4 out of 5 stars A regular listener's impression.......2006-03-24

I am not an expert in classical music, but have always loved the string instruments. I bought this CD for relaxation (as the title implies) and to help me focus on writing a thesis. I was torn between this CD and the Cello for Relaxation. I am pleased with my choice. My favorites are track #2 and #10 (listen to the samples through Amazon) - I usually play these two on repeat. My least favorite is track #7 because it sounds like a piano dominated movie soundtrack.
Although I wish I could have exchanged some of the tracks for others, I think this CD was worth the money and is a nice mix for those of us who don't know specific composers by name or who want a good sampling.

4 out of 5 stars VIOLIN.......2005-09-10

The selection of music was a good mix and pleasant in listening to them.

The choice of orchestras and conductors are also very well selected offering very good variety in the similar music mood.

My two long time favourites "Meditation" and "Salut d'amour" were very well played in the right tempo and instrumental arrangement.

The recording quality is good offering both clarity and defination in the recording.

5 out of 5 stars Everything remembered and wanted on strings.......2003-10-16

To me, it is an extraordinary combination demonstarting the old world beauty and timeless artistry of the violin.

It will take you back to everything good remembered, and forward to everything good ahead of us.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful.......2000-06-16

The music on this cd is so beautiful. It is perfect to listen to when you want to relax.

The apocalyptic comedians of the Firesign Theatre return with Give Me Immortality or Give Me Death, their first studio recording in nearly 20 years. Like their original classics, this one tells a story that is greater than the sum of its satire, double entendres, and nonstop puns. Join the festivities as FT's own Radio Now broadcasts the end of the world, live on December 31, 1999. You'll hear Joe Camel's farewell speech, learn about the mysterious guys in eyeball hats, and be on the scene for the Princess Goddess Doll Drop. Old fans will get goose bumps as used-car dealer Ralph Spoilsport returns to sell cloned body parts, but even (puzzled) newcomers to the Firesign universe should be hooked after a few repeat plays. The more you listen to Give Me Immortality, the funnier it gets. --John Sulak

5 out of 5 stars comparable to the golden age.......2007-05-08

Back around the turn of the century, I got this one and also Boom Dot Bust.

The way you tell the two apart is: The one with the lame title is the one with the good material, and vice versa.

In other words, this is a good one.

In my opinion at least.

I was reminded of this as I engage in dialog on the Stockhouse message boards discussing small Canadian gold exploration companies. It tends to take years for news to develop with those, but a lot of people who invest in them seem to expect things to happen at internet speed.

Which reminded me of "Glacier the movie".

I think the best thing about Firesign Theater is the quotable quotes.

Throughout my adult life I am constantly remembering quotes from Firesign Theater.

I just listened to a few clips here just now and was reminded of a couple of the gems on this album:

"everybody has to die, but you don't need to be there when it happens"

"that's not news, that's lame chitchat"

Yes, some people don't seem to find these guys funny. I guess humor is a hard thing to assess analytically.

All I know is that I find these guys absolutely brilliant.

As to this particular album, I consider it comparable to their great work of several decades ago.

5 out of 5 stars If you like Firesign Theatre you will like this..........2006-07-17

It took me a while to get used to this group. Once I got them, I find them very funny. There humor is very intellegent and layered. This is not the best first album to hear, but it compliments one's Firesign collection for sure.
For me there are many great skits and lines in this one. Plus it is very well edited for comedic timing and music.

2 out of 5 stars Nihilism.......2005-08-18

Making people laugh is the lowest form of humor, according to the late Michael O'Donoghue.

Well, Firesign is heading in that direction with this album. They try to maintain a dark atmosphere for effect's sake, but largely this album is only untraceable puns and retreaded jokes. The new characters created here are not funny or even amusing as stereotypes.

The fellows are old, and they don't like the era in which we live. They've gone from social commentators to borscht belt humor in this one...good thing Boom Dot Bust was better!

5 out of 5 stars Back in the shadows again.......2003-07-16

This is easily the masterpiece of the recent batch of Firesign reunion discs, and where the others have an easygoing feel that's downright likable, this one is dark and scary enough to take you right back to those Altamont Gram Parsons-dying-in-the-desert LA-sliding-into-the-Helter Skelter 70s. The difference is that it's all in bite-sized bits-- if the best older albums were like an LP-long guitar solo (brilliant or self-indulgent, as the case may be), this one is as slick, disciplined and hooky as a Clapton comeback album.

