I picked up a version of this album with the green cover that is viewable in the user submitted images for this CD. The tracklisting features all 8 tracks, however with english titles:

1.Ecstacy, 2. By the Candle Light, 3. Magic Touch, 4. Heart of Gold, 5. Love Comes Home, 6. Precious Jems, 7. Prayer to Allah, 8. Star Crossed.

This is an amazing album. Hopefully this will help interested buyers make sure that the variant they have is legitimate, or that if you bought it, you haven't been ripped off. This disc is well worth picking up at any price, and an awesome entry album for those curious about Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's music or middle eastern music in general.

I agree with the previous review by "a music fan" - this is a gem of a CD - and the original complete 8 track 71+ min CD on the Terrascape label.

Be careful - there are at least 3 other CDs listed by this same "Ecstacy" title, and even the CDs advertised under this item here are NOT all the complete 8 track 71+min CD - the one I got is on the Terrascape label, and at a bargain price ($4.47) from seller "VillageMusicWorld" - who replied to my inquiry e-mail to confirm the CD tracks - so beware and check the track listings....

Note: it is NOT really live - but a remix CD by Bally Sagoo from circa 1997 - hearing this CD in its entirety and in the correct sequence shows what an amazing fusion of two very different worlds of music this is - especially since it PRE-dates any of the Nusrat Khan remix CDs.

EDIT to add - I have uploaded a scan of the CD tracks listing - it's under the clear CD holder.

(Note: "Magic Touch" (Music Club label) is a sub-set which uses only 6 of the shorter tracks - read the review of Magic Touch by enlewellyn)

I first heard about Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan while working in India. After seeing a performance on television, I ran out to my local music shop. I couldn't remember the name of the guy I had heard, so I tried to sing the tune to the shopkeeper. He smiled and handed me a cassette entitled Dum Mast Mast. The album was transformative. Since returning to the U.S., I've hunted for a CD version to no avail, until piecing together that Ecstacy was the one I was looking for (This tape I had all of the songs titles in Hindi, and they only vaguely match the English titles.) Joy at last! I've heard other albums and compilations, but none of them have the ingenuity and sheer energy of this one.

    2. Get Up

    Album Description

This 12-inch features cover versions of the Magnetic Fields' "Take Ecstasy With Me" and Nate Dogg's "Get Up". These two seemingly contrasting tunes were chosen because the band wanted to teach themselves something new. They learned a lot trying to make a pop song, using a string quartet and generally trying to make a song for people to trip out on. The Magnetic Fields song is great because it replaces sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll with love, XTC, and house music. Nate Dogg's tune is unjustly overlooked and the band believes one day he'll be recognized as one of the true greats of soul music.

    Customer Reviews:

    5 out of 5 stars a healthy turn .......2005-12-04

The b side on this albumn is really amazing. I find myself listening to it over and over. It begins rather conventionaly, with a heavy beat and a convincing, unironic delivery of otherwise silly gangsta lyrics "I'm on my way to the liquor store With E-V-E and my nigga Roast".

With the stage set, !!! slowly and clevery begins to mutate the format of the song. Three minutes in, the tempo shifts gears into a hypnotic dance beat. It lasts long enough to be enjoyed until the guitar feed back overwhelms the dance beat and eventualy disrupts it. From 5 minutes on, the song devolves into near complete chaos.

Totally unrecognizable from the beginning of the song, the listener is jabbed at with angular guitars, feedback and mutilated vocals. This is all done on top of a driving primal drum beat that makes the song operate like its part of a tribal battle ritual.

I only hope that they continue in this vein if they release a full legnth. This, however could be a flash in the pan. !!!'s main weakness: Nic Offers corny and rude lyrics, were nicely replaced with Nate Dogg's this time. Though cover songs worked well for an EP, I can't imagine an entire album of cover songs being a good idea.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

    4 out of 5 stars EPs don't get 5 stars..........2005-09-14

but this is still a damn cool release by !!!. They seem to have been listening to a lot of Stone Roses and/or Happy Mondays lately, because both songs have an early 90s Manchester ("Madchester") vibe to them. This is a cool little twist to the !!! sound, and could be a sign of some pretty cool things to come. Definitely worth checking out.

