Released in 2005 as an import, Giramundo is singer/multi-instrumentalist Fernanda Porto's second album and domestic debut. Generally regarded as one of the finest songwriters on the scene, the Sao Paolo native's background is in music conservatory experimentalism, but over time she's moved into the pop realm with successful soundtrack work, well-received live performances, and an eponymous debut. Not content to follow the pop norm, Porto uses jittery drum 'n' bass rhythms (albeit from Living Colour drummer Will Calhoun) to anchor her often-sexy MPB-style tunes. She even veers completely off the path with a few straightforward hard rock songs (she sounds like the singer from Heart on "Assalto") and tosses in a couple of bouncing reggae pieces for good measure. These are all gestures to broaden her sound, yet there is nothing gratuitous about them. No matter the direction, there is a grace, beauty and maturity to her writing that makes her music work on all its varied levels. --Tad Hendrickson

In this album Fernanda is more mature than at her first (that is just called Fernanda Porto).
There are several different music styles, not just Drum N Bass. If you have an eclectic music taste you will like it a lot.