4 out of 5 stars Still Tops In The Satire Game.......2001-08-10

They're back with a passion. In their first new release in what seems like forever, Firesign Theatre shows that they still got it in spades. From old faves like Ralph Spoilsport to new characters like Bebop Loco and Chump Threads, the boys serve up a nonstop megamix of their rip-roaring comedy with "Give Me Immortality, Or Give Me Death". For those not familiar with these guys, Firesign Theatre began in the late sixties as an unorthodox comedy improv group, lambasting virtually everyone and everything, thus becoming a mainstay of late night progressive radio. A whole generation became so familiar with their material that they could quote most of the sketches from memory. Before Saturday Night Live, they were the reigning gods of humor with such classic albums as "Don't Crush That Dwarf...Hand Me The Pliers" and "How Can You Be In Two Places At Once, When You're Not Anywhere At All?". In their heyday they actually inspired a few knock offs like the Credibility Gap and the Conception Corporation who were quite good in their own right, but couldn't keep up with Firesign' prodidgious and prolific output. They inspired the National Lampoon Radio Hour as well. As the seventies dragged along, the albums diminished in quality a bit in my opinion. But this new one is better than all but the first three, no mean feat. Masters of aural disguise, they seem to have every accent down pat.The production, with myriad sound effects and original music, is nothing short of visionary. And their satire is right up to date in the hiphop era. A few years back they performed at U. Mass. to support their excellent double retrospective "Shoes For Industry" and made a couple of stopovers to local FM stations to leave their much sought after station IDs. It is a tribute to their longevity that the only spoken word material in so many collections then and now are their unique productions. If you posess even the bare rudiments of a sense of humor, you won't be dissapointed with this one. Forty seven minutes and a cavalcade of hiarious album photos as well.

5 out of 5 stars Major Finzi, indeed!.......2006-09-26

This disc has already gathered a lot of rave reviews to which I can only add my modest appraisal -a positive one- in matters of sonics and interpretive eloquence. I applaud this Naxos release, for beyond doubt it is one of the great Finzi discs. Unless the Partridge Lyrita SRCS75 is pulled out from the crypt and resurrected on cd (that's, hopefully, probable), this excellent Naxos recording will fill the bill as the finest inquiry into Wordsworth's Intimations. Missing only an ounce of limpidity as well as, admittedly, the verve of the Partridge (exemplary in terms of vocal and orchestral fluence as much as in the qualities pertaining to recorded sound), the Naxos brings together two of Finzi's greatest works in quite superb, efficient renderings that contradict the `budget price' tag affixed on its jewel case. Deservingly, conductor David Hill is taking his due place among Britain's most renown musicians. He has worked on a good deal of recordings (notably for Hyperion) in organ and choral music, including a noteworthy account of Elgar's Gerontius with the Bournemouth forces and Waynflete Singers (also on Naxos). Finzi's orchestration is followed with attention to detail; the rhythmic pulse is taut without sounding overbearing. The performance does not ignore that sort of melodic contour which is typical of the composer. The Bournemouth S.O. under Hill's astute command has `captured' the finzian mood quite well, while tenor Gilchrist's voice is magnificent. The filler, the ode `For Saint Cecilia', is very good as well and carries near demonstration-quality sound. In case I haven't made my point sufficiently clear : This album is quite a nice accomplishment.

4 out of 5 stars A Major but Rarely-Heard Finzi Work.......2006-06-11

Much as I like the music of Gerald Finzi (1901-1956) I had never heard his largest work -- the longest at any rate, at almost forty minutes -- 'Intimations of Immortality' for tenor, chorus and orchestra. Based of course on Wordsworth's poem that sings of the instinctual freshness and sensitivity of childhood and laments its passing when one passes into adulthood, it is a heartfelt work from Finzi whose own childhood and youth were painful, lonely and tragic, and whose escape into music and literature set his course in adulthood, an attempt to keep that child's responsiveness alive in himself. Finzi set nine of the eleven stanzas of the Wordsworth poem -- VII and VIII are omitted -- with orchestral interludes between each of them, and it took him almost twenty years to complete, interrupted as it was by the horror of the Second World War. He finished it in 1950. The central theme of the poem (in IV) -- 'Whither is fled the visionary gleam? Where is it now, the glory and the dream?' -- is set to somber tones and is ultimately answered by the 'intimations of immortality' in IX and X -- 'O joy! that in our embers / is something that doth live ... in the faith that looks through death.' Clearly this is a deeply personal work for Finzi.

