The concept world music is a vague one that can mean just about anything. Boundaries are simply sounds from a particular place played in a certain way. About half the musicians here should be known to American world music fans (the above-mentioned as well as Gotan Project, Ojos De Brujo, Youssou N'Dour, and Khaled), but there are also names that haven't made it over to this side of the pond (Kaushiki Chakrabarty, Amparanoia and Ivo Papasov).
