If Josh Groban's unabashedly melodramatic musical fusion inspires grousing on both sides of the classical/pop pundit divide, the screams of the (mostly) young female fans that punctuate these 2004 performances at L.A.'s historic Greek theater better underscore the real point. This set's CD and more expansive DVD complement each other well; if anything, supplemented by a live string ensemble and crack backing band, they're a warmer, more focused showcase for the singer's talents than the studio albums that made his meteoric fame. In peak form, Groban variously delivers forceful renditions of his pop-operatic powerhouses "Canto Alla Vita" and "Anna Luce Del Sole" (the former featuring a drum solo [!] from Groban, the latter a fine guest turn by Bela Fleck on banjo), takes a surprising solo piano break on Paul Simon's "America," waxes Central Asian on Troy's "Remember" and brings the crowd to its feet with the heart-on-his-sleeve dramatics of Closer's "Never Let Go." They're all informed by the singer's insouciant, youthful enthusiasm, arguing that Groban is gifted with more than just a magnificent voice; he's a complete natural as a performer as well. The DVD also includes a tour diary narrated with typical charm by the singer, as well as bonus live performance of "Believe" from the Polar Express soundtrack. --Jerry McCulley

Album Description

Josh Groban's 2002 PBS "Great Performances" special was a #1 selling DVD and the best-selling long-form music video of 2003. His second "Great Performances" special was taped at L.A.'s Greek Theater in the summer of 2004. For fans of the young sophisticated pop phenomenon who has sold more than 8 million albums, this CD+DVD package is just the latest great performance in the career of Josh Groban. DVD Extras: On the road with Josh for Summer 2004 Tour and a special performance of "Believe" from The Polar Express (it's PBS footage mixed w/ film footage).

4 out of 5 stars Josh is even better in live!.......2007-04-14

I recently saw Josh on his new tour with Awake, and it was so awesome that inspired me to buy this DVD to replicate the experience a little bit. I loved it! Especially loved the few extra songs I've never heard before (Mi Morena, America). Some people were complaining about the nasal sound and quality, but this is a live show so of course it sounds a little different. Bottom line is I think Josh is a great preformer and his very funny also :)

4 out of 5 stars Very Good!.......2007-02-09

This CD/DVD was very good. I watched the DVD and was impresed with the way He handles the "spot light." He seems to be a very humble person and I think that is what makes his music so enjoyable to listen to. Not forgetting his awesome voice!

5 out of 5 stars Let me explain..........2007-01-14

There are several reviews that talk about how annoying it is for the fans to wave light sticks and/or American flags in this DVD. Perhaps if I explain why, it will seem less annoying.

The waving of the light sticks was started at the very beginning of his first tour, mainly to show him how much the fans appreciated the concerts. The first idea was to wave them during the last verse of "You Raise Me Up," when the choir came out. Later, fans added another show of support by waving blue light sticks during "Vincent (Starry Starry Night."

OK, if you still find that annoying, that's your right. However, the flag waving at the end of "To Where You Are" was special. This concert was filmed on September 11, and the flags were waved at the end of "To Where You Are" for those who were lost, and the families of those who were lost, on 9/11/2001.

It's your right if you still find these things annoying. I just thought I'd try to help you to understand.

Since this is a forum for giving our opinions of the DVD, I have to say that I love it. He has a beautiful voice and I love listening to him under any circumstance. The DVD is wonderful, IMHO.

5 out of 5 stars Re-Live the Concert Experience!.......2007-01-09

Was fortunate enough to attend Josh's "Closer" concert tour date at Jones Beach--amazing voice. Getting this album brought back all of the memories of that amazing evening outdoors under a "Starry, Starry Night." I used to not bother purchasing live albums because they had poor audio quality, but not anymore. Love this album! (Actually, I love all of his stuff.)

5 out of 5 stars DVD is so worth the price.......2007-01-08

I disagree with some of the reviewers complaining about a nasal sounding CD. Yes, there are few parts where it may sound a little nasal but people have to remember that this a LIVE concert and if they wanted perfect sound they should buy the studio album instead. He still sounded brilliant and great. The DVD is fantastic for all those who don't have the luck or means to attend a Groban concert. It captures the energy and pure joy of a concert. Sometimes its even better than being at the concert because you can see Groban close up. I hope that there will be a concert DVD released for the AWAKE concerts.