Tenor James Gilchrist and the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus provide appropriate musical expression for Finzi's setting of the alternately troubled, rapt or joyous discourse of Wordsworth's poem. The Bournemouth Symphony is its usual expert self under the direction of David Hill.

The CD is filled out with a performance of Finzi's setting of a 'Ceremonial Ode' by Edmund Blunden, 'For Saint Cecilia' written specifically for a celebration of St. Cecilia's Day in 1947. Although there is some enjoyable ceremonial music here, particularly in the use of Waltonian fanfare motifs, this is public and rather impersonal music that, for me, doesn't particularly warrant frequent hearing although it is expertly done here.

4 out of 5 stars should've been 5 stars.......2004-03-06

The only reason I give this CD 4 stars is due to the fact that it has only 8 songs totaling 49:55 minutes long, and the first and the last are pretty much the same song. Other than that , the music is supreme. It takes your mind on a wonderful hypnotic journey. I have listened to it over and over since I got it. I love it so much that I am going to order all the other selections by this group as soon as I am finished with this review. If you love drum beats and didgeridoo, you will love this CD too.

5 out of 5 stars A Musical Journey Beyond Time.......2003-07-07

Immortality is a musical exploration of an alien crash landing in Australia thirty thousand years ago. The record of the landing was contained in a set of petroglyphs discovered by one Captain Frederic Windgate in a cave in Tasmania in 1789. Captain Windgate copied the rock drawings into his journal which Cybertribe's John Deere fortuitously stumbled upon in an antique shop in Amsterdam in 1983. Deere subsequently traveled to Tasmania, found the cave with the petroglyphs, and entered into a psychic journey unlocking the 'memories' of the landing of alien life forms (twenty-five of three hundred beings aboard the ill-fated spacecraft survived the crash). The result of his investigation is an extraordinary musical presentation which is both rapturously beautiful and spiritually deep. Whatever one may think of the story behind the creation of Cybertribe's second recording effort for New Earth Records, the music speaks for itself. This is supernal ambient-trance electronica thoroughly grounded in the Earth by virtue of the ever present organic droning sounds of the didgeridoo. Joyous and inspired, the music has a distinctly sacred feel to it. Although an ode to another civilization, Immortality carries lessons for humanity as it struggles to realize the divine nature of the gift of life here on our planet. Thus the music is as much about our collective future as it is about extraterrestrial life and the past. For those in doubt about sampling CDs outside of their usual repertoire and already acquired tastes, I heartily recommend Immortality as an exotic yet highly accessible listening experience not to be missed under any circumstances. This music will amaze you!

5 out of 5 stars IMMORTALITY-CYBERTRIBE.......2001-09-12

Cybertribe, headed by John Deere, is a composite of renowned underground house and rave artists that have taken the International market by storm, with a strong presence in Germany and Japan.

In Immortality, their second New Earth Records release, Cybertribe combines the haunting and mystical sounds of the didgeridoo, ambient vocal chants and contemporary dance rhythms.

1 out of 5 stars On Steve Reich's "Three Tales".......2005-11-03

Weeks before seeing Three Tales I heard its score. The music Reich composed for this opera is slightly less interesting than anything he has published previously. It features incessantly repeating syncopated phrases comprised of annoying melodies tossed upon stagnant, droning tones. This is the best that can be noted of the work. Mr. Reich uses Three Tales to expand his compositional methods into the modern age of the early 1990's. Time-stretched vocals are in every piece. A computerized voice (as that available standard on every Macintosh computer) sings several solos in the Dolly act. Uncomplicated, novice drum programming also hammers into numerous pieces - this is particularly disappointing as Mr. Reich is a competent percussionist himself. From onset to finish the score falls victim to a toybox of mundane digital audio gimmicks - perhaps impressive to the ignorant elite of la musique nouveau but thoroughly boring to anyone willing to acknowledge the radio music of the last two decades [see N'Sync's BT produced "Pop", Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle", Britney Spears' Neptunes produced "Slave", or anything produced for Madonna by William Orbit for far more progressive and successful attempts at integrating DSP (Digital Signal Processing) techniques into music]. Reich and his engineers should understand that these audio effects are not an end in and of themselves, and it shows little respect for the listener to try to pass these off as such.