    4 out of 5 stars New !!! single, new !!! sounds........2005-07-28

If you're reading this review, you've probably already heard !!!'s breakthrough single "Me and Giuliani Down By The Schoolyard". This is that song's prettier cousin. Whereas Giuliani followed a grimy bass riff and a "boom-chicka-boom" chorus through 9 minutes of dancehall bliss, "Take Ecstasy With Me" meanders from that dirty disco beat to lush orchestration and back again in its 7 minutes and 41 seconds. At times, I almost could swear I was listening to a Doves outtake, but then that !!! sound crept right back in. As for the B-side, "Get Up", Nate Dogg has never sounded this good. !!! takes a pretty generic rap track, builds a new beat, makes the vapid lyrics not only listenable, but very danceable. Watch for it, coming soon to a club near you.
Overall, "Take Ecstasy With Me" isn't the greatest single to come out this year, but it will definitely get your booty moving, or at least your feet tapping, and isn't that why you're listening to this type of music in the first place?

      Album Description

These visionary and evocative interpretations of Peter's favorite Christmas songs transport us around the world to experience the soul of the season in a wholly timeless and universal canopy of sound. Velvety smooth percussion and celebratory rhythms playfully dance with the Native American Flute, Middle Eastern Duduk, Irish Penny Whistle, Woodwinds, Guitar, Bass and Piano: All resounding deeply, joyfully and reverently, exposing layer after layer of XMAS Ecstasy.

Peter Kater ~ Of German birth and descent, Kater is an internationally renowned musician and composer who has released over 30 recordings since the 1980's. His two previous best-selling Christmas recordings have been enchanting listeners for over fifteen years. Kater's piano stylings in various settings have a warmth and depth that have attracted a huge following.

Paul Mc Candless ~ Virtuoso reed player Paul McCandless is recognized throughout the world for his work with the Paul Winter Consort, Oregon, and for his numerous solo and studio recordings for Windham Hill, ECM, and others.

Evren Ozan ~ a young boy of Anglo, Osage and Turkish descent, Ozan is a Native American flute prodigy. He was honored with the Rising Star Native American Music Award in 2001.

      Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Awesome but interesting he made this album.......2003-10-16

I love Peter Kater and most of his music without occult or shaman titles in them, because the truth is, it is part of a cult thinking and spiritual darkness. I studied it for years as I did other cults and I know people firsthand who were involved with the illuminated cult and "ism. Otherwise he has an excellent talent and beautiful spirit in music and melodic creation on the piano and you cannot deny that he has a God-given gift, if and when he ever acknowledges that is truly where it comes from. This is interesting since these songs are inherently CHRISTIAN, which the truth of Christmas comes from Jesus Christ being born as a saviour for the world that they might know and accept eternal life. Beautiful album, but again, reject the occult belief of shamanism.

This is a pretty solid item...You don't get much better than Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, the album that made Sarah McLachlan a household name...But I'm not sure if this double-disc is ACTUALLY remastered. I bought it back in '97 when it came out. The copyright, etc say '97, though it may not have been released til '98. In any case, this pressing is on gold discs which were foolishly tagged back in the day to have superior sound quality, and we all know that isn't really true. But I'm very skeptical about these 2 discs being remasters or having any sound-quality superiority over the originals.

      5 out of 5 stars Beautiful remaster.......2001-04-11

Fumbling and the Freedom Sessions are two of my favorite albums. When I saw that they had been remastered, I had to purchase them.

I am not at all disappointed that I did. The soundstage and clarity of the recordings has been greatly enhanced. Contary to popular believe, the gold does nothing for the CDs. A laser reads 1s and 0s the same if they are green, silver, or gold. Anyway...these are beautful. Highly recommended if you have a good system to listen to them on.

the artwork on the front cover right away, can set this special boxed set edition apart from it's 2 counterparts. The complete lyric booklets of each album are printed in the entirety on the inside of the thick booklet, and it's one of those 2 in 1 CD jewel cases, so it will fit on any normal CD rack. The best thing about these two discs are the SOUND. 24k gold helps, but the fact that these are remastered from the original souce tape is a tremendous asset to this recording. The cymbols on disc 1, track 2 (wait) are the most lifelike I've ever heard on recording. I have a very nice stereo and an avid musician myself, so yes, there is a big difference made here. If you like either of these albums, and you have a stereo of high enough caliber to reproduce subtle nuances of a recording; BUY IT. Period. The hidden track on FTE is, in a word, incredible. 5 Stars. Enjoy

