Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A punk classic.......2007-07-06

This has got to be one of the greatest punk CDs you are likely to find out there. Songs like 'someones gonna die' and 'razors in the night' are just damn classics! I dont care if you like Oi/Punk or not you just cant help singing along to "Do you feel alright Oi! Oi! Oi! Oi! someones gonna die tonight!"

This is a double CD and as the band progresses some of the stuff does start to go downhill (such as the song 'white man' what the hell were they on when they wrote that??) Sounds like someone was starting to get hooked on the new romance thing of the 80s.

Still, some great tracks on this not to mention the classic 'warriors' Great that this is a double CD, it pretty much has all the Blitz tracks on it.

Yeh Blitz got caught up in the whole Oi thing and to an extent they were an Oi band (always considered themselves punk though) anyway who cares? Great Band.

5 out of 5 stars Absolute classics of streetpunk/oi.......2006-01-23

This is, in fact, one of the best rock records in the world, whether you like punk and oi or not. Every single song is amazing. The production is not utterly clear, but that adds some of its charm. The standout tracks are hard to distinguish because, as stated above, every single track is so amazing. Propaganda may be the greatest; but Time Bomb is also stunning, and Warriors is truly anthemic (20 years ago, when I was 16, it was all I could listen to). Youth is also anthemic. The only weak one is Fight to Live, in my humble opinion. I cannot recommend this marvelous record enough.

5 out of 5 stars Strap on your Grinders and kick a wanker in the crotch. Oi!.......2005-06-23

"Voice of a Generation..." is really good. You can't go wrong with this record. Even the bloke who didn't normally enjoy Oi! liked it. Some songs are straight up Oi! ("We Are the Boys"), whilst others definitely have a punk influence ("I Don't Need You"). They all bloody work. Well the only exceptions being the second half of the second disc where Blitz for some reason completely abandons their original sound in favor for crap. The second disc does have the single best song ever, "Someone's Gonna Die". That song makes me wanna punch a copper in the face.

BEST SONGS:
"We Are the Boys", "Time Bomb", "Voice of a Generation", "Bleed", "T.O.", "Propaganda", "Criminal Damage", "Your Revolution", "Scream", "4Q", "Moscow", "Closedown" "SOMEONES' GONNA DIE", "Attak", "Fight to Live", "45 Revolutions", "Never Surrender", "Razors in the Night", and "Youth".

Highly recommend!

4 out of 5 stars surprisingly good Oi!.......2003-05-20

I hate most Oi. I think most of it's slow, boring, boneheaded mush. Sure, it can be catchy. Sure, it's "anthemic" with lyrics for "working class" youth. But how many times can you hear the same lyrics about fighting, drinking, hating communists and nazis, and hanging out with "the boys"?
So why do I love Blitz? I'm not quite sure. Maybe it's because they are typically a little bit more uptempo than their Oi! bretheren. Could also be that the band was made up of both skinheads and punks, which sort of channeled the best of both aesthetics into one band. Unlike pure skinhead bands like Last Resort of Combat 84, Blitz has a lot of punk attitude and sneer, and the songs' tempos don't just sound like a bunch of Doc Martens stomping in place endlessly.
My favorite tracks from Blitz are the earliest, from the "All Out Attack" 7". Every song on that record is an instant punk classic, with, of course, "Someone's Gonna Die" being the standout. It is about beating people up, but, sheesh, who cares? And listen to that buzzsaw guitar that begins "Attack"! It sounds like electrodes sizzling into your flesh! It's a total raw masterpiece.
The more polished later tracks are good too... more melodic, though. "Nation on Fire," "Propaganda," "Moscow" and "Voice of a Generation" are great songs. I especially like "Propaganda," with its great "I can see many reds underneath my bed..." bridge.
So, take it from me... I hate most Oi! and this stuff is genius. I don't even feel guilty listening to it.