The greater failing of Three Tales is the video component produced by Beryl Korot. I want to write only a few words on this piece as I have already spent more time on this review than a first grader with iMovie would require to reproduce Ms. Korot's cut and paste disaster. In my life I have watched my father slowly succumb to bone cancer, I see daily attrocities broadcast on the television news and the uncut footage on HBO or the internet. Yet, not for its content but for its design Ms. Korot's video for Three Tales is perhaps the worst thing ever to have struck mine eyes.

5 out of 5 stars Revolutionary experimental music + video by Steve Reich & Beryl Korot.......2004-10-21

Love it or not, Reich's music is STILL revolutionary. The sort of art that's going to draw public scorn and praise -- choose your side. The piece called DOLLY ... wow, one of the most amazing music videos ... brilliant, I thought. Included in DOLLY's cast of characters: Freya von Moltke, 'Kismet', Ruth Deech, Richard Dawkins, James D. Watson, Gina Kolata, Steven Jay Gould, Jaron Lanier, Sherry Turkle, Rodney Brooks, Steven Pinker, Robert Pollack, Adin Steinsaltz, Kevin Warwick, Joshua Getzler, Ray Kurzweil, Cynthia Breazeal, Bill Joy, Marvin Minsky, Henri Atlan. If you're bothered by strange editing, visual treatments and sonic processing as "something must be wrong with my CD/DVD player!" then perhaps this music + video is not for you. I'm giving this five stars just for DOLLY! I also enjoyed the other pieces: HINDENBURG, and BIKINI, though a little less. If you're a serious Steve Reich fan, this recent music + video work by Reich and Korot should certainly NOT disappoint -- however, be warned -- this is NOT '18 Musicians' or 'Desert Music' ... more like 'Different Trains' ... experimental and revolutionary.

      1 out of 5 stars 60s leftist rehash mishmash.......2004-10-05

I love Steve Reichs works and am always looking forward to the next, but I was sadly dissapointed with this one. Musically this was surprisingly dull and I dare say, quite ugly.

One of the most striking elements of much of Steve Reichs earlier music is the combination of harmonic and melodic beauty with fascinating rhythmic structures. Unfortunately, that doesn't not exist here at all. Consistent dissonance, seemingly for dissonance sake, the use of an assortment of instruments (voice, strings, piano, percussion) in a dry and dull acoustic setting, and a text that is about as exciting and interesting as reading the Sunday news, all combines for some very uninspiring and uninteresting music. Then add a video that, for all the technology available to us, uses amazingly simplistic and trite visual mechanisms to rehash leftist political statements that were popular in the 60s and 70s, and you have what I think is one of Steve Reichs least appealing works.

While "Different trains" did a wonderful job of combining spoken word and music, this piece requires the vocalists to sing what are essentially spoken and written words, and the result is what one would expect, weak and dull at best.

At its worst, this video is barely equal to a first time music video students output. At best it's an insult to my intelligence. A divided screen showing the same scene at different times; splicing up an interviewees statement and repeating it over and over; displaying words on the screen as the singers are singing them (Mitch Miller anyone?); mixing scrolling text and video...techniques so banal and simplistic, it is amazing that such a weak collection of sounds and images recieved any support at all from a record company.

Strangest of all is the subject matter of the pieces. The Hindenburg disaster, the destruction of Bikini Atoll and the cloning of Dolly. How many times are 'artists' going to use their pulpit to preach the evils of technology and the evil nature of man, and how the combination of the two will one day result in the destruction of the world? These are such tired and worn out positions that they need to go the way of the Bikini Atol themselves. It's old news and it's completely irrelevant in todays world. In a word, boring.

Where is the originality that we know Steve Reich is capable of? Where is the vision here? Where is the unique insight that would make some impact on the way I view the world? Where is the originality of vision that is so apparent in "Different Trains" in which spoken images and recollections of the banal and the horrific were combined with incredible ingenuity and care?

You will find none of that here. Don't buy this CD/DVD. Save your money, you'll be glad you did.

