Music to share with everyone you know..........2004-11-19

Flamenco, schmenko! This is a superb album of music that transcends any particular genre. It just goes to show you that a really gifted musician doesn't need to drench everything in synthesizers, backed by booming drums and bass. Juan Martin uses a guitar, some voices, handclaps, and a few other traditional instruments to superb effect. Some of it you can even dance to--allow "Esencia" to get you moving, and see where it leads.

I teach workshops all over the US and Europe (http://www.soundersleep.com), and I often play songs from this album as musical punctuation for my teaching. Without fail someone will ask me, "What was that gorgeous music?" I myself listen to it at home, while driving, and on my iPod during transatlantic flights. It's one CD I never tire of. It still seems fresh after dozens of listenings. Pounce!