5 out of 5 stars Great to Hear All those great Voices from the Past.......2007-07-05

I just wanted to confirm what the first reviewer had to say about this CD. To hear Ethyl Merman, Mary Martin, Andrea McCardle etc. singing their trademark songs brought a lot of memories from the mid-centry musical theater back again. The last song by Glynis Johns is especially poignant.
You certainly can't beat the price!

5 out of 5 stars A Good One!.......2006-11-10

This is a very good CD, mostly because it's the original artists. I've had some that were re-recorded by no name artists that were ghastly. This one is a really good one--including the sound quality. If I had one wish, I would wish it were longer!

4 out of 5 stars Would you like ketchup with your bug?.......2007-05-05

The person who sang O Mio Babbino Caro is Carmen Monarcha. Do a search for her on YouTube; she's really fantastic!

Anyway, I saw Andre Rieu on a PBS special on television and it looked like such an awesome, high-energy concert! The CD is not so exciting, but it is worth buying just for that beautiful aria.

5 out of 5 stars Live in Dublin.......2006-07-05

This concert is magnificent in its energy and in the great performances by Andre Rieu and the Johann Stauss orchestra. I watch it when I need lifting up. I love the audience interaction which makes me feel as if I'm there in person.

5 out of 5 stars Live audience is great........2006-05-03

This has to be one of Andre's best. The live audience adds much to the music being played. I wish I had been there for the performance.

5 out of 5 stars ROCK THAT MOVES, ROCK THAT PULSATES, REAL HARD!!!.......2007-05-17

Like hard blues and hard rock? This is the right album for you man! I've got 2 copies of this album also, one in CD which I've bought at Amazon.com and another one in LP-vinyl format which I've bought in 1980. Pat Travers is also one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. He is supported by Pat Thrall on second lead in this album. Of course the great Tommy Aldridge (Black Oak Arkansas, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, Project Driver etc.) is on the drums and Peter Mars Cowling on the bass.

Listen to the songs: Stevie, Boom Boom Out Go The Lights, Hooked On Music and It Makes No Difference and you'll beg for more PT stuff. Pat Travers was on top of his career in this album. He can hit high notes while doing lead guitar. Try to get also his dvd The Pat Travers Band - Boom Boom - Live at the Diamond 1990, plus CDs `Best of The Blues + Live' and `Rock Solid: Essential Collectionthese are also top notch albums!
Don't blame me if you run out of copies! I already gave you a tip off!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Live Album!.......2007-01-10

harkening back to my teen years this album brings it all freshly back to my mind!
From the Lively opening to the seminal cover of "BOOM BOOM ouot go the Lights" the album moves quickly! Pat Travers excels at his playing and shows Why he was well known in the 70's!

5 out of 5 stars HOTTEST LIVE SET EVER.......2006-09-27

I used to worship this album in the early 1980's, and it has stood the test of time. These timeless classics are delivered with a tightness and boogie funk style not heard since. Even the Chili Peppers would have a hard time keeping up with the pace put on by Travers, Tommy Aldridge (one the greatest rock drummers ever), Pat Thrall (with his trademark guitar licks) and Mars Cowling (the most underrated bassist in Rock's history). This is a 'front to backer' so just start it up and let it go. The pace sets as a bruising rock and funk marathon, increasing in intensity up until the very last notes of the record. It's too bad more artists don't listen to this disc before going out on stage. "GO FOR WHAT YOU KNOW" is something all musicians should know.

How does this band do it? Stopping and turning on a dime, weaving guitars and bass with a blues tightness or a jazz improv looseness at the same time. Cowling takes mini bass solos over dual guitars and a double-bass drum attack that boggles the mind. Sure, you've probably heard "BOOM BOOM OUT GOES THE LIGHTS," but how well do you know "GETTIN' BETTA"??? Dance to it, study it, marvel over it. This is as tight as rock gets. And don't doubt it - Pat Travers' voice here is urgent, soulful, and inspired.

When all the other live albums get tucked away in the collection and classified as "not as good as the studio versions," Pat Travers has the distinction of using the live arena to perfect the songs he developed for the true rock music lovers. Like the announcer says at the beginning of the disc, Pat Travers is here to kick your %$$.

Thank you Pat Travers, again and again!!!!

5 out of 5 stars HELLO MUSIC LOVERS.......2006-07-27

There is always much debate about the best live album ever. This is not, but it is damn close. I wore the vinyl grooves flatout upon it's initial release.

