I waited forever for these mixes to come out on CD.......2006-10-07

I soooo thrilled they put this CD out. I bought it the minute I found out about it. I was especially thrilled to get my hands on the remix of "With Every Beat Of My Heart" (I believe there is also another good mix of that song from the 12" single which Sony should consider putting out at some point if they have a chance)

I also bought the Cyndi Lauper and Expose' budget dance mixes collections which Sony/BMG Special Products has put out. They need to put these kids of collections out for all their big 80s and 90s dance artists. Many of the special products budget CDs just have album versions which the artist's fans already have... but when they put out remix CDs... they get to fans to buy it, DJs will buy it, and also casual impulse buyers who want to get a few hit songs for a low price will also buy it. Remix collections appeal to a wider market than album version collections do.

If Sony/BMG really wants to cash in on remix re-releases, they should also put out budget remix & rarities collections for Gloria Estefan, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Lissette Melendez, Ace Of Base, Real McCoy, Snap!, Black Box, Basia, Celine Dion, The Cover Girls, George LaMond, Lisa Stansfield, to name a few of the ones that would really fly of store shelves.

get 12" of "Tell it to my Heart" on "I Love Disco Energy 2" and you're set..........2006-09-26

While this incredible collection featuring almost all Taylor's original 12" versions fails to include the ORIGINAL 12" version of Tell it To My Heart, the import compilation "I Love Disco Energy 2" does have it. And for Taylor completists, also check out the import compilation "Fantastic 80's Extended", which includes the original vocal dub--which has vocals lines sung by Taylor that appear on no other version!

Energetic and danceable remix album! .......2006-08-16

This album took me a year to get, but I am loving this album of remixes by Taylor Dayne! The first eight songs are full of dynamic rare remixes that people like C+C Music Factory, E-Smoove, Vission Lorimer and others did for Taylor. The extended versions of her first two albums' hits are superb, even I'll Be Your Shelter and Don't Rush Me. I do remember Willpower from the 1988 Olympics album, as Taylor had Tina Turner's producers to produce that song. I played that just as much as Whitney Houston's One Moment in Time and the Four Tops' Indestructible from that album. A rarity for Taylor to record a song in 1988 between her 1987 and `1989 albums. But between tracks 2 and 8 are such dynamic remixes of 6 to 7 minutes worth--a solid center of high energy songs full of rhythm! How the remixers extend Taylor's vocal runs to make you think that she held her note or riff for that long! I could go on for days, but this is a well done release for all 10 tracks and 61 minutes worth!

I'm so glad these mixes are finally available on cd! Especially the remixes of "With Every Beat of My Heart" and "I'll Wait" great early 90's house music at it's best! Highly recommended, these tracks, although a little dated, are still timeless, I mean c'mon! IT'S TAYLOR!!!!

Rare dance mixes from one of the best Dance Divas........2006-03-03

This is a collection similar to the budget Cyndi Lauper one issued by Sony/BMG last year. This time you get 8 remixes from one of the best Dance Divas from the 80's and 90's with some classic tracks. Taylor Dayne began her career in 1987 with the Arista issued lp Tell It To My Heart and rocked out the soulful white girl title as good as Teena Marie ever did . For the most part Taylor Dayne was a major POP and Dance act until around 1996 when her Hits collection was issued from Arista and then she was dropped and has put out 1 album of original material for River North -- Naked Without You which produced 2 major dance tracks that are not included here. So this cd features all of Taylor's top 10 dance tracks from Arista (every single she has issued on Arista, River North and Centaur has been a Top Ten dance club track. ) So her is a list of the songs and where they went on the Billboard Dance club charts:

