5 out of 5 stars Essential to any library of song collections.......2001-03-05

This CD had a huge impact on my collection. I was always a huge fan of the American 'Golden Songbook' (Rodgers, Berlin, Gershwin) and this was my introduction to what was happening in France with the same kind of music. Fabulous songs and interpreters of great character.

I have gone on to purchase collections of Trenet, Sablon and Mireille....there's no end in sight!

    You will love this album

This is the best CD ever made. It has a different beat than most music. It has a unique style that I have never heard before. I highly recommend it. It should apeal to all people interested in techno music.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderfully fun and exquisite!.......2005-02-20

I first heard this album in my high school French class and was overjoyed to find it on CD more than a decade later. . .I was left breathless with the music at 16 and feel no different now. My personal favorites are those by Josephine Baker and Edith Piaf, but there truly is no bad song. It's wonderfully nostalgic, and if you close your eyes while listening, you can almost imagine yourself at a Parisian cafe in the 1930's. Je l'adore!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Romantic French Songs--Classics for Americans.......2000-02-18

All the wonderful classic French romantic songs by the original recording artists--most very familiar to Americans over 40. One of the best CDs ever.