If you like steaming, searing, rock and roll with a strong blues influence, Pat is your man. This album will make your blood boil. I urge you to buy this and his early studio albums up through and including Crash And Burn.

The big smash hit here is Boom Boom. My favorite is Hooked On Music, Go All Night, Heat In the Street and Makes No Difference.

Should you decide (and you should) to buy his other albums I recommended. Check out a song called Dedication. What a complete MASTERPIECE!

Pat Travers... If you are reading this, when the hell are you coming back to St. Louis, MO?!!!

5 out of 5 stars the BEST live album of the 70's....bar none........2006-03-30

my friends and fellow rockers, if you do not own this release, whether it be cd, cassette or vinyl, i don't care, then you are missing a piece of rock and roll history. a piece that, unfortunately, most people don't even know exists. forget Frampton Comes Alive, Kiss Alive II, Foghat Live, Exit Stage Left and others, this is the gem masterpiece of the 1970's, bar none. if you are a musician, and you are unaware of this jewell, then you better buy it now right here on Amazon to see what playin' tight is all about. if your just a rocker and dig good live rock and roll then do the same as well. either way, you will literally be blown away by this cd. first off, most folks talk of the guitar mastery by Travers and Thrall, which is undeniable, but the real treat is in the rythym section. Mars Cowling delivers a bass performance that has a place of it's own in the live rock performances hall of fame (if there were such a thing). the drumming? well, that is done by the one and only Tommy Aldridge, and must be heard to really appreciate. listen people, just buy, borrow it, do what ya have to to get it, but just spin it and see what were all talikin' about. can all us rockers be wrong? peace.

Amazon.com essential recording

Simply one of the greatest live blues recordings ever. Hooker plays alone at Soledad, yet the real thrill is hearing him backed at Greenwich Village's Café Au-Go-Go in 1966 by Muddy Waters and his band, including pianist Otis Spann, unsung harmonica giant George Smith, Francis Clay on drums, and guitarists Sammy Lawhorn and Luther Johnson. All are at the height of their abilities, but it's Hooker who works like a hoodoo conjurer, making misery rain down in "Seven Days" and "When My First Wife Left Me." This August night's reading of "I'm Bad Like Jesse James" ranks among the most intimidating vocal performances ever taped. His guitar and baritone singing sink to rarely heard depths of the blues--that secret place in the music (known only to its absolute masters) where it becomes an elemental force. --Ted Drozdowski

5 out of 5 stars Hard blues True blues Live blues.......2007-01-21

John lee seemed like he had the blues his hole life.Maybe he did maybe he didn't. He played the hole blues man thing to a T. He seemed like the coolest of all cats when he was up on stage. That's because he was. The people bought it hook line and sinker as they should.I have heard, lived and felt the blues since I was 8 yrs.old. I can totally relate to what he was doing and singing about back then and now.Hookers blues and boogie music is and will always be timeless. That to me is the conection I have with him.Pure blues, no nonsense music that hits you like a ton of bricks. This CD does just that and more.

5 out of 5 stars Best Ever.......2007-01-10

If I was stranded on a deserted island and I was to have one CD this would be the one , thought that Hooker and Heat was good , this blows it away ...............

5 out of 5 stars Two Great Live Albums in One CD.......2006-10-18

This is actually two live albums combined. Cafe Go-Go finds Johnny earlier in his career and Live at Soledad prison finds Johnny mid-career right in the middle of his endless boogie phase.

Live at The Cafe Go-Go is recoreded with Muddy Waters band (Muddy always had the best bands!) including the great Otis Spann on Piano. Muddy even plays guitar on one of the tunes. Sound quality is excellent and John Live is in fine form, but a little restrain. You get the feeling the band had not played that much together. Hearing JLH with Otis Spann in keys is pretty cool however. Bad like Jesse James is one of the creepiest songs made and is made even more haunting by Spann's parse piano.

Live at Soledad prison catch John Lee is his Endless Boogie phase, which for me is where it is at. Sound quality is surprisely very good and his band, including his son John Lee Jr., are tight. Bang Bang Bang is a great jam all the way from the Motor City. This contains all but two cuts of the original Live at Soledad album. These two tunes were sung by John Lee Jr. I love how at the end of the album the prison plugs the plug on the band and it takes a while for everybody to figure out what happened.

