if he could name it, he could lay claim to it, too."
Anais is an unbelievable live performer. Try to get out and see her show. She is humble and charming and talented all at the same time.
This is a CD to listen to on repeat! You will not regret purchasing it. But you will be amazed that someone with so much insight isn't even 25 year old!
The Greatest Live Act on Earth.......2005-09-07
I saw Anais Mitchell perform in her home state of Vermont this past summer, and the show moved me to tears. I was skeptical that her newest studio release would capture what she does on stage, but for the most part, the CD does just that. Every song is a small poem. Anais' use of mixed metaphor and shades of humor here and there is so beautiful to listen to. She has a raw, real voice, and great songwriting talent. The music is political and powerful and yet she never shoves it down our throat, but always remains subtle and gentle with her statements, like singing to a lover. Way to go, Anais. I highly, highly recommend this CD to anyone who wants to listen to music that will move them to think and feel. And see her live in concert if you can.
Was never the same after.......2005-05-25
SO I'm not a professional reviewer and have only seen her once in concert, but live she is just so delicatly voiced and with almost child-like playfullness. Her album was only good for me bc I have heard her sing the sings directly and had some residual memory from that. I like her a lot, she attaches a lot more to me as a human being than just a singer songwriter. I found some of the later songs on the album to be tedious and dragging. My favorites are Cosmic and story telling girls, and she was absolutly adorable doing 1984. Orion was just devastating (in a good way) in person bc we were fortunate to hear her explaination. Very clever. I think at times her political writing becomes too over-bearing for me. I would Four star- the first half of the ablum absolutly. The second half, I'm still working on warming up to it. She has definitly effected me and I certianly wasn't the same after that show. Give her a shot, see for yourself.
BEST CD I OWN.......2005-04-13
I cannot stop listening to Anais's music. At first I was going to get the 4 free downloads off her site and stick with just that, but after 2 weeks I was playing them on repeat so often that I broke down and bought it. Now I just play the whole CD on repeat. My favorite song is the first one.
Beautiful.......2005-03-14
I have been listening to this CD non-stop since it arrived in my mailbox last week. Anais Mitchell uses her beautiful voice and music to spread the truth; her lyrics tell the very personal stories of ordinary people caught in a moment of our times--miners trapped in a flooded mine, a child seeing the "bad guys" on television, and Mitchell imagining her grandmother sewing a dress. The music feels honest and heartfelt partly because it is not overly produced and polished; it feels personal and intimate, like listening to Mitchell playing songs and telling stories in her kitchen. This CD is unusual because all the songs are perfect in their poetry and sound; every word and note holds you from start to end.

Smooth Grooves: A Sensual Collection, Vol. 2..........2007-06-02
The title says it all. A good collection of love songs at any price. My favorites on this disc:
1. I Just Wanna Be Your Girl - Chapter 8
2. If You Play Your Cards Right - Alicia Myers
4. Let Me Be Your Angel - Stacy Lattisaw
5. Am I Dreaming - Atlantic Starr
7. What You Won't Do For Love - Bobby Caldwell
8. Tender Love (Extended Vocal Remix) - Force M.D.'s
The aforementioned songs were "serious" cuts back in the day!! Five stars!
For R&B Fans.......2006-11-09
What can I say about this compilation? First this CD has some of the greatest slow jams you will ever find. Chapter 8's I Just Wanna Be Your Girl Featuring Anita Baker, is probably the best song on here. Not to say songs like, If You Play Your Cards Right, Let Me Be Your Angel, Tender Love, What You Won't Do For Love, Come Go With Me, As We Lay and the late great Rick James's Fire & Desire are not great songs. Needless to say if you are a R&B fan you will love this CD.
Nothing But Back To Back Classic.......2006-02-08
Smooth Grooves: A Sensual Collection, Vol. 2 is a follow up to Volume 1, and like Volume 1, the CD is very constient with the classic slow jams, that may young folks were made of. Standout tracks include the classic and often sampled Tender Love. Other standout tracks include What You Won't Do For Love by Bobby Caldwell ,Come Go With Me by Teddy P and the always heartbreaking classics Am I Dreaming by Atlantic Starr and Fire & Desire by Rick James.
Rich and Smooth!!!!!.......2003-10-22
This is one of the best compilations in this Smooth Grooves Series and of course I would definitely reccommend this album to
anyone who likes old school rhythm and blues, love songs, and good music every track on this album is solid some of the best names in music are on this album. My favorites: Fire and Desire, Am I Dreaming, Just Be My Lady and many other great artists and songs I love this album !!!!!
This is the best of these CDs (out of all that I own).......2002-07-08
I own quite a few from this series.
When you are sitting around the house on a Sunday night and don't want to turn on the television or read a book, this is the apropos solution.
Particularly good are numbers 1, 2, 8 and 12. The difficulty of finding a lot of these songs individually is what makes the CD worth every penny.
This is a good sampling of some of the best muscial ideas from a lot of the bigger names of the 80s.

Takes me back to good times........2007-02-13
This is a great CD not only does it take me back, it helps me to unwind.
The series got back on track.......2006-12-11
Smooth Grooves: A Sensual Collection, Vol. 9 put the series back on track after strong but a tad bit weaker volmues in the series. The CD opens up with a personal favorite of mine, Real Love by Skyy followed by the doo-wop classic A Penny For Your Thoughts by The Tavers. There's also an extended verison of the classic Computer Love.
Overall, pretty good.......2006-06-27
The strongest tracks are 4, 5, and 7.
This is not consistently good enough to listen to frequently or take a run with.
If you can get it secondhand, this is a worthwhile buy.
