On this recording Nakai is joined by Nawang Khechong, a master of the Tibetan flute, and a practitioner of traditional healing techniques. They are joined by David Darling on cello; Geoffrey Gordon, percussionist from Jai Uttal's Pagan Love Orchestra; bass player Wade Mathews; and keyboardist-producer Peter Kater to produce a suite of music that bends the healing traditions of Native America and Tibet. Nakai and Khechong have an obvious rapport, and fit their traditions together in a seamless manner. The background vocals and synthesizer washes sound a bit clichéd at times, but the playing and chanting of the principals ultimately overcome this minor limitation.

Customer Reviews:
Great music with a soft beat.......2001-05-14
I love this CD. I am a yoga teacher and am always looking for music that is inspirational with a soft beat to add some strength to our practice. This is it. I also loved Sacred Spirit 1 (but not 2) and Shaman. If you liked these CDs, Winds will be a perfect addition. It's a combination of Tibetan and Native American healing music. It's beautiful.

Customer Reviews:
Music that has compassion! .......2007-05-27
An interesting mix of culture and religion that more than works as the music shows on this wonderful CD. Well worth spendng a few hours listening to this - it will draw you inward. The whispering chants in the background have a uplifting effect. This one not some new age mood music but seems to have purpose and focus - as if it were pulling your energy some how up your spine! Almost other worldly times.
Takes You on a Spiritual Journey.......2000-01-03
After listening to hundreds of "New Age" CDs, I highly recomend this as on of my top five. Unlike other "New Age" music, it is not just aimless, ambient "float in the clouds" kind of stuff with unresolved harmonies which feel incomplete. This is real music to take take you on a spiritual journey with two ancient cultures. It is a magical blend of Native American and Tibetian music with flute, cello, drums, Tibetian chants & horns, and wonderful soothing, mello vocal harmonies. The tracks which are are titled Compassion, Wisdom, Understanding and Sentient Beings are each 18 minutes long, seamlessly blending from one to another which makes it very soothing and absolutely wonderful for massage, meditation, Reiki, or energy work or just relaxing. This music will get to you on a very deep level -- you find it playing in your head for days after you listen to it.
Very soothing, well worth the money........1999-12-16