1- Tell It To My Heart (1996 T-empo Single Remix)- 3:46. This went to number 10 and was only a PROMO only single.
2- With Every Beat Of My Heart (Make It Rock Remix)- 7:00. This reached number 8 in 1989 and was the first track off her second cd Can't Fight Fate. The remix is by Richie Jones and if you get the VH1 Classic channel they show the FULL 12" remix of this track as a video.
3- Prove Your Love (Extended Remix)- 7:27. Her first of her 2 number one dance tracks ("Planet Love" on Jellybean records is the other). This is a freestyle type remix that is very faithful to the radio version.
4- Can't Get Enough Of Your Love (C&C Extended Club Mix 1)-6:05. This reached number 2 for 2 weeks and still remains one of her best vocals ever. Listen as she owns every note of this song.
5- I'll Wait (E-Smoove Anthem Vocal Mix)- 7:00. This reached number 3 and was the third track off of Soul Dancing. Still another forceful vocal that dominates this track.
6- Say A Prayer (Vission Lorimer Remix)-6:28. This track reached number 7 and was originally issued from Soul Dancing but was the second track off her Best Of collection in 1995/96 from Arista . The mix is a bit showy in the loops they use to highlight Taylor's voice but still a good mix. Look for the "Say A Prayer " remix cd single for a smoother David Morales remix.
7- Don't Rush Me (Extended Mix)-7:15. Another Richie Jones club mix took this track to number 7 in 1988. I never owned this track until this cd because I wasn't sure how good the remix was. It is very faithful to the original mix.
8- I'll Be Your Shelter (Extended Mix)-5:37-- never issued in the US and as far as I know only in Europe. This is my all time favorite Taylor Dayne track. Part Cher/Tina Turner this track is overdubbed for the remix but still keeps the rock vibe of the original in place. Never hit the US dance charts.
9 and 10 are rare tracks. Track 9 is Willpower and not sure it is a movie track or just a b-side since I have no memory of it. Original Sin was the theme to the Alec Baldwin Comic Book/Serial movie The Shadow. Written by Jim Steinman and sung like the Celine Dion/Meat Loaf/Bonnie Tyler track it is meant to be. It is big and showy and perfect for Taylor Dayne's huge voice. I actually own the promo cd single of this track.

So like the previous reviewers-- the only complaint is that the original 12" remix of "Tell It To My Heart" was not issued on this cd but that is minor to the fact that you get some great dance tracks from such a great vocalist.

I'm not one for 'remixes' but I have to say that this collection is great.
Cyndi Lauper's music is amazing, its pop with abit of Cyndi eccentricity but when she's being remixed u either love it or hate it and i must say these remixes are great. I was grooving to them and they still manage to capture that Cyndi Lauper spirit. The rarerities are awesome too, if ur not a fan u wont have them or u'll be collecting these songs on various cd's and singles (and maybe they'll still be on records lol) but they added them here and they're great.

"Hey Now! (Remixes & Rarities)" is a little gem of a remix album with some great tracks.
1. Hey Now (Girls Just Want to Have Fun) (Junior Vasquez Lounge Remix): Interesting version. Slower and more reggae than lounge, Ms. Lauper's rerecorded vocals are quite good. 10/10
2. You Don't Know (TM's Know-It-All Mix): I likes it! The tribal drums and synths are gorgeous! 10/10
3. Come On Home (Extended Club Mix): COOLNESS! Disco meets club for an enjoyable experience. 10/10
4. That's What I Think (Club Mix): Very 90's. A bit dated, but still very nice. 10/10
5. The Ballad of Cleo and Joe (Soul Solution Vocal Dub): The remix that officially turned me on to Cyndi Lauper. AWESOME! I do have a question, though: why is it called a "dub" when it includes almost all the vocals? 10/10
6. Walk On By (SAF's Walk to the Dance Floor Mix): A tad weird, but enjoyable. 9/10
7. What's Going On (Long Version): The extended mix. Will take you back to the late 80's/early 90's. 10/10
8. Mother (Extended Version): Has the same NF (Nostalgia Factor) as track 9. World is Stone: Haven't heard it yet. -/10
10. You Have to Learn to Live Alone: haven't heard it yet. -/10

All in all, a fantastic release. Cyndi looks beautiful on the front cover!
PS: To the lame-o who said all remixes are crap: you don't like remixes. Good for you! Just realize there are some people who do.