5 out of 5 stars Try again, it's all there and good, I promise.......2004-05-30

Just because you do not like "Three Tales" does not mean that "Three Tales" sucks. You were expecting "Music for 18 Musicians-the sequel", maybe?

This is a different kind of music.

To be honest, at first, I did not at all care for the music or the video. Then really, honestly went back and listened to the music. When you listen to what's actually going on, and shut your mind up, you will discover something incredible. You could of course continue thinking that "Three Tales" sucks. Good for you. But you're really missing out on one of the most interesting and spectacular works in recent times.

1 out of 5 stars Just to Clarify.......2004-05-29

In response to the person who said not to listen to my review. I would like to add that I'm a long term Reich fan, I love most of his music, but I just think this work is extremely disappointing. I have listened to it and watched it a lot to try and get to like it but it just isn't happening. I'm not one of these Glass or Reich freaks who think you can't like one if you like the other. I think they both create great works but in recent years they have both been a bit disappointing. I am not alone in thinking this, almost all the people I know who love Reich's music think this is a poor piece, especially considering the amount of time it took to make. That is the most frustrating thing about Reich, it takes him so bloody long to come up with something, but recently when he does
it is just not worth the wait. Glass is far more prolific and although a lot of his recent output is fairly dull, he does produce some good stuff every now and then. You just have to find it. Anyway, I've said all I need to say, Three Tales sucks, go buy something like Trance by Michael Gordon instead.

      1 out of 5 stars Complete Crap.......2006-01-03

I have a ton of patience and a fascination with expiremental music, but this is just one annoying sound effect after another. No form, structure, or thought went into this. Maybe that is the brilliance of it- but I cannot see it.

      5 out of 5 stars It's really good - it's not David Byrne!.......2001-10-29

Peach of Immortailty - an enigma in a pre-fab world! Please add my voice to those who enjoy this album, the work of the Situationist-inspired sonic terrorist Tom Smith, and the confusion it/he inspires. The sound quality is well below N*Sync standards, of course, but sometimes you have to swallow anti-music venom and not complain about the aftertaste. Sonic Youth's mid-to-late 90s SYR recordings seem to have been inspired by POI's "Talking Heads '77" - it's no surprise then that Thurston Moore is a fan of Smith's most recent group, To Live and Shave in L.A.

What does it sound like? Shimmering, frightening ambience, like the sound of speeding tractor-trailers as heard from farmhouses and dirt roads miles away. Creepy, but not goth. There are some vocals, but they are mixed far below the surface of the music. It just gets under your skin! The Little Richard sample is BRILLIANT. Recorded in late 1984, this record was well ahead of its time. Highly recommended if you have a sense of musical adventure.

      5 out of 5 stars This is a well-known avant-garde classic..........2001-05-05

...however, do not be fooled into thinking that the group performing these recordings is Talking Heads! Peach of Immortality burst upon the predominantly hardcore punk and go-go oriented Washington, DC scene in 1984. They used tape-manipulated rock recordings (Captain Beerfheart, Little Richard, etc.) as canvases on which they spattered ambient-dub soundscapes. Most were rather unsettling in tone; in other words, GOOD. They had a marked disdain for the prevailing "evil" industrial music of the time, however, and found the misanthropic posturing of groups like Whitehouse to be ludicrous. They were pasasionate, fiery punk intellectuals, I suppose - two of the members of the group, Jared Louche and Tom Smith, have gone on to lengthy (underground) careers as writers and vocalists (Chemlab and To Live and Shave in L.A., respectively). They chose the name "Talking Heads '77" to mock what they considered to be the stratified and emotionally numb world of independent rock. It was released in 1985. They went on to release other albums, all of which are more than worth a trip to a collector vinyl shop to track down (no others have as yet been reissued on CD). Their version of "Talking Heads '77" was recorded in an art gallery, thus the many complaints about sound quality. This is how Peach of Immortality wanted it, apparently, so if you can get past the cassette recorder production values, this remains an amazing album, full of bizarre twists and turns... Many of its moments are flat-out brilliant, although it's easy to see why so many people misunderstand their intent. They gave no information on the original vinyl release, apart from a variety of - get this - purposely misleading literary clues. They even used another band's photo on their album cover! The 1996 reissue employed clip art from an old 70s porno novel to very amusing effect; they even included a photo of the original band! Buy it, yes, but remember, it's not a product of David Byrne and company!