Looking for some more great live John Lee Hooker check the live Album with Albert King (they don'y played together, but share the same CD) 'I Play the Blues for you'. For me this is some of the finest JLH caught live on tape. JLH studio album 'Never get out of these blues alive' is also another great album.

This is a great album for anyone who enjoys the blues, live blues, John Lee, or enjoys Otis Spann. Album should be the staple of any basic bblues collection. I highly recommend this CD.

4 out of 5 stars Live John Lee..........2005-11-22

Hearing John Lee Hooker backed by the Muddy Water's band from the 1960's is a real treat. The version of "I'm Bad Like Jessie James" that opens the CD is one of the most menacing songs I've ever heard; John Lee describes in detail how he will "take care of" a former friend he took in who went around town telling everybody that he slept with John Lee's wife. This song is a perfect example of how John Lee Hooker was the personification of badass. John Lee also runs through some of his classics like "One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer" and "Bang Bang Bang Bang". I prefer the Cafe Au Go Go set to the Soledad Prison set, but both sets are worth hearing and are full of good performances from John Lee and the band. This is definitely worth getting if you are fan of John Lee Hooker or the blues.

5 out of 5 stars What an incredible man!.......2005-04-07

It's hard not to get shivers when listening to this recording. John Lee Hooker had such an incredible voice and it's as if his singing and playing encapsulates all misery imaginable. He extracted so much emotion from these songs that made me feel as though I'd actually lived the experience. It's so incredibly painful to listen to in places that I expected the heavens to open up in response. This is a man who knew what he was doing.

The band is in top form and John Lee uses them to get the crowd rocking as he works his magic. Everything is spot-on! From slow, painful numbers to upbeat, rollicking shuffles, John Lee Hooker and his band can do it all.

This is a landmark album that shows a man (and a band) at the top of their game and it's something no self-respecting blues fan should be without! You'd have to be dead not to be affected by this!

Diego, hero of TV-watching 3-year-olds the world over, has so convincingly stolen the thunder of his adorably bob-haired cousin Dora that he's now upstaging her on actual stages: Go Diego Go LIVE!, the not-to-be-missed family extravaganza, piles on adventure and suspense for forward-thinking preschoolers and their parents, and its soundtrack effectively boils down the experience for repeat listenings. The song titles spell out the story--"Al Rescate, Amigos!," "Get Your Growl Back," "When We Get Down the River," and others hint at the irrepressible Diego's mission to return his jaguar's missing growl. The addition of crowd-pleasers like "Click!," taken from the TV series, and musical horizon-broadeners like "Conga!" and "Merengue!" make this soundtrack an all-around winner. --Tammy La Gorce

4 out of 5 stars Great music for Diego Fans.......2007-07-17

This cd didn't disappoint. My daughter loves it to bits while my husband and i enjoy the good mix of music. It's a cd full of music which caters to the whole family.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent CD.......2007-06-21

I attended the Go, Diego, Go Live! show and it was fantastic. I don't have any children of my own, but the show was great! I liked it so much, I bought the CD at the show ($15.00).

I love the music and singing so much, it never ceases to bring a smile to my face when I listen to it.

If you haven't seen the show you're missing something very special. You can still own the CD, which I highly recommend to all, from ages 5-80.

Not having this music in your collection, especially if you have children or grandchildren is a mistake.

5 out of 5 stars Just like being there!.......2007-05-13

We took my daughter to see Diego Live for her third birthday and she loved it so much that when I saw the Diego Live cd was available I thought that she might like it also. Well she absolutely loves it! She asks us to play it all the time and she reenacts the show along with it. It's just like being there all over again. I would definitely recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......2007-03-29

The only thing that is a little strange is that the "Click" song on the CD is sung by a guy. For those who didn't attend the show - a note: This CD doesn't use the Diego-Jake T. Austin voice from the animated show. But my 3 year old didn't care. Adults should like the songs because they are set to really great music with good singers. If you attended the Go, Diego, Go Live! this soundtrack is a must!

First heard this as an impressionable teenager in Glasgow, Scotland. It blew me away then and it still does. A work of genius from the greatest showman and entertainer of his generation. Why is Chuck Brown not President?

5 out of 5 stars Chuck Baby Don't Give a ...!!!.......2006-05-12

If you're a native Washingtonian than you already know the man the legend that is Chuck Brown aka THE GODFATHER OF GO-GO. 'Nuf said. Chuck started the sound and I must say that Go-Go Swing is his BEST performance - but that's just my opinion.
If you haven't already started a Chuck collection, you need to add this CD to it. It's not to be missed.

