Japanese Taiko.......2007-01-11
This is my first taiko cd. As the other reviews said, the first song is the best, it is absolutly intense. The whole cd is great though. If you work out, this is a perfect cd to listen to while doing so. If you can sit still while listening to this, I'd be very surprised. Buy it, you won't regret it!
Interesting New Drum Sounds.......2006-05-15
Edited to add: So I've been listening to this CD for a while. I'm really not very crazy about it. The first time I heard the first song I really liked it, but it got old really fast. The selection of percussive instruments on this CD just bores me. There's just not enough variety for me - but then again, I'm used to listening to a lot of African music where you have djuns, sangbans, djembes, bells - all with a wide variety of different ways to play them. All in all, I suppose that this is still a good cd, but it's just not for me.
Amazing Japanese drumming...!.......2004-09-27
One of the best Taiko collections I've heard.......2004-09-04
There are nine cuts on this CD: the first seems VERY long but it's actually shy of 8 minutes--some are longer, 9:31 and 10:46 . The first cut Harvest is by far the best, though I like the almost 11 minute Heart Beat a lot as well.
The thundering big drums have traditional rhythms, but merge into melodic "songs" of a more modern nature. The drums are of varying sizes and tuned to different tones, and there is auxiliary percussion (sticks on the drum frame and some other percussion as well) but the Taiko dominate.
I find Taiko very energizing and I play this CD to lift my mood, especially if doing household tasks. If you like percussion, this is absolutely a must-have cd. We were VERY impressed.

At last -- Japanese music for chocolate lovers! An iParenting Media "Hottest Products of 2004"and Parents' Choice Recommended award winner! Koto virtuoso Elizabeth Falconer combines forces with her son Brian to play koto music as smooth and uplifting as chocolate. You don't have to be a Japan expert or practice Zen meditation to enjoy this. Inspired by her son's love of chocolate, Falconer composed music that is warm and inviting, sophisticated yet accessible. The sound of the koto evokes images of delicate blossoms and soft clouds. A delicious album for all ages to enjoy.Customer Reviews:

Taikoza 's first album. Music performed on huge Taiko( made out of Tree trunk). This ancestral Japanese Art form will energize you, perfect music to give you the enrgy you need for the day. It also includes beautiful and haunting melodies performed on bamboo flute ( shakuhachi and Fue) and the string instrument, the koto. One of the best Taiko CD around. A great variety of beautiful melodies and exciting rhythms.Customer Reviews:

Some of the negative reviewers don't seem to have listened to this CD as they don't even mention the non taiko music on this CD, there must be some people online just thriving on destroying things, get a life! and lighten up, the power of taiko is so great it is a healing element, I wish those reviewers had actually listened to the CD and had felt the healing power of the taiko.

weirdly fascinating.......2006-12-13
Way back, long time ago while traveling to Japan I was so excited to discover this all new world of rising sun, while all I came to realize is that Japan if full of weirdness and fascination given to you at one time without you being prepared or not. And Kisaragi is exactly what this is. Its not only fully Japanese world, but its weird and unexpected. Listening this CD, visually you imagine the lights of Tokyo the night on the streets, dark bars, girls giggling on the street and even the taste of Japanese green ice cream.
Kisaragi connects all types of Japanese culture but this is not the traditional J Pop as we know it. Kisaragi used the traditional instruments and evolves the wild mood that could even be played at the house parties.
One thing that I didn't like too much, was the extreme diversity. Each song is changing the mood totally and I need to click through some songs not to get the shock. However I was very excited to find songs as SEN NO YORU. This song is very soft and has a smooth groove. And definitely I agree that REFANTASIZE is the masterpiece. I have this CD as new gift from Japan and I recommend this to people who like Japanese culture or want to get the feelings from new TOKYO AGAIN. So here are my best 5 from the CD.