Best album I've bought in 12 months!.......2006-05-03

I have purchased remixed material before - and wished I hadn't.
This was a dream and completely different. Cyndi is actually singing the remixes, it's not just her voice manipulated and changed to fit new music and its not too obscure to be recognisable as her voice and her style.
I am very pleased with this purchase - it's helped me enjoy some older favourites of mine.
It even includes a mix of 'At Last' from the album by the same name that contains contemporary classics.
'Mother' - a solid classic and well remodelled, compelling and poignant.
'You don't know' - what a fabulous upbeat spin on Cyndi's song to life's direction! Easily my favourite on here although to be fair I enjoy them all very much.

She does so much - her talents and voice have been applied to pop, she has rocked a little, she has sung the greats - now she sings dance music, as good as anything you would hear in a night club.

A diamond edition. I will treasure it.

Greatest Remixes, Vol. 1.......2007-03-19

A good overall collection from the C&C Music Factory. My disappointment was "Seduction - It takes two" remix. I'm having no luck in finding a version of the song that I actually like (except on the Seduction's album - where their version of "It takes two" is almost 45 seconds shorter that reported on the CD back-cover!). This collection rates three stars!

It's what we danced to at the start of the 90's!.......2003-07-16

With "Two to Make It Right", "Clouds", "True Love", and "You Take My Breath Away" (featuring a surprisingly good lead from David Cole) as the standout tracks, the rest of this compilation is routine "retro disco" from the time period.

The pair is better represented on "Gonna Make You Sweat" and "The Ultimate C & C Music Factory".

not many people have heard or even see this record these 2 guys started c and c music factory,,,,they are the gods of mixxin and this cd shows all the talent they have,,,i've listened to thid cd for about 6-7 years now and i still love it,,,itsn not one of those cd's you get burned out on,,,it's a must have for anyone who loves there clubs and mixxing,,,,

some HUGE rareties for serious dance collectors, but should have been more!.......2006-09-09

Sony has released a couple of super budget, 3 disc collections over the last few years with some surprise unreleased club mixes on them (Everybody Dance Now, for instance), but this time, they focus on the fact that these are rare mixes. Awesome to see some of these totally unreleased songs made public for so cheap, but there are a few insults--short versions of Aretha, Toni Braxton, Casey Stratton? Sony should have gone for it and made this another 3 disc set with a load more songs--and all the full lengths! Still, how awesome to have some of these: Tori Amos, Gloria Estefan, Blu Cantrell, mixed by some huge remixers. Let's hope for more volumes, and thank them for not ruining this release by making it another worthless 'mixed dance compilation.' Track times:

Jovanotti is almost unknown to North Americans. He shouldn't be. You might not get the Italian, but the playful music needs no translation. Check out "E' qui la festa?" with the guest cameos.

When "Whitney's husband" really mattered.......2003-01-02

The above title is not intended to "diss" Mr. Brown's talent. Brown still has a pretty good voice and stage persona; it's just that time has not been kind to the singer.

This compilation of remixes, culled mostly from his second solo effort "Bobby", features re-workings heavy on bass, overdubbing, and repeated phrases, common during the early 90's.

For his fans, this is a keeper; for those that hope he'll get back on track, it's a reminder of what he was...and could be.

Another average B.Brown CD.......2000-12-06

The only songs that are good are the unreleased songs She's My Lady, I Want, I Need You and One More Night. Bobby should have put the quiet storm remix to Something In Common on the CD that would've have earned hom three stars.

Here are the track titles, all but one are remixed versions of Climie Fisher's hit singles.

1. This Is Me (This is It Mix) - actually the mix name is a typo. This remix is actually the extended remix of the song. The "This is It Mix" is a hip-hopish remix. The remix here is an extended remix of the pop version on the album.
2. Love Changes Everything (House Mix)
3. Rise to the Occasion (Hip-Pop Remix) - another type remix name should say "Hip-Hop Remix" and the aforementioned "This is It Mix" sounds similar to this remix.
4. Keeping the Mystery Alive (Extended Mix) remixed by Bruce Forest
5. Far Across The Water (NOT A REMIX) but also not an album song!
6. Love Changes Everything (Bob Clearmountain Mix) sounds slightly different than the orirginal version.