5 out of 5 stars Quintessential Listening by a Quintessential Legend.......2005-10-23

While Chuck Brown's all time funkiest album is probably BUSTIN' LOOSE I think this on, GO GO SWING is the one that really defines his sound, sets the tunes that you'd expect to hear at his shows and is most remembered... making this a must have recording.

As for Chuck Brown himself - - for most black people who come from the Baltimore/DC area, having to explain who Chuck Brown is would be like having to explain to an Italian what Pizza is... Sadly, outside that region Chuck Brown and the miracle of go go is something taken for granted, as are the legendary go go bands that followed in his shadows (Trouble Funk, EU, Rare Essence, Little Benny etc.) - - In fact, Hollywood only made one attempt to exploit it, in a half way decent film with Art Garfunkle called GOOD TO GO, then just GAVE UP ! ! !

But what about those of us less fortunately folks who didn't grow up in the hidden shadows of the White House (If you watch Gil Scott Heron's Black Wax you can best understand this reference...) Well the truth is, those of us who haven't been lucky to chance upon Chuck Brown are definitely those less fortunate... Many college kids have picked up on Chuck, and he even has a cult following in Japan, but ask the average American who Chuck Brown is and many don't know ! This is tragic because not many men can claim to have invented their own genre of music, let alone own rhythm, concept and who even in their early 70's can get up on a stage with young hip hop artists and demand just as much respect and dancing.

But just exactly who is Chuck Brown ? This CD sorta answers it. By combining funky, hypnotic, "hip hoppish" conga rhythms, mean slap bass, and everything from rap to Jazz standards with Jazzy horn vamps in the mix, Chuck Brown can take a tune like MY FUNNY VALENTINE and have people shaking their booties to it as the music goes non-stop all night... In fact that was his concept. The story in the Godfather's own paraphrased words... "One night I realized that whenever the band stopped playing, the dance floor would clear, so I decided to keep it going, at that's how go go was born..." So with Chuck, when the grooves stop, the congas take over and Chuck might go from singing a funked up version of It Ain't Got That Swing to a Doug E. Fresh rap. Conclusion... GENIUS. Chuck Brown IS both America's greatest jewel and America's darkest shame... When a man like this can walk the streets unrecognized in many other parts of the country without young fans following him and screaming "Wind me up, Chuck" it does not paint a pretty picture of American's appreciating a KING in their midst... and lets face it, the friendly faced kind Uncle looking guy (he tends to smile a lot for a guy who's so funky and hard edged !) is no average Joe... He's the GODFATHER OF GO GO. Listen to this CD and you'll understand what that means !

5 out of 5 stars A white boy loves chuck brown.......2002-05-16

I learned about Chuck Brown because as a drummer in highschool and all my friends being black, thats the music I learned to play with. Chuck Brown gets my body moving and even though I'm a white brother that can't dance, I love listening to this music. and even today 15 years later when I sit down at my drum set, its the gogo rhythm that comes out. Its a part of me.

5 out of 5 stars I MISS YOU CHUCK!.......2001-12-05

I grew up in the Washington, DC area were Go-Go was born and created by the one and only "Chuck Brown". Since moving away from that area, I have not been able to find any Chuck Brown CD's. So, I thank you Amazon for having so many Chuck Brown CD's. This man has had me Go-Go swing for many years. So, keep it going Chuck. (...)

This was definatly a good cd worth buying. Though its not worth $200.00 . Don't buy that rip off price, its only six songs, and you can find great live songs here : www.avriladdict.com :D

4 out of 5 stars Avril Acoustic CD.......2006-03-03

This EP was originally a Target exlusive. So, it's quite dumb how people are selling this for 200 dollars! That's WAY too much. I have this album, that I got here on amazon for 20 dollars. To who ever's reading this-- don't buy the album for 200 bucks. It's not worth it. The songs are okay, they're just live-- and there isn't a booklet. It's just a piece of thin paper with the picture you see on this page. So, please, don't feel urged to purchase this EP. If you want to hear live songs from Avril, I'm sure you could find them on the internet. There are many good Avril fan sites-- just look there! I'm a HUGE Avril fan, but this EP isn't that amazing.

5 out of 5 stars Avril Live Acoustic [2004}.......2005-08-14

Unlike Avril's other cds this one is realixing acoustic guitars.
She performs songs From both of her albums "Let Go" and "Under My Skin".It's also live. This is an exclusive Target cd for 6.99 it's worth the small amount!

