About the Artist
Manish Vyas learned to play tabla at the best address for this complicated Indian percussion instrument: Ustad Alla Rakha (the late father of Zakir Hussain). Born in India to a family of musicians, Manish performed for many years as a singer, percussionist and composer in traditional kirtan bands, gathering plenty of knowledge about traditional folk, bhajans and the energetic Qawwali music from the Sufi tradition. He is an accomplished player of the santoor, an instrument from Kashmir with 86 strings, as well as keyboards and the Indian harmonium. Manish has integrated many different styles into his music as a result of playing with many international musicians. He has toured worldwide with Prem Joshua, and performed and co-written music with Deva Premal and Chinmaya Dunster.

the album is a very good example of fusion...........of east and west. the threads have been interwoven so beautifully that one just feel that this part is oriental and this is occidental.
the vocals he has rendered in "ishq" are really amazing. and at the end of all the songs u really feel refreshed. Good to listen to when you need to concentrate too........

Manish combines excellent Indian classical sounds with neoclassical fusion of electronica. Also a good sampler of how Indian music is taking a global form. Tumi Bhaja re Mana evokes the soul to pray, Ishq is ode to eternal love, Shivoham is soul journey to Nirvana... U