4 out of 5 stars A peach indeed, of early avant garde noise........1999-09-02

First of all, DO NOT, under any circumstances, confuse this album with the New Wave band led by David Byrne.

This album is an expiremental, free form, all out assault on song structure, with some very thrilling transitions and moments. Anyone interested in instrumentals similar to Sonic Youth's SYR 1,2, and (especially--) 3 recordings will find this album a unique and refreshing glimpse into the history of undergroudn music. Perhaps the only questionable thing about this album is the low-fi quality at which it was recorded; some, however, may find even that to be a bonus. "for the soon to be hearing impaired"

1 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled, this is not a Talking Heads album........1999-03-25

Peach Of Immortality: Talking Heads '77, from what I can tell, has nothing to do with the Talking Heads whatsoever. I bought this thinking it was some sort of Talking Heads material, so imagine my disappointment when I heard this CD of random sounds, no drumbeat or vocals, and no hint of the band I payed to hear. I wouldn't have bought this CD if there had been a review of it listed, but there was none. So, I felt it was my duty to write one and perhaps save someone from wasting their money like I did. This is not a good CD.

4 out of 5 stars A wonderful collection of Khachaturian suites.......2004-12-27

Khachaturian (1903-1978) was an Armenian composer who came under scrutiny during the reign of Stalin for adhering more to "antipopular" musical styles. His style is similar to Prokofiev's and Shostakovich's; sometimes, his music seems like a blend of the two composers' styles. More modern comparisons to Khachaturian include Basil Poledouris ('Robocop,' 'Hunt for Red October,' 'Conan the Barbarian') and Danny Elfman ('Beetlejuice,' 'Edward Scissorhands'). The Finale of 'Prisoner No.217,' at times, harmonically resembles 'Conan the Barbarian.' I do not recommend this CD as an introduction to Khachaturian's music, rather try a recording of his ballet 'Spartacus.'

The Overture to 'Pepo,' the first track on the album, is perhaps the most beautiful of all the tracks.

'Undying Flame' is a suite of eight small pieces -- the longest, the Finale, being only three and a half minutes in length. 'The battle and Christ' is quite exciting with high woodwind flurries and charging snares and timpani. The Finale begins like an organ chorale with thumping bass and homophonic texture. It builds to a climax of sorts but it isn't very exciting. The final chord features the high woodwinds with horn and string bass. The harp plucks an augmented fourth above the tonic, leaving the final chord very dissonant but still beautiful.

'Secret Mission' is six pieces also of short length. Percussion shines through again, especially in "Surrender." Triplet figures in the trumpets and woodblock provide a galloping-horse effect; nevermind that 'Secret Mission' was a WWII flick. "The pilot" is a wonderful march with syncopation, piccolo and xylophone melody, and a cute brass riff. This suite also has another exciting Finale.

The Overture in 'Admiral Ushakov' contains an interesting pastorale-like melody for clarinet and oboe. "The Battle" is interesting with continuous sixteenth-note licks in the horns. Tubas get a moment to shine here, but percussion and trumpets slightly drown them out. "Funeral" contains beautiful, sombre chord progressions supporting a very 'Russian' melody in the strings. "Russian sailors" contains a march very Mahler-esque in style with timpani playing the tonic and dominant and the horns playing a heroic tune with accents from the trumpets. The Finale is the first on the CD that actually leaves you feeling like the suite has come to its full fruition.

Conversely, the Overture of 'Prisoner No.217' is the first to sound like a true overture with better developed melodies and sections of contrasting mood. "Murder" contains a creepy passage with bass clarinet melody, shivering strings, and a dancing-bone xylophone. "In the prison" continues the dark mood with the shivering strings even higher and an evil downward three-note figure in the lower strings. Percussion begs to burst forth, but that doesn't occur until "Work." The Finale, although not the best Finale on this recording, contains many beautiful moments, especially one passage following a connecting solo cello line.

As a whole, this is a nice collection of Khachaturian's suites, 'Secret Mission' being the most spectacular. Armenians must be proud of their Philharmonic Orchestra, especially its percussion section. The package has great liner notes. The fade in the concert hall can be heard at the end of some tracks, which is a good thing. It makes it seem more like a performance instead of a recording.