5 out of 5 stars She has amazing acoustic stuff.......2005-03-26

All these were originally released electric, but now she's doing them with just her voice and an acoustic guitar. She sounds real good this way, and it's like hearing these all over.

5 out of 5 stars Avril Live Acoustic.......2004-08-06

I think this is an amazing cd avril sounds so much better acoustic and the songs from her new album are awsome! I think all of her new music is better than her old music as she is older and has a wider range of experiences to write about!

5 out of 5 stars Still delivers with the best.......2006-08-02

If you talk about the 60s and 70s, I believe the two most underrated groups are Spirit and the Blues Project, both of which were very jazzy for the taste of the epoch and so much more sophisticated than the commercial music.

I bought this CD to see if I would still like it. You hear so much music from the 60s to the 90s all over the radio. Some sounds rancid and some sublime.

I loved this album when it first came out. (My friend Chris Winfield who is now an artist, turned me on to them as he did to much jazz, classical and blues.) They were among my favorite groups then and remain so.

I have to say that I loved Flute thing and a few instrumentals which are not included here but no one can perform every track in concert.

Listening now, I especially enjoy Alberta and Violets of Dawn, very poetic with that certain offness which Verlaine recommends for poetry. (I can't even recommend Verlaine so much since so many other French poets exceed him by far but he did write some amazing poems on how poetry should work.)

So, if you want pure poetry in the form of music, get this CD.

5 out of 5 stars For me, this was the first............2006-03-22

High school was ending. College beckoned. And music was about to explode: Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan. For me, the first taste of it came from the Blues Project. This album, their first, was recorded live, on a four-track, and freshness, spontaneity, and sheer fun leap out from the speakers with amazing clarity all things considered. The later studio work from this group does not have the spark found in this one. If you enjoyed this compilation years ago, buy it again and you won't be disappointed - you will also enjoy the liner notes. If you have never heard it, and want to experience how a golden era of music began, get it. A treat awaits.

4 out of 5 stars Go, J.R.!.......2004-11-08

This is a reissue of Johnny Rivers' first and second albums (At the Whiskey a Go Go and Here We a Go Go Again!). Both albums were recorded live at the Whiskey a Go Go, where Johnny and his sidemen were the "house band" at the time. Johnny Rivers may not have been the most original rocker around, but he played with an infecious enthusiasm that was quite enjoyable. It should be pointed out that all but two of the songs here are cover versions of other people's material. The two original songs here are Johnny's composition "John Lee Hooker" (mistitled "Whiskey a Go Go"), and "Walk Myself on Home" which was written by his bass player and his drummer. Although Johnny's cover versions are almost never as good as the original performers versions, the songs still have a fun, intimate, small club feel to them. Don't go looking for much originality in this CD, but if you are a fan of Johnny Rivers, you will enjoy it.

4 out of 5 stars Whiskey a Go Go.......2003-06-29

I love Johnny Rivers, I was at the club back in the sixites when he performed many of these hits. The first half of the CD I thought was great. It brought back so many memories of the music that night when it was live. Towards the end of the Cd I didn't care for some of the songs. But in all I still think it's a good CD of his music to listen to.

5 out of 5 stars An album you'll have fun listening to.......2003-05-20

I have had this on a record album for sooo long it will be fantastic to get it on a CD. His Memphis hit is well known, as well as Brown-Eyed Handsome Man and Lawdy Miss Clawdy. His music sparkles and the beat will get you moving. It Wouldn't Happen With Me had better get you laughing. Whether you enjoy rock, folk, country or pop, his enthusiasm and humor will grab hold of you.

4 out of 5 stars Live Rivers Rocks...........2000-08-11

I'm not usually a fan of live rock performances, but Rivers club performances are much more fun and infectious than massive stadium concerts. There's not much here in the way original material. However, Johnny's treatments of Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, and even Beatles standards are a great listen!

3 out of 5 stars A little goes a long way..................2000-03-03

As much as I like Johnny Rivers, (and I am a big fan), this is way too monotonous. This 2 fer was recorded before he hit his stride with "...AND I KNOW YOU WANNA DANCE" (which is still not out on CD! ). Of course the advantages of CD players is that most are programmable. This might be great for a party but it's too much of the same thing if you're listening to it on a long drive.
