For the difficult times in your life .......2007-07-27

I heard about this singer thru my mother. The song "Footsteps" was to be incorporated into her lesson at her church. I had the opportunuity to listen to it, because I purchased the cd, and mailed it to her. It is a very good song, with almost whatever you intend to use it for. With the passing of a loved one, or with scriptures being read at church. Most Christian music, doesn't enthrall me all that much, but Mr. O'Donnell, has a very nice, easy listening voice. The rest of the songs are not without merit, as it seems that he has chosen the right ones to be presented on this cd. One should enjoy the lasting effects, of the entire album....

I saw Daniel O'Donnell in Branson last November for the first time. I was very impressed with his style of singing and the ease with which the songs flowed from him. This album captures his style very well. Daniel O' Donnell is like a Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams others like them all rolled into one. The music is very relaxing and enjoyable.

I am over 50 and came from another country over ten years ago. I did not know who Daniel O' Donnell was when I purchased this CD set. But once I started to listen to the CDs, I could not stop. I absolutely loved them and play them over and over and over... Every time I listen to these songs, there is a warm and wonderful feeling inside me. I love his voice, the way he sings, and all the songs he selected. I would like to give these two CDs 6 stars.

Twenty six of the most beautiful pieces of nostalgic music by one of my very favorite artists. What a bargain! My wife and I play it over and over. Great Ballroom dancing music, even for one not very adept, but inspired. Every piece is a winner.You will be transformed into a mellow mood. Perhaps more so if you are a little bit more mature.

Absolutely beautiful! .......2007-05-15

The first time I heard Daniel O'Donnell was on PBS. I will never forget it because I ususally never stop on that particular channel. But there is something about his voice - and his stage presence - and the songs he was singing that made him unforgettable to me.

This is a magnificent collection of inspirational songs that Daniel O'Donnel has sung so beautifully. "You Raise Me Up", "Surely The Presence of the Lord", "Here I Am Lord", are my mentionable favorites.

American audiences probably - and unfortunately - didn't get their intro to Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell until Public Television aired his 2003 concert of this two-disc, 24-song collection. And what a debt we owe PBS. A truly phenomenal singer, O'Donnell has blessed just about every field of music - pop, rock, country, inspirational - with an incredible punch. This collection is an interdenominational collection of inspirational music that O'Donnell treated a packed audience in a live show in his native country. There's little, if anything, that O'Donnell can't do to his selected songs in this jewel of a CD - from standards like "Nearer My God to Thee," "I Saw the Light," "Sweet Queen of Peace" and "Let There Be Peace" to crossover inspirational pop hits like "Wind Beneath My Wings," "Put Your Hand in the Hand" and "One Day at a Time." As an Irish Catholic, O'Donnell unleashes one of the most inspirational versions of "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace" (The Prayer of St. Francis). As if he needed it, O'Donnell has terrific backup from a gifted group of singers and musicians. In particular, Irish singer Mary Duff joins O'Donnell in "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and goes solo in an upbeat rendition of "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" and which gets the audience stirred up enough to join in. O'Donnell does the Irish proud, and if the United Nations ever needs an Irish ambassador to the world, it ought to check out O'Donnell. For us in the audience, though, O'Donnell gives us the treat of an incredible range of talent and entertainment, and this collection in particular has little - if anything - to criticize. Having grown up as a fan of Gentleman Jim, I have to agree that Gentleman Daniel has come along to do great renditions of Jim Reeves' music. Daniel's version of Welcome to My World is fabulous, that velvety quality and smoothness that is so reminescent of when Jim sang it. Daniel does a wonderful job of paying tribute to a man who obviously inspired him a lot when he was growing up in Ireland.

A magnificent tribute to Gentleman Jim.......2006-11-09

While Daniel has been successful with up-tempo material, I have always preferred him as balladeer - he seems particularly suited to romantic love songs. In particular, I always considered Daniel as a latter-day Jim Reeves, so I was very pleased to see Daniel release this collection of songs made famous by his most obvious influence. I was also pleased to see that Daniel focused on the ballads that he is so good at singing.

In his own career, tragically cut short when he was killed in a plane crash, Jim Reeves had many hits in Britain, which were often different from the hits he had in America. For this tribute album, Daniel has chosen to record many of Jim's biggest British hits.

Here you can listen to Daniel singing his own version's of Jim's British top ten hits - Welcome to my world, I love you because, I won't forget you, There's a heartache following me, It hurts so much and, of course, Distant drums, with which Jim had a posthumous number one hit. Other classics such as Adios Amigo, He'll have to go, You're the only good thing, When two worlds collide and Not until the next time (all of which made the UK top twenty for Jim) are also included.

