Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Sergio Lives!.......2003-07-20

This album is for real romantics for whom nothing is too gooey. These are old fashioned romantic Italian songs, most of which appeared in the top of the charts in Europe around circa 1968 and were heard all over Europe at all the discos, especially after everything had simmered down and a little slow dancing was called for. Lots of strings and just, sigh, high romanticism plus. They don't make 'em like this anymore, darn it. Call it old fashioned. I just call it glorious music for falling in love. Or, if you're as old as I am, for remembering when a youthful you fell in love in romantic places.

while his voice isn't as powerful as some of the other
italian pop singers of the 60's, it is still a beautiful
voice and the songs are great too.

5 out of 5 stars Endrigo is poetry that sounds like music.......2001-08-20

For years I have waited a CD release of these 2 marvellous poems by Endrigo, 'Dove credi di andare' and 'Adesso si'. I own 'Canzone per te', sung by Roberto Carlos, but his Brazilian accent kills part of the beauty in the song. I look forward to hearing the lovely song in Endrigo's voice, at long last. No, I don't think that exclusion of the wonderful 'Aria di Neve', 'Era d'estate', and other pearls already available on other CDs will be regretted by Endrigo's fans. This CD brings those extremely beautiful songs that were not big hits. That is what makes it so unique. Thanks to Amazon for getting this CD into its inventory. I will be ordering it soon after I finished this review.

4 out of 5 stars A poet rediscovered.......2000-12-30

A beautiful collection of ballads and songs, this album embodies the essentials of Sergio Endrigo's approach to music as a poem opportunity for love and social issues. Although the aficionados will be disappointed for the absence of classics such as "Era d'estate" or "Via Broletto" or, even so, "Aria di neve" which I consider his melancholic masterpiece, here we have plenty of Sergio Endrigo's sweet and delicate irony. His music will delight those who love Italian melody, but with a zest of wit, passion, and deep melancholy. One can gather what his thoughts and life might have been. The titles in this collection include the romantic "Canzone per te" (Song for you) that became a hit with Roberto Carlos' interpretation, and the beautiful "Girotondo intorno al mondo", a melancholic invitation to end enmity, disparities and, ultimately, injustice in personal relationships as well in the whole world. A nice, inexpensive treat to some Italian poetry of the 60's and 70's, and a due tribute to a great and largely overlooked author.