5 out of 5 stars Two albums repackaged for a good price.......2000-08-03

Fumbling Toward Ecstasy and The Freedom Sessions are Sarah McLachlan's two best albums. They're repackaged here on a two disc set, with the "Last Dance" photo from Surfacing as the cover, and with the full liner notes and cover photos from both FTE and FS. The CDs are also plated with 24K gold, which produces a higher sound quality. Even if you already have both albums, I recommend getting this box set, as you get The Freedom Sessions without the multimedia track that can be irritating to skip around on your CD player, and with the bonus "I Will Remember You".

        4 out of 5 stars King Black Acid - A Solid Release.......2007-07-11

I don't know a lot about these guys. I actually got the album from a friend who bought it and did not care for it. I gave it spin and found that I really liked it. They somewhat compare to Pink Floyd with a psychedelic edge. I am not sure that I would call this progressive rock, although it certainly flirts with the genre. Several of the tracks clock in at over 10 minutes. Overall I like this album a lot, the music is all solid. The lyrics vary in quality and the vocals are all good too. The band has several other albums out, but this is the only one I own. This band is worth checking out.

3 out of 5 stars King Black Acid - 'Loves A Long Song' (Cavity Search) 3 1/2 stars.......2007-05-12

Decently good effort by this Portland 'alternative neo-psychedelic' band. Still like their 'Womb Star Session' CD better (see my review). Personally, I think it's their best work ever. Now, as for 'Loves A...', I was impressed with the title's two epics the most. The eleven-minute atmospheric "I've Heard You're Still Alive" and the twelve-minute "Gentle Collapse". Also liked "Into The Sun" and maybe "Born To Sleep". Also like the asking price. Worth checking out.

4 out of 5 stars Earlier efforts a better, but great anyhow........2003-10-27

One person gives 5 Stars to Britney Spears because she is soooo talented and 1 to King Black Acid?!? , well, there you have it, anyone that compares a high caliber rock band to anything done by Britney is absolutely deaf, so read well the other comments and ignore the one that is so out of context and fairness.

Listen to the earlier albums, this guys are good, very good indeed !

        1 out of 5 stars Nadir.......2003-01-31

Quite possibly, the worst music I have ever heard in my life. I listen to a lot of music, and am very forgiving, but this stuff is just plain aweful. And for anyone to dare and compare this band to Pink Floyd is like comparing a Cajun fried shrimp to a playful Blue Whale: There's no likeness except for the fact that they both have homes in water. This stuff is the pits. Please, do not encourage this group by buying their album. Perhaps, after a while, King Black Acid will lay of the dope and realize they have no musical talent whatsoever. Then, they can peacefully reaquaint themselves with the real world and grab hold of a 'real' job that will produce something of worth in this world. This CD is a mockery, a bad joke! To give them 5 stars is absurd. I can see giving Britney Spears five stars for her efforts because the girl has talent (even though I don't like her style of music). But to give these guys 5 is a crime...

        5 out of 5 stars downright grand.......2002-09-06

i picked up this cd at the tower records in shibuya (which is in tokyo, japan). i was shocked to find kba there- i'd never seen their albums outside of oregon before.
what can be said about the 8 minute pop song? it's a brilliant concept. the melodies are smooth, and the band has actually added the use of a chorus and of hooks. compared to 'sunlit' (which is actually a better album), 'loves a long song' is a simple and easily accessible work. it also translates better to the stage; i've seen them quite a few times, and the songs from this album work perfectly live. the running times of the songs might seem kind of long, but eventually it just carries you away, and you don't notice at all that the last song is... 12 minutes long.
the only criticism i could make would be that daniel is not the top lyricist out there- however, the words fit fine with the music, which is the main selling point. when i first heard this, i thought that some of the songs could get radio play, which would lead to a wider audience for kba; although i think that their audience has expanded, it is not to the level i had hoped.

this album deserves a listen based on sheer beauty. it is gorgeous and melodic; soft, sad, and sometimes rockin'. it's just good. it's just really, really good.