Daniel has not limited himself to UK hits, but has also included some other fine songs such as Anna Marie, Am I losing you, Blue side of lonesome, Don't let me cross over and How can I write on paper - every one of them well chosen, as they particularly suit Daniel's style.

It is futile to debate the relative merits of Daniel's versions compared to Jim's. As far as I'm concerned, Jim is unbeatable - at least when it comes to his later recordings (from which most of the songs here are selected), but his music will only survive for future generations if artists such as Daniel keep it alive. There will be some people who will buy their first Jim Reeves album because they like this tribute album, and who might never have done so otherwise. What I will say is that there is no singer anywhere is the world who is better suited to doing an album of Jim Reeves songs than Daniel O'Donnell. This album is proof of that.

This magnificent tribute should appeal to existing fans of Jim and Daniel alike. It might even bring them a few new fans who previously didn't take much notice of either of them.

Welcome to the World of Danny O'Donnell.......2006-07-06

I happened to see Danny on PBS and thought the show was pretty good so I started checking into his music, I have purchased many CD's and play them at my office, everyone who comes in wants to know who that is!. So they are all getting Danny CD's for Christmas. Can't wait to get to Branson to see him live. Listening to his voice is so soothing and relaxing and when he sings Danny Boy, nothing better.

Once agin it is completly different type of music that I listen to, but I find this just an excellant cd to have on. He Daniel O'Donnell has a very pleasant voice and I find his very relaxing and soothing. I can not say enough good things about this cd.

Daniel is definitley another Andy Williams and Perry Como!!His voice is absolutley out of this world beautiful!!!!!!! I definitley LOVE this album!!!!

Absolute Best Collection of Irish Music to Own.......2006-06-17

Like another reviewer, I'd give this album a hundred stars if I could. It's simply the best collection of irish music to own...with all the favorites like Danny Boy, but includes many that will capture your heart, like Heaven Around Galway Bay, the Mountains of Mourne, Come Back Paddy Reilly to Ballyjamesduff, Cutting the Corn in Creeslough, and many, many more. If you're already a fan of this remarkable Irishman with the golden voice, you will love this album, because it is simply a great collection of all the best Irish songs he does.
If you've never had the privilege of hearing him sing, you are the poorer for it, and should remedy it immediately by buying this album, and I also recommend The Daniel O'Donnell Show, live in concert for a real taste of the Daniel experience. There is nothing that compares to seeing this man "own" the stage (check him out in Branson at TriLakes Theatre) and relate to his fans (who are legion and very devoted) His voice is mellow and he covers all types of music, even releasing a recent rock n roll album that will take you back to the 50's (wonderful job on this album too) but this particular album is the best collection if you love the traditional Irish songs (and a few you may have never heard)
You cannot hear his music without coming away uplifted and feeling good....it is addictive, which is one reason his concerts sell out months in advance and he is an international star, a favorite son of Ireland, and sought after for concerts all over the world.

I would give this 100 stars, but could only give it 5.Excellent introduction to some classic Irish Music as only Daniel O' Donnell can sing it. You cannot be in a bad state of mind and listen to this music, you will be singing, clapping and dancing along. A wonderful way to spend a few hrs of your day. It is a must have for any Daniel O'Donnell fan, or anyone who loves Irish Music, young or old.

I usually don't listen to this type of music but I find this just an excellant cd's to have on. He Daniel O'Donnell has a very pleasant voice and I find his cd's very relaxing and soothing.

Very Satisfied With This Music CD........2006-08-20

This is an excellent music cd by Daniel who is an excellent male vocalist. All the more I can add is this is the way alot of todays music should be made like with very clear lyrics and excellent music background. No screaming and hollering singing like alot of cd's today. Sorry to say but I believe the recording business companies have lost sight of what real fine music is like today!!! Many performing artists in the music field could learn much from this man's fine performing on cd's
that he has put out for sale to the public.

Songs of The 1950's.......2004-02-14

I purchased this CD from Ireland nearly a year ago.For all of you folks who were teenagers in the 1950's, this is a MUST recording to have for your collection. Done as all of Daniel's music with a great easy listening voice,,It will bring back many memories of a era long past.Elvis..Ricky Nelson..Richy Vallens and more. Daniel does not try to imitate these singers but he does a fantastic job on them.
I had to pay a lot more than this price listed but it was worth every penny.
